I used this company for the first time two weeks ago to fill my tank while I was at work. When I returned, I smelled propane but assumed it was coming from a neighbor. Three days later, I parked near the tank and heard an audible gas leak. When I called, the receptionist told me to "get a screwdriver and tighten the screw" myself! This is incredibly dangerous advice for a gas leak. Instead of sending a technician to fix their mistake, she made excuses for the crew who clearly failed to check their work. I lost a significant amount of propane due to their negligence, and they never offered to refill the lost gas or send a professional to inspect the site. Highly unprofessional and a major safety risk. Do not deal with them! read more

I inherited their tank from a previous owner and when I changed service, they sent me an invoice for $1300 claiming some contract that was never with me that I didn't sign. Go anywhere else for propane services. I will be reporting them to the FTC for this fraudulent invoice as well as the better business bureau. PLEASE BE AWARE! We inherited a tank from this company when we purchased our home. After several years of dealing with up charges in price per gallon and the unprofessionalism of this company, we decided to switch to a different company. Switching to another company threw the owner into an absolute uproar and he has made it as difficult as he possibly could on us. Please trust the previous negative reviews as they are all similar. It is unbelievable how this company operates and is still in business. I know the owner will respond to this and try and seem like the victim, but when he has continuous issues with his customers (as in previous reviews) he should eventually look in the mirror and realize that he is the problem. Prices seem to be fair. But the, (I believe), owner has got too argumentative and crotchety, making everything your fault without listening to your issues. He spoke on about how I hadn't returned his calls. Well it had been less than 24 hrs since I was the one who called A.C. Propane. I didn't speak to a person, so I left a message. Had to leave for the day and wasn't home until 10:00 pm to see his message that he left me. The next morning, very early, I had important business to attend to at a neighbors before they leave for work. Upon getting home, it was still early and as I am just getting settled, I see that Dave had left two more messages. I look out and his worker is at my tank. I go outside to talk to him. This is when his worker spoke about seeing if he can start looking up and ordering parts, delays over the holiday, cost of sending a service tech, etc. Then it might be awhile to get my tank filled. The day prior, after leaving my message for AC, I was possibly looking for a live person to ask, who may be able to offer any suggestions. So I called another company and briefly discussed it. Now, this other company unexpectedly showed up, but I didn't see a problem. This all happened in the course of less than 24 hrs. AC's worker was always nice, but up and left them to deal with it. So Ok, the new outfit discovers that a part had been placed wrong for some reason causing my gauge to not register. (The only people who have been around my tank, and touching it, would be AC). So I somewhat suspect that they had been who had moved it incorrect. it only takes him a couple of minutes, and he fixes the problem. This saved my dealing with an unnecessary tank repair, costs, labor, delay in filling the tank, etc. He asks me if I want them to fill it and says that they could do it today. I told him to hold off, as I always had AC fill my tank prior. He offered a very fair price before leaving. Now, I call A.C. Propane and get a recording. I leave a message. I wait and I wait. I call again. Eventually I get someone who answers the phone. I explain that my tank is now fixed and I'm interested in a fill, but wanted to know the price. She said that she can't get ahold of her driver, bad reception, that If he already left, he probably won't be back and it might take several days to schedule delivery, etc. So I told her to please call me immediately if she got ahold of her driver. I also asked about the price and she hung up on me. A lot of time passes, then, the other company called me and it was their driver. He said he happened to be filling a neighbors tank, located right on my street, and asks me, if I wished for him to fill mine. Now I didn't have to guess, he would fill my tank, and everything would be up and running that day. I said for him to go ahead, as AC hadn't called me back to say they talked to their driver, and it had been some long while. Now, I called AC, out of courtesy, just to let them know that I didn't want a refill. Again, I call and I call. Eventually Dave answers. He talked as if he'd done me so many favor over the past 11years, that I had no business shopping around, that all I was doing was wasting everybody's time, going behind their back calling all these company's, and my only concern was getting propane a few cents cheaper. He got butt hurt that I had called earlier to find his price on propane, even though his secretary, earlier, hung up on me when I asked. He said his driver was halfway to my house which I find suspicious. When I was finally able to get a word in, I tried reminding him, how I had asked the girl there, to immediately call me if she could get ahold of her driver, lots of time had expired, and that she said connections were bad. Never had the chance to explain that she was supposed to get ahold of the driver, then call me. She eventually happened to say that "He just left to go there". So if he just left, how could he be halfway??? Or is she lying??? He was very quarrelsome, repeating that he left all these messages and I hadn't returned any of his calls, (in less than 24 hrs!). Maybe someone needs to remind "DAVE" that customers don't work for him, aren't at his beck and call, that customers have a right to inquire about prices, services, etc., at as many business as they want. This is not a communist country. (When I got my truck, it was from a business right across the street from their competitor. We are still civil and talk all the time, getting my other vehicle serviced there). To stay in touch, and communicate. To confirm if I wanted or still wanted so called delivery. Not just show up!. Short answer - left they left the valve open at refill, and made me pay for them to come back an close it. AC propane has been our chosen provider for the past 2 years. After our recent refill we noticed what appeared to be a slight leak. I called to ask them to take a look. A service call for a leak and pressure check is $130. Their technician found the bleed valve still slightly open, and noted that the valve was opened at time of refill and is hand tightened closed, but due to the age of our valves would need to be wrench tightened closed. He also, noted the valves would need to be replaced in the next 1-2yrs. I called and was informed we would still be charged in full for a valve they failed to close at refill. Obviously, if I'd known what to close I'd have done it myself, but I didn't and I since they left it open I feel it was their responsibility as part of the service of the refill. [UPDATE] Hi Amber, Short answer, AC Propane filled our tank and didn't properly close the valve. Prompting me to request and pay for a service for an issue AC Propane created. You technician may have done a full system check, but it wasn't needed. All that was needed was a closed valve that AC Propane left open. The valve is old, but per the technician and your customer service replacement wouldn't be needed for 1-2yrs, not now as you've stated. I've already spoken with your customer service, and you have my contact should you need to reach to a resolution. read more

