Claudia canceled my appointment without notifying me before or after the action was taken. I reached out to HER to find out why the action was taken and realized there was a misunderstanding and requested my original appointment time be restored. She refused and from there became extremely rude and unprofessional. I wasn't upset with the confusion, but her words and actions were not only unacceptable, they were also uncalled for. Overall had a great experience here. Used a Groupon which gave me a spa mani pedi for $25! Pros: 1. Years of experience and training that is evident in her work. She was confident and thorough. She will tell you the truth about what colors look good on you which I find helpful. I almost feel asleep during the paraffin wrap it was so relaxing. 2. Very hygenic. Everything is properly sanitized and I could see her cleaning while I sat there an extra few minutes giving my nails a chance to completely dry. 3. Pleasant while still professional and service oriented which is great to see. Cons: 1. It may be a little tricky for some people to find given that it's in the Phoenix group below street level, but I go to the independent artist there for both my hair and my eyebrows so was convenient for me. I arrived for my appointment that I received a confirmed confirmation for only to be told that I would not be able to receive services. Evidently there is a disconnect with the Groupon instructions for making an appointment and the business actually receiving the information. I was very disturbed with the encounter I had on March 2, 2018 after traveling for almost 2 hours to come to the spa on a Groupon gift that was given to me. I forfeited my appointment with my regular technician, to come to A Class Act Nail Spa. But no worries, that will not happen again and I'm glad I was able to get an exchange from Groupon. I would at least expect to receive a courtesy call prior to the appointment to let me know "There was a problem" as it was put to me when I arrived. It honestly depends on what you are looking for - if you want a large nail salon feeling (and frills like no-chip, designs, etc.), this is not the place for you. The spa is intimate and personal in a beautiful location. Claudia does EXCELLENT work. One of the most professional mani/pedis I have ever had. I have natural nails and delicate fingers and Claudia was attentive to the specific needs of my nails. I especially appreciate that she did not use scissors on my cuticles or a razor on my feet. I wanted to love this place but it just didn't quite live up to my expectations. Luckily I only paid the Groupon price. When selecting a polish DONT shake the bottles!! Huge no no apparently but she is willing to show you any color you are interested in. I didn't have a problem with her no shaking rule but she could've asked me to stop shaking the bottles vs snatching the bottle out of my hand. Pedicure: - Minus one star because I felt like Claudia did clean my cuticles well enough and she didn't scrub my feet. This is the first time ever that I've gone to a salon and my feet weren't scrubbed. It's honestly the only reason why I get a pedicure to begin with. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! - Parafin treatment was nice and relaxing. She made sure the wax wasn't scalding hot before placing your feet in it which is nice. Manicure: - Just about the same problem here. She really didn't pay attention to my cuticles and she didn't polish my nails very well. The polish work is actually quite sad. Most people would use acetone and a brush to clean up the polish but Claudia didn't. The 90 minute session could've easily been trimmed down to fit within an hour. While the parafin treatment was doing its thing (10-15 mins) she could've started on my nails. 30 mins of the 90 is basically sitting around waiting (either for the parafin treatment to work or for your nails to dry). Overall the experience was nice, but there are other places that are cheaper and do a much better job. Sadly I won't be back. read more

Had a terrible experience here. I had an evening work function so I scheduled a mani/pedi. First the selection of polishes was tiny - and she told me I couldn't open them. I thought that was strange and was disappointed with the selection but no biggie. Then...she refused to take off my no-chip. She said it took too long and that wasn't a service she offered. How long does it take to soak my nails in acetone while I'm getting a pedicure?! So I left and had to scramble to find another place to go to before dinner. The service quality was great despite of using a Groupon, so I made sure to tip Claudia well =) At first I had a little trouble finding it, since it's in a basement where the door said "Phenix Salons" and at first I was like "Wrong place, keep walking!" but eventually found the place... I was a little surprised that it's a tiny suite with only one salon chair, but quickly loved how cozy it was! The owner / technician lady Claudia is very affable and has been in the business for 15 years, so she definitely knew what she was doing! She was very sweet and we talked about things ranging from the American education system to traveling to Eastern Europe... Her work is also impeccable. She