The buns were soft and buttery, but the cinnamon butter everyone raves about wasn't really my favorite. I could taste the cinnamon, but I wasn't totally sold on the sweetness. We ordered the mushroom portobello chicken sandwich and the grilled chicken salad. The sandwich had great flavor and the chicken was cooked well. The salad was good too, though I did ask for no egg and there were still some egg crumbles in it--I just ate around them. I had it with the Thousand Island dressing, which I liked. We were looking forward to lunch on Saturday 7/26. A group of 3 that saw their sign "lunch 11-3". When asking the polite server for a lunch menu, she said they had none and the sign has caused confusion before. We.asked for a manager and he was smug and condescending. We discussed leaving and he told us to get out of there. He even shoved me which he denied but pushed us out making loud rude remarks to leave because we were not welcome. After repeatedly asking his name he finally said QUINCY. Not sure if it really was. He made an awful scene because we wanted to leave. It really upset us. He should be fired for his actions. So I was not going to say anything about the visit the other night. I was just gong to let it go and just not go back till my kids really begged me. But one of my friends went and had a bad visit as well. So here it goes. My wife was out of town with my youngest so it was just me and my oldest and he wanted Texas ( he likes the rolls) so I decided to go. He checked in and we had a great conversation waiting for a table to come open. We went inside got to the table and few minutes later the server came by Kai was her name. Takes a drink order asked but appetizers, but had to leave before she could finish the order to check on another table. She then came back finished our order for appetizers and drinks dropped off our two drinks and then as usual someone else dropped off the appetizer. She then came back to take the order and again had to dismiss herself to check on another table and then come back and finish taking our order and again someone else dropped off the salad. A little bit of time goes by, and she comes by to drop off the entrées. It was a small table, so I had to stack items so we could make room for the entries to be dropped off and then she just walked away. I ordered the prime rib, which looks like it was cut them in the order was put in left underneath the heat lamp to dry out. I have a picture of it, but it doesn't do it much justice as you look at the cut of prime rib, part of it as well done part of it as medium and part of it is rare I would've complained, but seeing how our surfer never came back by the table even do a table touch And ask how our steaks were. It would've been a waste of our time after we were just about done eating, she came by and offered her a drink refills. Much to my surprise they never came. I paid the bill minimal tip as we were leaving. She was just standing at the whole station having a conversation up there and said I've actually taken care of our tables and doing her job that she should have done. This was the worst experience I've ever had at Texas and I can't guarantee we will not go back for quite a while I could've gone to a much better steakhouse or supper club got better service had a better steak for the same money and kept my money local. I did add a picture of the prime rib after I had to pour some of the juice on it to give it a juicy flavor. NOT WORTH $30 my advice to anybody eat local don't give your money to a corporate chain that doesn't care about you as a customer read more

I made the mistake of going to Texas Roadhouse in East Madison on January 8th, 2026. It was the worst dining experience I've ever had. I ordered a whiskey old fashion, small prime rib - rare, and a baked potato with butter. I'm not much of a bread eater, and that they put cinnamon (I'm allergic) in the butter - that made not ordering bread an easy decision. I was also grateful that I ordered a glass of water. Unfortunately, Texas Roadhouse does not offer a vinegarette. I ended up order Ranch - I'm not a big fan, but what can you do? After a couple of sips of my drink, my salad was placed in front of me. I dressed and cut my salad and took a couple bites. Suddenly, my food was placed in front of me. I stated that the plate came far too early for me to enjoy my salad. He apologized - the kitchen had made it too quickly. He asked if I wanted him to take it back and "stay warm" under the heat lamps while I enjoy my salad. I saw that the meat was already medium and it appeared like it had been under the lamp for a bit already. I told him I'd keep the plate. I was very angry by this time. I was being given the bum's rush for no good reason. I took my first couple bites, and I ended up with a big glop of marinade in my mouth. I couldn't spit it out because the diner at the next table was facing me. I ended up eating it, and then I started drinking water to wash it down. I had come there for a personal celebration. All thoughts of celebration left, and I was angry at the entire situation. I did start looking for a manager. One appeared at my table right then. She obviously had been told that I was not happy. I could see it in her face. Upon asking me, I told her about everything that had gone wrong, except about the marinade. She apologized for the kitchen making the mistake, and she offered to get me a rare piece of prime rib. I looked at my situation: I hardly drank my drink, the practically untouched salad was wilted, I was drinking water at a rapid pace due to that marinade... Did I want to risk another glop in a better cooked piece of meat? I basically decided to give up. I told her I just wanted to get out of there. She said it wouldn't take a moment to get a new piece of meat, but I said no again. She told me that she was not going to make me happy with my attitude. After confirming my decision, she walked away. I tried to take a drink of my old fashion, and I noticed that my hand was shaking in anger. I took my card out and placed it on the table. I declined to go boxes - I wasn't going to eat a wilted salad and an over marinated/overcooked piece of meat. I took 6-7 bites of the entire meal and got to pay the full tab. I left angry and hungry. As far as their blaming the kitchen, I doubt that this was the kitchen's fault. I've done enough work in restaurants in my younger days. It's the wait staff's duty to conduct the meal. They can hold the ticket until the appropriate time to put it into the kitchen. The kitchen just cooks what they are told to - when they are told to. Blaming them for the waiter's inability to time my meal is an insult to the kitchen. read more