I have used A.C. Propane for 7 years for 3 of my cabins in Idylwild. They have always answered the phone when I call and every person that I speak with are very helpful and courteous. They always ask what my tank level is and if there is an emergency. They have always filled my tank(s) in 2-5 days and let me know approximately when they will be up to fill them. I have been contacted by other propane companies that promise this and that, however; have found that other residents on the hill have been promised this or that to get them to switch to their service only to find out that they were lied to in one way or another. I highly recommend A.C. Propane to anyone looking to add or replace a tank or service on the hill. 5+ stars for sure! read more

I have been trying to drop a tank off for repair for days now. No one answers the phone or returns calls. The gates are closed & locked EVERY TIME I try to go by "during business hours!" Very poorly ran business. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Update: as you can see this business keeps claiming that they're trying to contact me yet the owner on their Facebook page asked me to leave my email which I have done and even added to it weekly that they still have yet to contact me through email I can't answer their phone calls as I work... A.c propane has to be the worst company in the propane business, and dont get fooled they recently bought diamond valley propane.. Amber there secretary has to be the rudest woman I've ever encountered. So how this all came about is Amber gave us a call inquiring about a 70. Tank rental fee for the year. I explained to her I was shopping to purchase my own tank and that I had spoken with the owner Dave and was still shopping around, I asked her about paying a prorated fee since I wasn't gonna need it for a year. She said they dont prorate, weather I needed the tank for a day or a month it was a year I'd pay for unless I bought my tank from them.. I'm not paying for a year I told her if I'm not using it for a year... she became upset and rude. I then told her if that's the professionalism she represents I would not do business with them and that they lost out on a sell of a tank. I also told her I would no longer need their services and they could get their tank but that it still had gas in it, and she hung up on me in a ferry..aprox 20 minutes later I get a call that there delivery driver is at my residence to retrieve the tank. I told her I was at work and again advised there was still propane in the tank, and that if she wanted to call me back with a date and time I'd make sure someone was there to open the gate, she again hung up on me. About an hour later I'm driving up our mountain on my way home and see their driver coming down with a tank on the back, only to get home and find the tank gone, my fence damaged so it no longer latches, a pipe left open and exposed to the elements.. Since this has happened I owner dave as tried to LOOK professional on a FB review I left but has not responded to my request to email me nor a reimbursement for the 40%of gas in the tank for the price I paid for it.. my estimate of around 329.00 I've only received another bill of 150. For a pick up fee.. also no responsibility on their part of my fence.. read more

