I can't believe this place still exists! My family stopped here for lunch. The staff was very friendly and professional. I learned that they make root beer in house with real sugar cane! The root beer freeze was delicious even though I am not a fan of root beer! It took a while to get our food, but that is Ok because it tasted fresh. Have not been to an A&W in years. Years and years. Was a bit nervous as it was very busy and the average age of the staff appeared to be 14. Order process was smooth. The COVID plex and general noise made it hard to hear each other when ordering, but the cashier repeated the order to ensure it was right. They call your number and the wait was not long. Food was fresh. Fried and onion rings were hot. It was yummy. For as busy as it was, the staff handled it like pros. read more

My father-in-law and I were waiting for family and this beautiful A&W sign kept calling until we finally walked over for a root beer float. What we got was NOT an A&W that made them famous for the last 100+ years, with the exception of the frosty mugs. The root beer looked like a regular coke; no smooth foam root beer is known for. Instead it was more like a home made sarsaparilla with a few big carbon bubbles. If this is the "made fresh on site with real cane sugar", someone's not doing something right at this location. I'm hoping this was just a fluke. If not, they shouldn't be called A&W. read more

Rooty (the A&W Bear mascot) would straight up maul the overrated Ronald McDonald. This classic walk-up drive lacks the doorside service but still quickly brings you back diner menu/window will bring you to the golden age when eating fast food didn't make you feel like you were commuting a mortal sin. The burgers, sandwiches, and dogs are are edible but not memorable. And although the RootBeer is good, it is the second best RootBeer in Nisswa (#1 goes to the 1919 RootBeer on tap @ Rafferty's.) read more

I was downtown Nisswa shopping and exploring with my family while we were camping this past week. We wanted to eat and the pizza place and brew house were busy and with a young child we couldn't wait so we walked over to A&W the service was quick and everything we ate was delicious. Nice that they have air conditioned indoor seating as well as outdoor. Always get the root beer! read more

As soon as my wife and I drove by A&W we knew that a visit would be in our cards for the weekend. I ordered a bacon burger with cheese curds while my wife got chicken tenders, onion rings and a float. The staff were incredibly nice and rather prompt. The price was a little high and significantly so as compared to McDs, but I would chalk that up to the products being fresher. My wife was disappointed that there were no curly fries or chicken wings on the menu like in Singapore where she grew up and frequented A&W. The bathroom line was very long. It made me wonder whether they only had one bathroom or one of them were out of service. Good thing I did not have to go. The food was pretty good. No one makes a root beer float like A&W. My grandson and I have a tradition of coming here to talk over rootbeer floats, and its a great thing to do with him. This place has all the old ambiance you expect from an original A&W. There aren't many left around. Stop in if you get the chance, its surely the only place like it for many miles around. read more

Every time I come to Nisswa during the summer, I just have to stop here. Just your typical burgers/french fries and they are tasty and fresh. FYI: I've had a&ws in the cities and they are disappointing just in the freshness of their products and fries were soggy. The root beer and the floats are the best part and come in nice tall glasses if you choose to eat there. They also have an outdoor place to eat. read more

When so few A&W restaurants are still brewing their own rootbeer, this restaurant does! You just can't beat the taste of homemade! Be prepared to eat light if you order a rootbeer float in a frosty mug. You simply won't have room! Awesome cheese curds! The staff if is friendly, and work hard to get your order out quickly. Their new barbecue bacon slaw burger will not disappoint!!! If you're looking for a good old fashioned corn dog, they've got it! Very tasty! I haven't had one of their shakes I didn't like.