Had another good experience at this location. We have a VIP pass for a free appetizer with the purchase of two meals. It was a great deal and plenty of food for just the two of us. Took home almost a whole meal for leftovers. Our waitress, Lulu, was very polite and did a great job! I asked her a preference on which gravy I'd like on my chicken, and later on she checked with me to make sure I enjoyed it. Very fast service and great execution. The food was exceptional. I got the country fried chicken with a baked potato and a house salad. It was delicious! My only complaint is the way they do their payments. Went out to eat for my husband's birthday and let's start at the wait list we live an hour away from your location so I added us to the waitlist while we were driving, once in the parking lot I checked us in and we had a table before we even hit the door. We were greated at the host stand by name. Big plus for us. We were sat at our table and the server Mario came to us right away. He was very polite and prompt. Our food was amazing as usual but for us the highlight of our dinner was Mario. I have been in the restaurant business for over 20 years and it is very rare to find a server who finds so much pride in his work. Even then he was clearing and resetting his table. This is one of my favorite places to go in town for steak. It's always so juicy and tender. I get the Dallas Filet rare and it's melt in your mouth. And who could go wrong with the fresh warm buns with the cinnamon butter. New things I tried this time was the Rattlesnake Bites and Mango Margarita (with Tajin). Rattlesnake Bites were good, cheesy and the jalapeño had a little kick to it and the mango margarita was yummy. Especially with the Tajin, I like spicy so next time I'll probably request to have it all around the rim. Updates on the covid eating- they do dine in. You check in and they will text you once a table is ready. You can wait in your car or outside. I'm not sure what this place has that makes it such a hopping joint. It's reasonably-priced steaks served in an atmosphere that looks like a redneck's basement. However, this place is always busy--especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Be prepared to wait at least 10 to 20 minutes for a table. I've tried to go in and been told the wait would be 40 minutes or more. I don't wait 40 minutes for anything. If you have to wait 40 minutes at a restaurant for a table, it's pretty clear they don't need your money. The few times I've gone and been seated quickly, the food has been okay. Nothing special. We ordered the rattlesnake bites which were very good with a nicely crisp outside and a cheesy semi spicy inside which came with ranch dressing. For the price paid for the steaks you would be better off going to a non-chain steakhouse and get something better for the same price. Outside of the dinner, the place was packed for a Monday at 5:00 pm, with people waiting for a table. It is loud in there. We ended up eating at the bar because you could eat there, instead of waiting longer for a table. The bartender was attentive at first, but then had to flag her down a couple of times to place an appetizer order, another drink, ordering our dinner, and then pay. The register by the bar went down and we had to wait a while to pay our bill and ended up flagging down someone behind the bar and ask if they could ring it up somewhere else in the restaurant. It was a rainy Saturday on this June day and all I wanted was a juicy Prime Rib dinner that wasn't going to disappoint me. My son was in town so I thought I would give Texas Roadhouse a try upon recommendation. Luckily I had recently downloaded the Texas Roadhouse AP , so I was able to add myself and my son to the waitlist before we even drove there. They were PACKED. We still had to wait but it was in the car. We sat and visited while awaiting the text telling us to enter. This location was crammed with tables with such a bare minimum area to maneuver. You were shoulder to shoulder with some patrons just trying to be escorted to your table. We were seated in a hidden area near the front windows in a small wing of the restaurant. Upon sitting It was quite noticeable that the ambient music was blaring. I had to have my server repeat everything. The place was filthy. Trash all about the narrow passageways of flooring. The restroom was in such bad shape I felt I had stepped into the nearest truck stop rest area. So much filth and paper and water all about the commodes. Guests were sitting so close in proximity of one another the image was almost claustrophobic. I had immediate doubts about staying but we were tired and starving. Long story short, I had ordered the Prime Rib for myself. The16 ounce which looked like the 12) and my son had the Bone-in Ribeye. His steak was so charred from flame kisses it was literally all you could taste. That was rancid. My Prime was cooked wonderful but obviously it was weighed before any trimming. At least a third of it was fat. I do realize that Prime has fat but this was a lot. The corn side was mushy like cafeteria corn with no pop of freshness or sweetness and the sauteed mushrooms were so overly cooked and put in some sort of charred madness they held no mushroom flavor whatsoever. We did opt for the grilled Shrimp appetizer which contained 5 well-cooked plump fresh morsels. Those were very good but the promise of toasted bread turned out to be a table bun cut in half that barely was touched by any heat source. It was a white flaccid soggy bun. ** good stuff AP waitlist.