This family owned company has very shady business practices. After they trespassed on my property and removed a tank that was filled by another company I contacted the police and was informed that unfortunately it was a civil issue. There way of doing business is well documented but technically within the law. If you notice the amount of poor reviews and the efforts made by them to run damage control that should tell you everything you need to know. read more

Last summer I got the list of demands from my home insurance that I needed to comply with if I wanted to keep my insurance. Of course I wanted to keep my insurance as no one is writing new insurance in my area. One demand was to cut down the trees over my propane tank, and they admitted it would be okay to move the tank to a location that did not have a tree overhead and was in a clearing. Dave was helpful explaining in a fire the ground heats up and causes the tank to heat and blow and if a tree was over it, the tree would be on fire. AC Propane drove clear around the desert to come up to my home because the direct road was still being repaired from a major wash out. Their charge was more than fair and they worked around my urgency to meet the insurance demand deadline and moved my tank to my open area location. Their price per gallon may not be the rock bottom, but their service has been excellent for me. I only fill once a year and when I call for a fill, they fill it quickly. They are happy to explain the propane market when I ask an intelligent question. read more

READ YOUR CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN. Let me start off by agreeing with all the reviews that say AC propane is hard to get a hold of and does not return calls until you call multiple times. we have left multiple messages that were never returned. Now for the real reason I am writing this. MAKE SURE YOU READ YOUR CONTRACT ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I signed up with AC propane in June of 2020 and it was the first time i have ever used propane i have always had gas piped to the house. anyway we just bought our home and we decided to go with AC propane they came out and brought us a tank and filled it with propane, the driver filled the tank and then had us sign the lease agreement. I did not notice that you have to buy 400 gallons a month. the tank is 250 gallons so you have to get it real low and fill the tank at least 3 times a month to use 400 gallons. we had AC propane top off the tank every time they came out and they would only fill up to 80% of the tank. So with all that I have said it is almost impossible to use 400 gallons a month, but we didn't know any better at the time. we had never had propane before at a house. Now you might ask what the heck this has to do with anything, well I will get to the point. AC propane was charging more than a couple of other propane companies so I decided to go with another company that was 50 cents per gallon cheaper. and less tank rental fee per year, with the cost of everything we are all looking to save where we can. So once I signed up with the other company I called AC propane to come and pick up there tank, this only took several weeks just sitting there. then when they did pick it up they did not call they just came and left like a thief in the night. So now the BIG one after they took the tank they sent me a bill for a 150 dollars for a pick up fee. in the contract they do say there is a fee but does not say what the fee is. So I guess they can charge whatever they want. If that wasn't enough they also sent me a bill for the amount of propane I did not buy, the first year I bought 604 gallons and spent a fortune , so the next year we tried to really watch what we uses and budget so we only used 324.3 gallons Yeah for us. and the last year we decided to cancel not realizing we had a 3 year lease and we canceled in March and we should have waited until June. So with that year we used 121.4 gallons of propane again Yeah for us for trying to save money, NOT so the bill that was sent to me for the unused gallons of propane is over 1500 dollars 302.04 for last year and 1,111.61 for this year. Yet they never told my last year that we did not use enough propane so we could pay for that year and been caught up. NOPE they waited until we canceled and billed us for both years. So I called Dave with AC propane and tried to find out why we owed so much money. and once he explained it to me I then asked him if we have AC propane for 5 or 6 years and did not use 400 gallons every year would