On Thursday eve, the exit latch broke on the front door of our office. I was able to quickly determine what part had failed. Friday morning, I called A+ since we had used them before and had their info. The woman who answered had me text the technician with my request. I sent him a pic of the failed part & the brand name and part number I believed it to be. I explained what was wrong, what we needed & asked if we could purchase the missing pin or the entire part. I offered to come to him even. His reply text was " We don't sell parts We come to our clients place and repair locks Minimum cost for type of job is $225.00"(exact text). Since I had already seen the part for sale multiple places for $20-30, I knew this was ridiculous. I would have gladly paid this guy $40 just for the part. Instead, I ordered a brand new part WITH a new lever from Amazon for $20 on Friday, delivered about 2pm on Monday. It was from Ilco, a longtime door hardware manufacturer...not an off-brand. I had it installed and working in 5 minutes. *********** As a side note, I had to get a clip for an ear piercing on Friday. I looked up a local shop(on Yelp) and popped in after work. My bad, I didn't realize they needed an appointment and were booked 3 weeks out. HOWEVER, the wonderful lady with tattoos, piercings and blue hair said they had a cancellation and would check. 5min later, I was inside and being seen. They found a clip that would hold me over, recommended another good shop for a replacement ring and only charged $5...I handed her $20 and said keep the change. The moral is, I have NO PROBLEM paying for professionalism...but i won't pay for greed. read more

Sam was friendly. He called in the morning to confirm the appt, and he called again b4 coming over. My rental apartment was professionally cleaned and Sam take caution with his shoes b4 stepping in. I replaced 2 locks for $95 (which comes with 2 keys), and had 2 extra keys for $4 each. I asked him about a 3rd lock in my bathroom, and he kindly shared his experience, without cost, of course. I was refered Sam by another locksmith (AAA) because I had a Baldwin lock and he did not work on them. I made the big mistake of not asking about what he charges. He spend less than 15 minutes and replaced a part that I could have purchased for $20. I asked him what I owed him and he said $295 - I thought he was joking. Outrageous Prices! Came out to my business to change a lock. It was my own fault for not asking how much, but after 1 hour and 20 minutes. I was charged $450.00 and the guy was less than friendly. Watch for their scams... The rate is $55+. 40 flat fee, plus $15 or more depending on your car (difficulty to unlock). I asked the dispatcher BEFORE they sent a guy to ensure my cheapo 99 grand am would fall under the "easy"/$15 category or darn near it. He agreed $15 or close to it would be all. The guy showed up and asked for $100, I refused and told him about my convo with the dispatcher. He said he could do it for $80 as he frantically made a phone call and stormed off. Uhh... okay? Good thing I didn't want his service anyway I called Rescue Ron who charged a flat $60 over the phone AND when he showed up! 2 stars because they were here quickly, like 20 minutes. read more

What a joke. Don't advertise that you offer services 24 hours a day if all you're going to do is completely jack up the price to a ridiculous amount and be extremely rude. I had all of a 40 second conversation with this guy ( I think his name was Sam) and then he hangs up on me. He told me he could come tonight, but it was going to cost me greatly. I was inquiring about the difference in price to have my lock situation resolved tonight vs. in the AM. He says, "it doesn't matter how much it cost in the morning, do you want it done tonight or not?"I started to say, " I don't know, it depends on what time and the cost in the AM." So he hangs up on me. I call back... it took four calls for him to take the line and he says, " what do you want?" I told him thanks for hanging up in me and he tells me he already put three other customers on hold because of me. Wtf? I don't buy it for a second. Really? You had four calls all at 1 am in the morning in a Wednesday night??? Then he tells me he doesn't know the price in the AM. Really? It's your company and you don't know that information, which would be the second most asked question in your business. Give me a break. Sorry Sam or whoever you are, but your joke of a personality and you are obviously completely clueless on how to run a business when you answer the phone half asleep and then make up random shit on the fly. People are calling you in their time of need and you take and already frustrating and possibly dangerous situation and make it completely worse. Good job. I called this company to help me with a lock replacement for my new business. Sam was the person who arrived and very little let me explain what I needed. He only started to disarm this and that and when I told him that I needed him to put what was necessary so that it was under the approved codes because apparently it isn't (my contractor had already told me that the lock was not under compliance) , Sam very annoyed told me THAT IT WAS NOT WHAT I THOUGHT OR BELIEVED BUT WHAT THE FIREMARSHAL DEPARTMENT SAYS... I tried to be patient and asked him if he could give me his recommendations because I didn't want to call in the future again to replace something that wasn't under the codes and he kept answering my questions very very angry... When I ask him why he was so furious he answered because I was late. I tried to explained that I wasn't late. I was actually waiting for him inside my car and I never saw him arrived until he started walking to my business door for which he started sayin that maybe I was talking to my "baby" in my phone and probably I was having a bad day... I don't know from where he was getting such conclusions ... it continued until the point that I had to ask him to leave because I began to fear for my personal safety. workers from the businesses next door came outside because they heard the voice so loud of this person named Sam. I still don't believe how a person can present himself to work with such an aggressive attitude. When I asked if he was the owner of A + locksmith company he did not answer me. I just had the best service ever today! I was locked out with my 2 year old daughter and of course no window, nothing open around the house. While AAA let me down by not being able to locate someone in my area I googled this locksmith service and they were in front of my house in 15/20 minutes which is an easy wait time to manage with a Baby Girl! The Service Person was very pleasant, fast and knowledgeable. If I compare the charge to last time this happened this was so much less with $ 145. ( paid about $ 80 more for last time) I can highly recommend this Locksmith business and will have their crad on hand in case this should ever ( hopefully not) happen again. read more

