I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered a medium cheese pizza. It was baked nicely. The crust was cooked through with a bit of crunch on the outside and a soft tasty inside. The sauce was good, not over spiced/herbed, (So many places over herb the sauce with oregano), not too salty and just the right amount on the pie. A good basic pizza. I will order from them again. Left the pizza swamp of Syracuse today venturing south to Cortland in search of some REAL pizza. Now, Cortland doesn't exactly conjure up images of great pizza or anything else Italian. But, A Round Pizza looked somewhat promising with pretty good write ups on multiple sites. They even have an 18" pie on the menu; tantamount to the proper folding of a slice. So, I ordered a house (18") cheese pie and a house meatball pie. Mama mia the meatballs were awful. The size you find in a can of Spaghetti-O's, with the taste of a public school lunch. No problem. Pull those mini balls off and give 'em to the dog. The pizza was thin with good sauce. The taste of the crust was good, with a slight crispiness. The cheese didn't have the right stretch to truly be a NY pie, but it didn't ruin it either. The ratio of cheese to sauce to crust was close to perfect. The bake and finish could have been a minute or two longer to add a little more crispiness to what turned out to be a mostly soft crust (which reheated well in the oven.). Their garlic knots are super doughy, not very garlicky,, but were the true highlight. Their taste and soft pretzel-like texture are worth giving this place a try by themselves. I had no idea this place existed until a last minute lunch choice was forced on me, and I'm so glad that it was. The crust here is second to none. I would say it's the best New York style thin crust I've ever had in this county. The staff was friendly and thoughtful, reminding me to get my kid's slices out of the oven so she wouldn't burn herself. The place is a real hole in the wall but will do in a pinch and the 2 slice special is a real deal in today's economy. Just sad that I live so far away now. read more

We were in town visiting and wanted pizza for a football game. Got the special with pizza, wings and salad. The pizza was good, kind of doughy but good. Hot out of the oven on time. The wings were excellent and the salad was good. Salad was huge. It was worth the value. We would get it again. It's for sure a NY dive pizza place but it was good food. Staff was pleasant. Got a pizza and mild wings. I thought the pizza was typical. Good but nothing special. Mild wings had a nice crunch with a slight sweetness. We ordered a value "deal" as we had a small party staying at a local hotel. It included a salad, wings, and a pizza. The pizza is a New York Style, and pretty good...probably a 7/10. We bought a chicken/bacon/ranch and a Hawaiian style (we didn't try "just" a cheese as recommended here on Yelp). I only tried a corner of the Chicken/Bacon/Ranch, perhaps the Hawaiian would have benefited from a bit more sauce. The salads were good (romaine/tomato/red onion/black olives), and the wings were good as well. We ordered mild and honey. There was no shortage of sauce on the wings...the honey wings in particular were really swimming! Delivery to a local hotel was fast; and the only negative aspect of the entire experience was that no plates/forks were delivered with the food. That's not a deal breaker, but when you have such a large order, included plates, utensils, and napkins would be appreciated when delivering to a hotel. So...5 stars based on the quick delivery, overall quality of the meal, and a pretty affordable price (each combo was $28 in July 2022). read more

A speedy delivery brought an undercooked soupy pizza. I called to get a refund for the pizza portion of my order. The employee informed me that they would deliver another pizza, however, we had already eaten our wings and mozzarella sticks. After asking for a refund for the pizza again the employee rose their voice and said "if you want your money back then I want my pizza back!" I informed the employee that they are more than welcome to pick up the inedible pizza. I was then told that I would get a refund. 10 days later there is no refund to be had. I seriously wish I could give this place more than 5 stars... I reviewed A Round Pizza more than 2.5 years ago, and I've been back at least once a month since, I can't stay away!!! The variety of pizza slices they have for their lunch and dinner crowds is amazing, sometimes using ingredients I barely even know but I make an attempt to try something new every once in a while and am never disappointed. I stick by my original statement: they don't have a huge menu, but what they do they do EXTREMELY well. One other thing I want to note, is that Joe will literally bend over backwards to please the customer. The service I receive there is miles above any other pizza place in Cortland. Always a friendly smile, a hello, "what's up how have things been?" To top it all off, if I ever make any random requests (can I get sauce on only half that pizza? can I get more wing drums than flats?) he says yes 100% of the time and again, with a smile. I've never experienced another pizza place like it and they've got a customer in me for life. read more

So before you get too excited about this spot - its pretty average. Nothing outstanding about the food. So why 4 stars? Because it's in Cortland and Pizza Hut is a top 5 pizza joint here! Lack of competition works in their favor. If you were ranking it as a pizza joint in a larger area, it would be a solid 2.5 stars. They have slices and do full pies. The cheese slice is pretty good actually. The rest are just ok. Crust didn't have much flavor and though it's thin crust, it doesn't stand out. This has become my go-to pizza joint in Cortland. I love New York style pizza. These guys are bringing it to Cortland and slaying it. The pie is thin, crispy, not overly greasy, great sauce, cheese plentiful but not overkill and their boneless wings are hand cut and tossed in your choice of homemade specialty sauce. Went in for a quick lunch at 12:30 on a Friday. Service was friendly, welcoming, and fast. The selection was great! There were about 12 different pizzas to choose slices from, some were very unique (unlike other places that will throw some cold toppings on old cheese pizza if you want a slice). We have been eating pizza from here since it opened. Normally don't buy it out but this is good. I've noticed over time that the pizza is getting smaller. By that I mean that their is way too much crust showing on the edge. Do not like throwing away so much of it. Half inch in from outer edge is a good measurement. Also, the day pizza seems to be better than the evening pizza. Different help and different technique I suppose. read more