he than bill us for 4 years of back gallons not used and he said YES he would. now I am not saying that he is a crook but the way they do their business is at least very shady to take advantage of someone trying to survive and look for better prices. Dave didn't even offer any kind of discount for me paying on time and being a good customer for the last three years. seems like it's all about the money. So I leave you with this. I would give them minus stars if I could. I wish I'd checked Yelp before I paid them! This is the kind of dishonest company that preys on the elderly, and that's disgraceful! They took over Diamond Valley Propane -unfortunately that company no longer exists... When I called to inquire about a "mystery bill" the girl answering the phone (Amber) was rude when I said well let me think about it (I needed to find my old DVP contracts & weigh my options). This was the first bill I'd ever received from this company, and supposedly it's already a month late? - she said they weren't backdating late payments to when they took over my old company? but this was for propane tank rental from July 01, 2020 to June 30, 2021. She said "you could get your tank picked up for non-payment", when I tried calling back there was no answer so I just paid my bill figuring I'd take care of dealing with it when I had time, they CASHED my check the very next day and had the nerve to pick up my tank too! After several days and half a dozen phone calls later Dave finally called back & said "well, says here you wanted to think about it for a couple of months" and you obviously didn't buy gas from us last year or we'd have gotten your bill to you before now - (they are just covering their mistake for putting me on the list to be picked up plus not sending out bills when they took over a YEAR ago!) He says I need to sign a new rental agreement saying I'll also buy 100 gal. of gas a year! When I asked to see a copy of this agreement I later received an email with 10 attached pages of legal documents (for a minimum rental and gas purchase of three years!) This is an AWFUL company if you ask me, giving them ***MINUS stars!*** I'D GLADLY PAY TRIPLE TO NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE EVER AGAIN! read more

In a business where prices go up and down including theirs how can they be shocked when someone calls to get a quote on price?? When AC Propane's price went up I found the company with a lower price. I stayed with that new company because they had the best price. When they raised their price I called around and AC Propane was the only company that was rude because they filled my tank 7 years ago and I went to someone with a better price??? Are you kidding me??? Dave was rude and unprofessional to say the least. Sals Propane was more than happy to bring us on as new customers are happy to be flexible and competitive with their pricing. We have a new Manufactured home in Anza, and found AC Propane on Facebook. Their staff returned my inquiry very quickly and last year, started renting a Propane tank from them. We have filled up a couple times, but not in the winter. We had filled up in November, and at 200 gallons, I thought that would be plenty for a few months. Our Furnace usage was 200 hours in a three month time frame, because I get a report from my Ecobee thermostat on my phone. However, last week, we left for 4 days, and my phone said that the furnace was not working. When I get home, I stupidly realized that the tank was empty. I called Dave on a Thursday, and let him know. However, it was storming on Friday, and another storm was forecasted for the following Monday. Our driveway is dirt then mud when it rains, and it is steep. Dave said he would do the best he could depending on the weather. I called him Monday morning, and let him know that the driveway was unpassable. Longer story short, Dave was able to get us a deliver two days later, despite the still muddy driveway, and my poor planning. Much thanks to AC Propane. Wife was flipping out...no heater, hot water, stove, etal....all good now! And I will check the gauge monthly. read more

Bait and Switch company. Called 10/02/19 for propane. Was quoted $1.79 a gallon and delivery Friday, 10/04/19. Called at 2:44 on Friday and was told driver would be out. Called again at 5pm. No show. David from AC called me Sat. 10/05/19 at noon and said he could come over to deliver. Not only a day late but charged $2.09 a gallon. When I advised of the office quote, he called and the office denied quoting me the $1.79 a gallon. Bad faith. read more