goes through each of my fingers again and again to make sure the color is all even and perfect! Claudia is also a classy lady with great taste, so her salon albeit small is very clean, tidy, and stocked with top notch products. I bought a Groupon for 1 Mani-Pedi for $25 and it was soooo worth it! I booked my appointment a few weeks out from when I wanted to get in and about a week before my appointment I had to change the time twice. Claudia and Eugene were super flexible and helped me change it when I couldn't figure out how to do it online. I arrived at the address and it took me a few minutes to figure out where I needed to go, but as long as you take the elevator down to the LL you will find it with no problem. When I got to the Suite, Claudia had the pedi station already set up for me and was ready to go. During my appointment Claudia was very engaging and fun to talk to; which is refreshing since usually no one talks to me at mani-pedi appointments. Usually have a good experience with places listed on Groupon; however, this was horrific despite the "good reviews" others posted. Both my appointment and my friend's appointment after mine were terrible. Services listed were not completed- specifically the scrub. Used a very basic and cheap file on the feet- it was not adequate to, at the very least, make them soft or rid them of any callouses nor dry skin. Furthermore, when I pointed this out, she said it was illegal in Illinois to use tools and kept demanding me to say which places do use them so she could report them. (She kept insisting for me to look it up, and I did- it is not illegal.) Even though a great amount of expertise is advertised, it seems she does not actually have any. The tools were cheap, nails were not cut properly, and the polish chipped right away. Felt as if we had done the mani/pedi at home. This place was a little confusing to find at first but once I found it, it's amazing. Claudia is the best at what she does. My mom and I had back to back appointments. I haven't seen her this happy with her feet in such a long time. I mean were both extremely happy with the outcome but it was really important for my mom to have a good time and we both did. I am so happy I bought a Groupon and discovered this place. It was 90 minutes of pure relaxation. Claudia is such a classy and nice woman. She not only did a fabulous job with my nails, she also took every effort to make sure I was relaxed and comfortable the entire time. My favorite part was when she soaked my hands and feet in the hot lavender wax - it was like having all the stress just melt away. In addition, my hands and feet are still soft and smooth the next day. Her space is cozy, clean, and tastefully decorated. She has a very calming demeanor, so expect to have a great experience when you are there. A few practical points: * Claudia only takes one customer at a time, so don't expect to go with your friends. * You can book very easily online, but it's probably easier to book on a computer than on the phone. I can imagine that you should plan on booking at least a week in advance. I was lucky to snap up the very last appointment slot that week. * If you get there early, you should knock on the door because there is likely a customer still there. (Most importantly, it doesn't smell like nail polish at all.) She is also professional and knows what she's doing very well. Claudia was so kind and very meticulous with my fingers and toes and I loved that she also didn't cut my cuticles! So many salons cut cuticles and they aren't supposed to whatsoever. I did not say thank you in between the manicure and pedicure and she said "by the way, you are welcome for the pedicure." Uh...okay. She didn't cut my cuticles which I thought was very strange. Due to a family emergency, I was forced to cancel my appointment about 6 hours prior. I rescheduled my appointment for a few weeks out. Then I received a text asking that I be sure to cancel within 48 hours if I needed to reschedule again. Fine. Totally understandable. The next day, I got notification that my appointment had been canceled by A Class Act. I went online to rebook and found that the appointment time I had requested was actually open again. So I sent a text asking why my appointment had been cancelled and reset my appointment for the same time/date. I then received a call from the manager of Class Act telling me that I had caused them to lose business and that if I wanted to reset my appointment I would have to pay a fee. He was very rude over the phone, raising his voice and telling me that he didn't care what I had to say. Look - I understand the frustration a cancellation can cause. And had they mentioned this "fee" in the original text they sent after my cancellation instead of cancelling my reset appointment and waiting for me to ask why, maybe I'd be a bit more understanding. But instead, the route taken was unprofessional and rude. I will never send my business here. read more

She was extremely rude on the phone, and not accommodating at all. It is impossible to get an appointment! You will have to wait several weeks, book online through a link, and it is extremely difficult to get a Saturday. You can't book or confirm through a person.
