I was very optimistic for my color/haircut appointment because of the great reviews, but unfortunately, my haircut with Kyle was the worst of my life. I showed Kyle MULTIPLE pictures of the shape/style I wanted and specifically said I did not want my hair to have a choppy, V-shape. This is EXACTLY what I got. Immediately after leaving, I went to another hair stylist in an attempt to correct be disaster. Kyle thinned my hair so badly that the other stylist was shocked. While my hair was being colored, I was very uncomfortable because the two stylists were speaking about me in their native tongue. Even the color, which I was initially happy with, came out uneven in the back. Kyle seemed like a nice guy, but in retrospect, I should have refused to pay the $180 for this horrendous experience. Me and my sister went there by accident by thinking we made an appointment with a different salon. We saw the amazing reviews and safe to say, we were convinced. We went inside thinking that it was a good idea but we came out cursing. When we got inside we met Kyle and showed him our inspiration pictures. He insulted my sisters hair by called it too thick and he wanted to thin it out. When it was my turn he insulted my hair by calling it dry and saying he didn't like my highlights. During my haircut I had said I didn't want it too short but he continued cutting it shorter and shorter until it was an inch off of my shoulder, keep in mind that my hair was up to my butt and I wanted it just 2 inches cut. I don't know if it was a misunderstanding or if I wasn't clear enough. When my sister had pointed it out, he yelled at her by saying that she was scaring me and that she was lying and that I should trust him. Safe to say, it was a terrible experience and we will never be going back and I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy. read more

This place is CASH only! Don't make the same mistake as I did. Luckily, there was a 7-Eleven across the street for me to withdraw money with no charge. Embarrassing on my part. I was lacking a decent hair salon where staff were accustomed to cutting Asian hairstyles. My mom would cut my hair, but it failed to inspire. I have a pretty square face and head. Haircuts of before always came out as uncanny and with such a flat feeling. After getting my hair cut and styled today at A+ Hair, I'm sorry to say mom, I'm moving on from your haircuts! So my square face and head came to no problem for Cami, the hair stylist. Cami helped me decide on a stylish hair cut. I wanted something shorter from the hair I grew out, yet appropriate during a job hunt. The first step she provided was washing and scrubbing down my hair. While she did this, she felt out all contours of my scalp. I think she got a good idea of how to curtail the cut by doing this. The cutting process was quite enchanting. Not one second was wasted. Cami was cutting precisely and systematically, for it was second nature to her. I'm still amazed she only took one look at the picture style, too! Top off the haircut at the end with a candid brand styling wax, Sofia, and the final result was wondrous. I'm ready to show off my hair for the holidays now! Also, my friend was to accompany me for a haircut as well. He got a flat tire along the way in the middle of my hair wash. I'm very impressed with the way Cami was ready for me when I arrived punctually at her shop. She didn't squeeze another client in ahead of me or behind me causing many hairdressers to run late on patrons appointed time. She washed my hair and like many fellow Yelpers said, took her time as she cut my hair. I have very short hair so it's not like I can deviate too far from my original haircut. Many others tried to give me this interesting Johnny bravo hairdo and I'm like "I am a girl!!" She hand cuts and because my hair is thick, she took shears to thin out the ends for a softer look. Many times a hairdresser goes crazy with the thinning shears and lose control over it. That has left me looking very.... Like I'm losing my hair because you can see through it. Stark difference from my thick hair. She balanced my hair and have me a very good cut. Best of all, she wasn't pushing her products for me to buy. I decided to get a Japanese hair straightening and it did not disappoint! My hair stylist, Ken, was very attentive to my cut and told me the exact procedure to this style. With the texture of my hair and thickness of it, he worked really well and spent a lot of time on it. So in love with my hair color!!! Ken was able to achieve a lighter brown without bleaching my hair when every stylist I've been to told me it was impossible. He was very meticulous when he colored my hair and the result was amazing. I went in with my hair in 4 different colors starting with black roots to faded shades of red. The color result was so even throughout. And of course my hair was cut with the same precision. Really happy he was able to make my hair look so healthy again without chopping it off. I think price was very reasonable for the quality of the hair coloring used (very low odor) plus I'm very hard to please, so def A+! read more