One review left a few years ago during that David/AC Propane fiasco in which I was finally able to break free from David and AC Propane. And, the other review I left this week when, after being pulled back into David/AC Propane's web with David now buying Diamond Valley Propane. Again, and in regards to your response focusing on the tank rental invoice AC Propane just sent to me, my reviews have NOTHING to do with the current tank rental bill sent. I was simply pointing out with that, that I have once again got to get rid of David/AC Propane yet again and will just buy my own tank and get the current one gone that anchors me to the bad David/AC Propane situation yet again. My reviews are entirely based on multiple years of David/AC Propane being HORRIFIC in words and actions. I've tried being decent multiple times over the years, even calling David months back when word got out David bought Diamond Valley, who I was now with. Decent DOES NOT WORK with David/AC Propane. I will call you at the office in coming days. Again though, I highly suggest you and others finding this review please re read BOTH of my prior reviews of David/AC Propane. As again, this has nothing/zero/zip to do with the current tank rental bill you replied about that was sent by AC Propane now that they have taken over Diamond Valley. If I could give 0 starts I would. We have had AC propane for over a year, not once have they ever been on time, they never give you a correct estimate of when they will show. This last time they told me there was a "recall" on my tank they needed to pick mine up and then replace it. That took 4 days and then they decide to call me and say they aren't coming back that my business is not working out for them, so they leave me with a tank that you literally use for a BBQ and tell me to find someone else. I can't believe how unprofessional this company is not to mention how dangerous this is so now I'm having to contact a lawyer. read more

We had paid for and ordered from Amerigas (crooks) and after two weeks no delivery and we had run out gas, and they still wouldn't give us a delivery date. We called A.C propane and they had someone come same day and told us which days our community is serviced for future orders. We will be return customers. read more

Would give zero starts if it was as option. They delivered propane the first time no issues aside from not coming day they said . Called again and had a delivery scheduled and they never showed. Called back and was told they think they already were there but our tank was empty now cause they dont show up when they say . Got a bill from them anyways and they say they delivered to us so they sent a truck out and find out they put it in the wrong tank and not ours and now wont come back to our address. Dont know how this place does business with a secretary who has to ask the owner as only response it seems to be business motto or something . Now tank is completely empty after this 3 week issue and get pleasure of finding someone else to give our money to instead. read more

Just wanted to give a shout out for Dave at AC Propane. If anybody is looking for a propane provider, I can't say enough good things about this company. They are incredibly honest, affordable and will work with you, unlike these large impersonal outfits. We used AC for years and were thrilled with them. When we moved back east, the new residents switched to a competitor. When we returned to Angelus Oaks we found that company very difficult to work with and VERY expensive. Needless to say, we've promptly switched back to AC!! Dave saved the day for us. read more

AC Propane sent me a bill from the previous owner after I lived in the current home for over 7 months. Then they added finance charges on top of it. They claim they filled the tank while I was living in this location but when I moved to the current location I specified only fill my tank "at will" (i.e., when requested). In light of this, I tried to get out of doing business with them and they would not sell me the tank. They are trying to hold me hostage to using them and I believe what they are doing is illegal. read more

This is great company. These guys saved my butt. When the local companies were either too busy or thought they were the only game in town when I ran out of propane, AC Propane delivered to me within a 2 hour notice. I will be forever grateful to them and will always support the only 35 year old family owned business serving the hill. They do business the old fashion way, the customer is always first. read more

It took this company a week to come fill an elderly woman's tank who is on hospice and lives in the mountains in very cold weather. I had to keep calling to see what was taking so long. When they did show up the charge was over $500 and the tank did not work after they finished. Everything was working fine before they came. I called AC propane and they would not come check the tank without charging her again. They were very rude and would not help in any way. I wish I would have made sure the tank worked before they left because once they got paid they could not care less about the job. read more