Avoid at all costs. Verbally abusive and rude. I called to see if they did file cabinet keys using the core number on the lock, i.e. original keys lost, need new ones. The guy said he would have to send someone onsite to make the keys. The next locksmith I went to had no problem making keys that work with the file cabinets, same core numbers, no onsite visit needed. A+ Locksmith called back to see if I wanted him to send someone out. I said no thank you, I had gotten a set of keys and was set. He went off on a rant, saying that whoever I went to sold me a line of BS, that the keys wouldn't work, etc. I do business with companies that get results, not insults, and will not be doing business with these guys. read more

I am a property manager and I called A+ because my pool keys stated "Do not Duplicate" , it had his logo and I did not have the original to make copies. Sam was very friendly on the phone and explained, since it was a DND key, he would need to come out to verify I was legit He provided same day service and since he was here, I requested other service done at the property. I've worked with Sam twice, both times have been bad communication experience. Sam says really offensive remarks regarding the agency I work for and the population we serve (we are a nonprofit agency serving those suffering from mental health disabilities and addiction). The first time our door was not shutting properly, we believed the door mechanisms were malfunctioning. Instead Sam states the issue is aerodynamics of the office. His attitude was condescending. Fine, we paid him for the minor adjustments to the mechanism. The 2nd time we were interested in installing our new office door with the same features as our previous office. He requested inside and outside photos of the door prior to providing an estimate. I sent a few photographs of our door, in which he replies back stating the images I sent are of 2 different door and different locking mechanisms. It baffles me how he came to that conclusion. read more

This gentleman was willing to break his neck to help me! I was locked out of the house and had to climb over my locked gate to see if any doors were open in the back. Unfortunately no such luck. The first locksmith I called was AAA. He climbed the 8 ft fence so we could get to the only door with a key hole. After 20 min he could not open anything! He referred me to Sam at A+ Locksmith. Sam is a kind hearted man who was determined to help. We borrowed a ladder from the neighbor to attempt to get over the pad locked gate. Luckily, instead we were able to loosen another board from the fence and got into the back safely. He had the dead-bolted door open 5 min later. The negative yelp reviews are not warranted! If you have the time to read yelp reviews in order to choose a good locksmith then look no further. Call Sam he will get the job done with speed and expertise. And duh! I just got my house locks done. On the phone I explained to Sam that I needed help with 3 doors: the front door lock did not work, needed to be rekeyed, one bed room digital lock did not work, need to find out if it was a battery problem or need a new one, and we would like to add another lock on our study, and we want 6 keys for the front doors and 3 for the other two. He gave me a quote. Sam rekeyed the front door, the second door battery dead, so he replaced the battery, and installed a dead bolt lock on the study. He did a good job, gave me 7 keys for the front door and two keys to the study lock, but no key to the digital one, since "it will cost you $80 more". But still, the bill was more than double what he quoted. By adding the bill for just two of the locks: the front one and the digital one, and his service charge by being onsite, he charged $20 more than his quote! I do not know the run rate of a locksmith right now, I can not judge if the cost is fair or not. However, he should be more up front with me on the "real cost", share the revised quote before doing the work. read more

Sam the owner comes to my apartment to change the lock because I lost my key. Soon as he comes he takes half of the lock off. I double checked to make sure I really didn't have my keys and of course I find them as soon as he tells me he will be back to finish. Mind you he only took off the lock. I try and get his attention outside telling him I found my keys which I didn't mind paying him For coming and taking my lock off. When I try and get his attention he tells me no he's not coming over to my house while he writing the bill of course cuz he wants his full $200 dollars for a ten minute job of course. And I couldn't go to him because my lock was off to my house which I was locked inside my house. He finally comes back tells me he's not going to talk to me and tells me you people just don't want to pay. Indicating because I'm black I don't want to pay. And I asked him what do you mean by you people he said he didn't have to talk to my kind of people. Don't ever do business with this man he's a rip off for sure...he's racists...no customer service skills. I have never had someone treat me like this and in my home and I was force to deal with him because my apartments I believe go through him.