This place is totally deserving of the name. Their service is definitely A+ in my book. After being bored and unsatisfied with the highlights I had in January from another salon that had left my hair dry, frizzy, and damaged, I finally decided to get a Japanese Hair Straightening just to reduce the frizziness and also to accommodate my laziness in hair styling. I did my research and eventually ended up deciding on A+ Hair. As other reviewers mentioned, it's close to Hmart in Edison along Rt 27 and just right across 7 Eleven. I was a walk in customer and had no appointments made but they accommodated me. The place was clean and organize. Cami was my hairstylist and she was worried about further damaging my already damaged hair so she was careful with the whole process and meticulously applied the hair products. It took about 4 hours to do the Japanese Hair straightening. Knowing that, all throughout the process, Cami was attentive to my needs and offered me coffee, water, and some snacks to fill my hungry stomach. I also went back the following week to get a hair color to even out the highlights as I had a very awkward uneven highlights. Since I was impressed and very satisfied with my first visit, I decided to go back to her and have my hair worries solved. Everyone I know complimented my now shiny and healthier hair. It feels soft that I can now run my fingers through my hair without it getting tangled. Overall, I really love this place and would definitely go back again. Seeing the good reviews, I went in for my first hair cut here, and told the owner that I wanted a haircut for my short wavy hair that could be a bit more controlled. And I showed a picture of what I wanted it similar to. The picture had a lot of volume still. This guy tells me to "trust me, let me see what I can do" and he proceede to thin my hair out to the extent that I go from a dollar coin size pony tail circumference, to the circumference of a pencil. I touch my hair and it feels like I have no hair left. I told him at the beginning, I don't blow dry my hair and like to let it air dry, but since I was dubious of the haircut I let him blow it dry. It looked fine until my mother asked me if I cut my hair myself. I couldn't see the mess behind my head at all. She takes a picture and I have 4 sections of hair just curling up in different directions. At that moment I realized I had a mullet. Far from the bob I was going for from the picture I showed. Also I had gone in wanting a hot oil treatment. I was given a "warm steamed conditioner" treatment. My hair had no difference in after. And to top off the damage. This "treatment" and the sad excuse for a haircut cost $105, even though the prices say otherwise. Worst experience ever. read more

Originally wanted to dye and cut my hair, but my description over the phone wasn't accurate so when I arrived, he told me he wasn't able to dye my hair tonight. This was okay because he explained it was a long process and he wanted to make sure neither he nor I were rushing. I'd rather the honesty than a rushed job! I need to get a haircut after a 12 hour shift at work, & I arrrived at a + haircut at 6:45 p.m. Although they close at 7 and there were no customers there, cami whom I think is the owner, still offered to give me a haircut. The service is incredible. Even though she probably knew that this haircut will force her to close her salon much later than intended she still shampooed and washed my hair a meticulously provided a haircut. Unfortunately because I didn't do my research beforehand I didn't know that this store is cash only. Cami is awesome and she totally saved my hair today: A few months ago I had gotten my hair highlighted and cut by what was supposed to be a pretty fancy salon down in Princeton but they did not listen to what I wanted and, totally overprocessed my hair, and left me with a murky brown toner color that I completely hated (claiming they knew what would look best on me). My hair was a frizzy disaster. I tried to put up with the outcome but couldn't deal with it anymore, so I found A+ hair on Yelp and decided to give it a go. Unfortunately my hair was too fried from the highlights for my desired procedure (Japanese Hair Straightening) but we decided to salvage the appointment by giving me a haircut and dyeing my hair and highlights the red color I had initially wanted months ago but was refused by the Princeton salon. And guess what, it turned out fabulous! Cami meticulously went through and thinned my overpoweringly thick hair and fixed the previously botched trim. She seemed to instinctively know what my hair needed to look its best when pretty much every other stylist has freaked out over how thick and unruly my hair is. Not wanting to go to Chinatown for a haircut, I came across this salon on yelp. After reading all the reviews, I decided to give it a try. The salon is conveniently located near hmart in Edison. I have thick and long asian hair. Cami was my stylist, she asked me how I wanted my cut. I asked for layers, and and wanted my hair to be more "light and free" that frames my baby fat face. She did a wonderful job. Took her time and paid great attention to details. It was 50$+tip for the cut but well worth the money. I definitely recommend Cami for Asian cuts. read more

I wish there was an "above and beyond" extra star I could give. Cami is amazing. I came in with hair that magically turned orange from a keratin treatment and asked her to fix it. Color correction on ash blonde hair is tough. I also had a really bad and choppy haircut from another place. Basically, I walked in with awful hair and asked her to make everything right. First of all, she fixed my haircut and it now looks amazing. She made the layers fall so naturally. Coloring: At first she tried using a single process lighter color to neutralize the orange. She didn't want to bleach, because she didn't want to damage my hair. The result was a lot better than the ugly orange from the keratin treatment, but it still wasn't back to normal. The next day I called her, and said I felt like it was still too yellow. Despite already being closed for the day, Cami came out to the salon and spent hours testing different colors on me until we found a good match. My hair looks amazing!! I feel like myself again. I am so grateful to Cami for her hard work and her friendly attitude. I will never go to another salon again. read more

Ken made me feel comfortable, talked about my hair and what he sees, then provided some recommendations. He could tell that I tie my hair up and like to pull my hair behind my ears by just looking my hair. He gave me insights and offered tweaks to my daily hair routine to give my hair volume and less dry.
