Drive thru
Stephen V.

Tonight my visit included the time to dine in and relax for a while. . Usually I drive thru. This visit inside is my second indoor order, but first to sit down and enjoy the experience. The service is as expected, top quality, and A&W standards for the floor is excellent. Everything down to napkin dispensers are pristinely centered at every table, every chair and stool, precisely positioned. Spotless. Loving it. My first visit, I saw this place as being the best of every A&W I've visited in recent times, perhaps period, though the locations I visited decades before can't really be part of my thought today. I met the owner that previous visit and told him essentially what I'm thinking tonight. As I received my meal, it was looking great. The fries were hot and fresh. Tasted great. Normally I have regrets about the fries, calories in part, but also that they are not as good as they should be. Tonight they are perfect. The burger (single bacon cheese deluxe essentially) looks proper, and the lettuce tomato and everything is crisp cold and fresh. The bacon, proper. The lettuce down is the patty. It's not freshly cooked. It tastes ok, but it is not something that was made inside the time I had been in the seating area observing my surroundings. Not a deal breaker, but it does make me want to make the comment.

This is ridiculous pricing!

I will start with the positive, the food was hot and good. The negative side is that the store, like all, is independently owned, and this one is taking advantage of people. As you can see, 2 coney dogs cost $10.98 !!! Total for 2 dogs, 2 sides and half a gallon of root beer, was $25.58 I understand food cost is rising, although this is nothing more than greed. When I questioned the gal, she just said yes, your total is correct. The hot dog wasn't even an all beef! Now I understand why there's never a line when we pass by, and now we will continue to pass by.

A blast from the past - not too many of the restaurants left in the world! Burgers are tasty, cheese curds are hot and gooey and the root beer is on ice cold tap. Nothing better when you are craving some greasy fast food classics!

When traveling from WI to Chicago, this is often the stop for a fast dinner. It's good, and they still have draft root beer, served with a frosted mug. The service is always ok, but the high price of a combo meal that is only painfully average keeps me from raving about the place.

Great place to stop for a quick meal. Simple menu. Good quality food. Retro interior alone is worth the stop.

I love the root beer ! Service and atmosphere was cafeteria-like, food was average. Chicken strips and cheese curds were good.

Worlds slowest drive thru. I've been here at least ten times in the last year - guarantee you may have to wait up to ten minutes.

Above average customer service that went beyond expectations and of course, great root beer, with clean and neat facilities.

So this is just an update for the fish fry. I still love their beer and drink menu, and I really…read morelike their food menu. I will continue to frequent Full Mile and just not order the fish fry. Which brings me to the point that I really disliked the fish fry. We started with an order of cheese curds because a friend said they were her favorite in the area. Good, gooey white cheese but I actually did not love the breading. It felt like the same breading used on the fish and I thought it was greasy and without flavor. Definitely not a fan, but obviously many others are. The fish was very large, and two pieces was enough for leftovers (usually I need 3 pieces for leftovers). But again, I thought the beer batter/breading was greasy and not very flavorful. The fish fry also comes with the saddest excuse of a lemon wedge. It was so small I had to jam my finger into the flesh of the lemon just to try and get some juice to fall. So that was another blow to the fish flavor. But just because I don't like their fish fry doesn't mean I won't be back. My 4-star rating remains. I like their other food and it is definitely worth checking out for yourself to decide.

We have two young kids so this was the perfect place for us - something on the menu for everyone, casual but inviting atmosphere and friendly/attentive service. I ordered the strawberry mojito which was recommended by the wait staff and it was delicious. We shared the brussels for an app then I got the crispy wings and my husband had the hot chicken sandwich. Such good food, cannot underscore that you have to try this place!

So if you're on the way back from Devil's Lake or Circus World or Wollersheim Winery, just go. It's a one room classic Wisconsin Tavern. It's clearly a locals joint. Don't be intimidated by the row of Harley's parked in front of the door. Everyone in the place was nice, down right friendly.... and I'm guessing there is a regular flow of recreational bikers coming and going. The bartender knew just about everyone there except for us. But we'll be back. The fresh burgers and bacon comes from the Lodi, one town over, and you can tell it's fresh and local. Prices are extremely reasonable. Of course there's a full bar with about five beers on tap and an ample supply of bottled beers including local favorites. But it's the burgers I'll be back for. So take the field trip and check out Tootsies. Seek out the out of the way local joints during your summer travels.

Menu is very limited, but that didn't matter to us. We were going to check out the burgers. Hamburger with a slice of raw onion, two bacon cheese burgers (their specialty) with a slice of raw onion and a side of fries, and a veggie wrap rounded out our order. Burgers were a good size and cooked well. Meat was coarse grind which we like. Fries were nothing special but came hot to the table. The wrap was underwhelming. Service was friendly. Food was better than average but place needed a good cleaning, especially the cooking grill and back room which was visible. 4 stars is generous. Likely not return until cleanliness is addressed.
