If you have never used public transportation you should try it, save money, wear and tear on your…read morevehicle and free yourself of traffic related stress. The drivers are awesome extremely helpful to new bus riders, once you learn the schedule it's easy travelin. The cost is reasonable, too. We are fortunate to have the service in some locations. They purchased several new bus' and I really like the wide aisles for loading groceries on board and it's much easier to navigate a wheelchair, safer too! That being said I do have some issues with their priority of funds, safety should always be first. I contacted Stage management about the poor lighting around the bus stop shelter in Mt Shasta's shopping center, near Ray's market. The same bus shelter has an over abundance of snow in winter, piled up to several feet on the sidewalk making it impossible to navigate a wheelchair underneath the shelter. This is one of many locations with real safety issues and some of their drivers have reported the problems. Stage management informed me, they are doing their best with limited funds. Safety should be a priority above spending limited funds in areas that may not bring any revenue. They have expanded their hours to include a Saturday run. I was told that our public transportation operates at a loss, the short explanation not enough ridership to pay the operational costs including an additional day of riders. How do they justify the costly burden of an additional run but can't make our bus stop shelters safer for the disabled.

These riders all have their noses in the phones, and I have to ask them often to move over. Maybe before the people board, the driver can tell them all about the seats. It's disappointing that you have to remind people to pay attention to signs, I know, but this is a huge problem. One or more of these riders will catch me on a bad day some time, and I'll have to cause a big scene. If I had another way around, I sure would give up this bus in a hot minute. Also, next time, make sure ODOT doesn't screw up your funding, like maybe consider having the fund dispersement unit FIRED. Clean house before you go under, and the problem becomes our problem with raised fares!!!

I was also very sad the Ashland Connector was discontinued due to a shortage of drivers. There was nothing like it. Again, good on you RVTD for having it available in the first place. I still use RVTD regularly for medical appointments in Medford to determine whether or not I'm still alive. So far, I am. Which gives me the opportunity to apologize to RVTD. Thank you RVTD. Keep up the good work.
