Whoever is making the quesabirria deserves a raise. I've tried telling myself I'd order something different every visit... it hasn't happened yet. The meat is always tender, the cheese is perfectly crispy, and the consommé is packed with flavor. Pair it with a Lime Jarritos and you'll understand why. The staff is always friendly, the service is fast, and the restaurant is clean with plenty of seating. Every meal I've had here has been consistently amazing. Easily the best Mexican restaurant in Brainerd, if you haven't been yet, you're seriously missing out. read more

I came to town for work and was looking for some dinner places. I came across this location on Yelp. It looked fresh so I decided to give it a try. They told me this is their brand new location. The inside is bright, clean, and new. They had a great layout to build your burritos or bowls and the prices were fantastic. I got the steak burrito bowl with cilantro rice, black beans, queso, and veggies. Everything was fresh, clean tasting, and tender. Though the steak was super tender, it was a little salty, but it balanced the fresh vegetables nicely. Great dinner! read more

Burritos California - 3 carnitas flour tacos. Cali style, no creme! - Mexican Near Me - Brainerd, Minnesota

The Best!!! We love everything here. Always friendly staff. Clean. Kind of like Chipotle but waaaaayy better. A total must.

The staff at this location are always charming and helpful and the food is consistently the same which is moderately delicious and reasonably fresh. You can get a cup of queso or fajitas and they will customize your wrap as you like, and the refrigerator full of drinks meet you at the end of checkout. They are never terribly busy and you are always able to get in and out in under 10 minutes. read more

The burrito and tacos were some of the best I have ever had. Reasonable prices, and the place was very clean

We ordered door dash tonight and the 3 of couldn't finish our food. We had 2 orders of tacos. The ground beef was so salty and greasy. The burrito with grilled chicken was not good either. So bummed! We've eaten here in the past and it was great! read more

Lots of choices to creat your own plate. We went right before closing and it was really good. There is large lighted sign on street but only a burrito on the building so keep your eyes open! Would stop again if in the area. read more

Went here tonight for dinner. CLOSED! 6:30 pm. Website says open until 9. I was so excited to bring my son here.

Hands down, the best burrito I had in this area. I'm visiting from Texas by way of California, I've had my shares of some delicious Mexican food. I was quiet surprised with this place. And look At the burrito, it's gigantic and for around $10. You can't find a better meal read more

FOOD IS L E G I T !! I'm shocked at how good and authentic the food is. Service is great! Best Mexican found in the area. Please support this local business you won't be disappointed read more

Burritos California is definitely one of them little hole in the wall joints you'd end up passing right up if you blinked while driving thru Brainerd, not really much for signage outside besides some pictures in the windows but if you happen to find it you'll be leavin with a swamped out belly. The place is set up like a chipotle with the options laid out and they make the food right in front of you, but it's definitely more authentic then your middle of the mall type Qdoba or chipotle joint. I opted for the Shredded Chicken this go round. The chicken had good flavor to it mixed with peppers, the Spanish rice was aight. I will say I got the hottest sauce they had in the jernt and there wasn't much kick to it to this gringo..... they could definitely step that up. But all in all it was definitely a damn good burrito for just over $11 out the door. I'll definitely stop at this lil dive jernt every time I pass thru brainerd to fill my burrito craving read more

I feel the food is alert's hot and fresh. I feel you get a good serving. The guys are always friend Lydia

Clean, cute, fast, affordable. We stopped here on our way to the bike park and were extremely satisfied with the food and the service. Everything was flavorful and made fresh. They handled a line of 9 people like nothing. We were in and out in ten minutes, from ordering to eating. We loved it so much, we stopped again on our way out of town. read more

Fresh, fresh, fresh! Excellent food, clean restaurant, fair price. And did I mention fresh ingredients?? Guacamole is top notch, queso is tasty. Only "complaint" is the carnitas is a bit too finely shred, almost to the consistency of toddler food, but even so it was delicious. Will definitely be going back. read more

Burritos California is tucked away just off Hwy 210 in west Brainerd in the parking lot with Wells Fargo and the UPS store. We are regulars here. To us the fresh ingredients makes BC what it is. With these fresh ingredients you can build your burrito or bowl any way your like. Only thing I would like to see added is fresh jalapeños vs the pickled available today. Staff is super friendly and helpful. read more

Delicious burritos. This place seems to be an extension of El Tequila. The menu includes burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and beverages. It is set up similarly to a Chipotle or Subway in that you choose all the components of your burrito while they assemble it in front of you. This is a great option for a quick and fresh lunch in Brainerd. read more

I'm still thinking about the burrito I had from here. I drove out from Duluth to run errands and decided to pick up a burrito on the way, and I'm glad I did. From what I could tell, all of the components were house made and the queso tied everything together. I definitely thought about going back for a second burrito for later. Don't sleep on the hot sauces either - they have a wide variety. read more

Chipotle style menu but the meat and fixings are better. I split a burrito with my Sister and still couldn't finish. Good guacamole but skip the cheese sauce. Their front door is a step or two from Erberts and Gerberts. A lady walks in while I'm eating and asks, "What happened to Erberts and Gerberts? Did they move??" The man working the counter stays silent... Lady says, "I just want a sandwhich." The man behind the counter says, "You want beef burrito? Chicken?" I giggled and thought what a sheister! He won't tell her that she just came in the wrong door. I should have but she was already ordering her lunch. Sorry lady, look to the left on your way out. You missed the sandwhich shop by three inches. read more

As far as fast food choices in the Brainerd area, Burritos California is my first choice. Burritos California is a blatant knock-off of Chipotle (and I'm more than OK with that). They have a comparable list of ingredient choices and flavor profiles. The food is flavorful (this is a big one for me since the flavor profile of most "food" in the area seems to be limited to salt and fat), done quickly, and cheap. edit: I just finished my third burrito and it was just as good as the previous two. So far, I've tried, chicken, steak, and chorizo and liked them all. Edit2: Now that they've been in business a while, they've worked out all the kinks of a new place. Previously, I had rated 4-stars but am bumping it up to 5 because they've got me hooked. They really kicked up the heat in the hot salsa (highly recommend) and the chorizo is outstanding. read more

The restaurant is open for dine in or take out. The staff is warm and friendly. The place is smaller but clean and fill of bright colors and Spanish wrestler pictures. It's a fast food set up, so the food is ready to go the moment you walk in. It reminds me of Chipotle from the burrito bowls they have to the food they offer. I had a carnitas bowl, it was good. They also gave me double meat and extra salsa at no charge. Loved the food and the place. They didn't have any pico de gallo or my favorite habanero salsa. That's why I'm giving them 4 stars. Overall good place to eat affordable, tasty food. read more

Just like Chipotle but better! Fresh ingredients and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

We were lucky to search and spot this in the results. This is EXCELLENT! Great set up for serving during Covid-19. We will be back!

First visit to this restaurant was good. The price was very good for the amount of food. The flavores were good. Not the best mexican we have had but certainly not the worst either. Portion sizes were very good but the overall flavor was a bit lackluster. No real pop of flavors. Otherwise this was good lunch for t he price. As connoisseurs of Mexican cuisines we have high standards regarding mexican flavor profiles. For us this falls a little short. Otherwise better than the Bell.... read more

Was "right here in Brainerd" for a wedding two weeks ago and after a weekend of bland Midwest cuisine, Burritos California stood out like a shining light of authentic culinary salvation.
