I visit this shop almost every week because I enjoy being around the plants and chatting with the owner (Dominic). I am terrible at some types of shopping so I usually buy gift cards instead of items to take home with me. I also have a plant which keeps getting too long so I occasionally give them plant clippings (cuttings?) . What have I been most tempted to purchase? Rocks! Something to ask them about: Terrarium workshops Bonus: Dominic recently adopted (or started fostering??) a hairless cat named Stanley and he sometimes hangs out at the shop. My son wanted a plant for his dorm room and we stumbled into this shop not far from our hotel. We loved the experience shopping here! There was a great selection of plants and pots to choose from. What really stood out was the level of service we received. The shop owner took their time talking to my son about different options and how to care for each one. Best small town plant store I have been to. I have bought soil, plants, pots, grow equipment, pretty much anything you need for your indoor house plants you can find here. I'm so happy they moved to Pullman so I can go anytime I have a plant need. My favorite thing about them is that they genuinely care about the plants so if you take it home and it dies they are more than willing to help you care for the next one correctly. This shop is wonderful, so impressive and unexpected. Finding such a cool house plant store in rural Eastern Washington felt like finding a diamond in the rough! When I went in April 2022, most of the plants for sale were cuttings rooted in soil. They were selling for about $8-$20 for more popular house plants, some in the $50-$80 range for rooted cuttings of more rare plants. I bought 5 plants on the cheaper end of the spectrum and a cute greeting card. The shop owner, Dominic, was working the register when I checked out, and he gave me tips for each plant. You can tell he has a lot of knowledge and love for the plants he cares for. As I'm remembering to write this review 6 weeks later, I can say all the plants I bought from Dominic are still alive and thriving. I was in need of some new house plants that I couldn't kill. I found everything I was looking for and more! The staff was soooo friendly and knew so much! I'll never go to a hardware store to buy a plant again! Best part, they potted my bebe right there for me and drilled a hole for drainage so I didn't have to worry about a thing. I loved their product so much I bought some plants on their website and had them shipped to my friends in LA as a perfect house warming gift. The cutest plant spot! I was in the area and heard about A Modern Plantsman from friends who live in a nearby town. If you live in the area, you MUST check this place out. Upon arriving I was very relieved to see that this shop is taking the pandemic seriously. A hand sanitizing station and extra masks were available right as you enter, THANK YOU! Now to the good stuff... A Modern Plantsman has so many surprising finds. There were old favorites and rare oddities, there's something for everyone! On this particular stop, I was able to check off some wish list plants and ended up leaving with more than what was on my list! The prices are fair and the selection is great! read more

walked in the door to see a pile of yellow/unhealthy plants, i was quite surprised. I brushed it off thinking the rest of the store should be good and full of heathy plants; but i should have taken that as my warning sign. what was left on the bare shelves was completely overwatered, unheathy and not to mention extremely over-priced. it was sad to see such beautiful plants looking on the verge of death due to neglect. the people working the counter were too busy gossiping like middle school kids and didn't even notice we were there. i wanted to look at the more expensive plants behind the counter but their lack of customer service and childish behavior stopped that. i won't be back or spending my money here . read more

i absolutely love this little shop. i feel like it's reasonably priced considering the great things you're getting and even if it is pricier than you've seen elsewhere, i would support these guys any day. the owner seriously knows his stuff about plants. i told him what i was looking for as kind of a newbie and he said basically that i could pick a plant and he would tell me how to not kill it. ALSO if you buy pottery with your plant (how could you not there's so many options) they'll repot it for you and put a drainage hole in it for free. i could go on and on about this treasure but in short, i highly recommend. read more

This place is my all time favorite! I drove by before they opened and saw a whole lotta plants in the window and got excited. Once they opened, i asked for a certain plant but they didn't end up having one so on their next trip to the west side they bought around 10 that i got to choose from!
