We settled on installing a new transformer in our garage that would be easy to get to and be the least amount of damage to run the wires. Chris was a pleasure to work with. Pricing was fair. He is honest, reliable, great communicator, and very respectful of your home. The work was completed professionally, efficiently, and with great attention to detail. It took them a few hours but they finished it the same day. It's hard to find contractors who are both reliable and fairly priced, but Caldera Power Services delivered on both. Primo was the third company we reached out to for estimates and we chose them off of good vibes and competitive prices. I'm grateful for it. These guys are solid, honest people and won't recommend things you don't need. In fact, if you have a wild idea for something that is unnecessary or costly, they'll tell you up front so you know in advance. In addition to doing things the right way, they're respectful. I've chatted with a few companies about various house projects and David and Jesse treated me (a woman) like my input matters just as much as my husband's. It signals competence, excellence, and professionalism when, even though I say "my husband is the boss," a contractor checks with me just in case. And, it prevents arguments down the road. We've rehired Primo for light fixture swaps, outlet adds, new switch fixtures, and we plan to hire them for our upcoming upgrades because they're all around good people who do good work. Of the two products I ordered on 9/26, one didn't ship until 10/4 and didn't arrive until 10/10. The other product, as of 10/23, still hasn't even shipped. I wrote an email to inquire about it, and apparently the items in my order were processed "for drop ship direct from manufacturer" and the remaining item hasn't even been manufactured yet. If I'd known it was just going to be direct from manufacturer, I'd have gone to any of the dozens of other websites offering the same thing for lower cost and with free shipping. On the positive side, at least I've received part of my order so it isn't like they've just disappeared with my money, and customer service responded on the next business day so that's nice. I'm just super frustrated that I won't receive my items within the needed timeframe despite explicitly picking a more expensive store with the items "in stock".

Over just a few days, Richard expertly installed a Seimens brand box for about $1500 than the other three estimates I received. After he was done, he recommended an excellent stucco repairman, who came out and made the side of our home look as good as new, again, for far less than three Yelp estimates I received. Richard was a joy to work with, and came back several times to make sure the job was done right. Having said all that, a word of advice to LA City residents hoping to upgrade or replace their electrical service: you'll need to do the permit-related legwork yourself. This can be a headache. In order here are some steps to follow: 1. Call LADWP and ask for a free plant check. 2. You want the $59 dollar permit, which can be taken out online. 3. You'll have to coordinate inspections with LA Department of Building and Safety. Inspections require you to write the rooms each breaker connects to. Ultimately, if you wish to avoid this (somewhat-hectic) process, you can hire someone who's more all-inclusive, but you'll pay a lot more. Kinda depends on how much time and energy you have.
