Her matcha cupcakes are to die for - they are hands down my favorite cake ever. I even got a whole matcha cake for my birthday one year, courtesy of my husband, and it was heavenly. I was happy to find this food truck at Daley Plaza on my way to the train. I stopped by for something to drink and a cupcake. The folks in the truck were super nice and friendly. The chai was really good and surprisingly cheap, which I was really happy about. I opted for the matcha cupcake. It was absolutely beautiful. The flavor was great and the cake was light and moist. A bit too much frosting for my liking- but I know that's just personal preference. I'd try other cupcakes from this truck for sure. read more

Not great. I got a chocolate with chocolate frosting and a vanilla with vanilla frosting. The vanilla frosting was a disappointment because it is just whip cream which tasted like cool whip. For $4+ a cupcake i guess I expected at least buttercream. The chocolate frosting was better cause at least it was frosting but the taste not great. The cake on both were just okay. Ordinarily, these little cakes are going for $3-4, but well worth it, given the quality of baking and the nature of the cupcake market in this city! Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to try the cupcakes. I pre-ordered cupcakes for a pickup in Glendale Heights yesterday, Pickup was between 4-7pm. I arrived after 6pm, however couldn't locate the food truck. I called and messaged the owner. I received a text back she had a plumbing issue w/her truck and the pop up event was canceled. She informed me I'd receive a refund which I received confirmation shortly thereafter. I understand things happen, however was disappointed she didn't notify customers the event was canceled. The cupcakes were for an early Valentine's Day dinner. I wasted an hour commute to get there, and furthermore I only received the refund after I contacted her. If the owner knew that morning she was canceling the event, why weren't customers notified and refunds issued? Had I not contacted her, would she have just kept the money? I'm pretty picky when it comes to cupcakes because they're my favorite dessert and I've had a million of them. A Sweets Girl stopped by my office building today so I got the chance to pig out a little. I tried a red velvet cupcake so my review is based purely on that. The taste alone deserves five stars. The icing was very light which I love since cream cheese icing tends to be made heavy, overpowering the cake. Not the case here. The cake itself was also very light. Again, this is nice because cupcakes shouldn't be heavy/rich enough that you're tired/stuffed afterwards. My only complaint, hence the four stars, is that the cake is extremely crumbly. It's difficult to eat without the entire treat falling apart in your hands, getting crumbs (and bigger chunks) everywhere. read more

I happened upon this food truck by accident after coming outside of the Apple store by the riverfront, not knowing there's a food truck festival every first Tuesday of the month in pioneer court. (It also occurs weekly at the Daley plaza, but I don't know what day). Intrigued, I take a look around, and I notice this particular food truck. It looks familiar and I realize that this food truck was on Chicago's best. As if to test the accuracy of my statement, it says so as well on the food truck. Of course, I have to give it a try and I decide to go ahead and try the matcha cupcake since I am obsessed with any sweets dealing with green tea. It's absolutely delicious. All of the matcha flavor was there in both the bread and frosting. Though, there wasn't so much to overpower the flavor. The frosting was nice and soft, and normally, I'm not a big fan of frosting, but I definitely was a fan of this one. It's been awhile since I've had a cupcake I was obsessed with, but I'm so glad it's this one. Fantastic cupcakes! The icing is incredibly light and although sweet they are not too sweet or too rich. The caramel cupcake tastes exactly like a Starbucks Frappuccino... It was truly amazing!
