During my visit, a bartender who I believe was named Terry openly told us that The Pickle is pro ICE and, even more disturbingly, specifically expressed support for separating mothers from their children. I want to be very clear that I am describing what was said to me by an employee while he was behind the bar representing this establishment. I cannot speak to whether ownership officially shares those views, but I can absolutely speak to how appalled I was hearing them expressed so casually to customers. I do not care where a mother was born, what language she speaks, what her ethnicity is, or what her immigration status may be. I will never support treating human beings as though their families and their suffering matter less because they were born on the other side of a border. There are plenty of bars in this area where I can spend my money without listening to someone behind the bar advocate for separating families. Until The Pickle makes it clear that these statements do not represent its values, I will gladly spend my money elsewhere, and I strongly encouragement anyone who believes basic HUMAN DIGNITY should extend to everyone to do the same.
