We were in town for my Italian grandmother's service at Arlington Cemetery, and I wanted to select a nice Italian restaurant for 7 of us on short notice on a Saturday. He patiently answered every single question from my very particular family and made the whole night feel effortless. There was also a guitarist playing chill background music that added the perfect touch to the evening. I had the chicken francese and finished with the spumoni tartufo -- both excellent. They also had a small patio outside as well. There was a live musician when we came, and apparently this is the case for every Friday night. The servers/owners(?) were incredibly friendly. As far as the food goes, the meal starts off with some solid complimentary bread. My wife and I also tried a pepper appetizer, but it was pretty garlick-y and wasnt' our favorite. From the moment we arrived at A Modo Mio, we were greeted with warm smiles and friendly hellos. The hostess was gracious and welcoming, and we were seated promptly at a cozy table in the heart of the restaurant. As we looked around, we couldn't help but admire the beautiful decor. The ambiance was reminiscent of an Italian old town, with charming brick walls and rustic wooden accents. The soft lighting and tasteful decor created an atmosphere that was both elegant and inviting, making us feel right at home. Once we were settled in, the server arrived with a smile and welcomed us to the restaurant. They took the time to explain the menu and make recommendations based on our preferences, demonstrating a deep knowledge and passion for the cuisine. Throughout the meal, the service was impeccable, with our glasses never empty and our needs attended to without ever feeling rushed. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive, providing just the right amount of attention without ever being overbearing. Starting with the Burrata funghi, the dish showcased the perfect balance of creamy and earthy flavors. The burrata cheese was expertly crafted and had a velvety texture that melted in our mouths. The mushrooms, meanwhile, were sautéed to perfection, offering a hearty, woodsy flavor profile that complemented the cheese beautifully. Moving on to the Margherita pizza, it was clear that the chefs at A Modo Mio take their pizza seriously. The crust was thin and crispy, providing a delightful crunch with each bite. Meanwhile, the sauce was just the right level of acidity and tanginess, with just a hint of sweetness that perfectly offset the salty, savory flavors of the mozzarella cheese. When it came to the Bruschetta, we were blown away by the quality of the ingredients. The tomatoes were plump and juicy, with a sweetness that burst on the tongue. The bread, meanwhile, was toasted to perfection, with a satisfying crunch that gave way to a soft, chewy center. Moving on to the entrees, the Polo ala Milanese was a masterclass in Italian cuisine. The chicken was pounded thin and coated in breadcrumbs, then pan-fried until crispy and golden brown. The result was a juicy, succulent cut of meat with a crisp exterior that provided the perfect textural contrast. The Gnocchi Al 4 formaggi was a veritable cheese-lover's dream, featuring a blend of Parmigiano Reggiano, Pecorino Romano, Gorgonzola, and Fontina. Each cheese added its unique flavor profile to the dish, resulting in a savory, complex flavor that left us wanting more. Finally, the Penne El salmone was a seafood delight, with tender pieces of salmon that had been seared to perfection. The sauce was a creamy tomato-based affair that expertly balanced the acidity of the tomatoes with the richness of the cream, resulting in a harmonious and satisfying dish. Last but not least, the desserts. The Tiramisu was a classic Italian treat that was executed to perfection. The layers of ladyfingers, mascarpone cheese, and espresso were expertly balanced, with each component providing a different flavor and texture that melded together perfectly. The Pana cota was a light and refreshing palate cleanser that showcased the chef's attention to detail. The texture was silky smooth, with just a hint of vanilla that added depth and complexity to the dish. Finally, the Italian cheesecake was a revelation. The smooth, creamy texture was unlike anything we'd ever tasted before, with just the right amount of sweetness to keep us coming back for more. Overall, the entire dining experience at A Modo Mio was a delight from start to finish. The warm greetings, beautiful ambiance, and impeccable service all contributed to a memorable evening that we won't soon forget. We can't wait to come back and enjoy another wonderful meal in this charming Italian oasis. read more

I ordered the Cavalier. My thoughts? It was an excellent pie. Cauliflower crust pizza can be tricky because there is not much variation with the crust meaning every cauliflower crust pizza you get out and about can all morph together. ODPC does a great job setting itself apart with how it crisps the crust in the oven. It can be a polarizing decision for sure. Some people do not enjoy the crisp or crunch. I for one, devour it. By giving the crust that extra time, it cooks the cheese a little extra and gives it that charred look like in the photo. It was delicious. The flavor of the hot honey did not come through too much so I do wish there was more on there. The Virginia ham and bacon were both felt and tasted delicious. This is not a red sauce pie so be aware. Regardless, it was great. I will be ordering again as they have a lengthy list of options to work through. ODPC is a winner.

We ordered three pizzas, one regular crust, one "Grandma Style," and one gluten free. For me, the regular crust provided the best balance between bread and the good stuff, in that case pepperoni. The Grandma Style, with their W&L toppings (each pre-configured pizza is named after a local school) was good but I thought there was a bit too much crust. That said, the crust was very tasty. The gluten free crust was very cracker-like, as is the case with just about all gluten free pizza crusts.
