I used to come here often on my way to work, just to get the breakfast sandwich. Of the various chains offering that, my favorite version is at A&W. Unfortunately as with the rising costs everywhere, it is becoming too expensive to have that frequently. So it is now a treat and only if I have a coupon. Though at $5.99 combo coupon (Jan 2024), it is still a treat now. This is a huge outlet with plenty of seatings. It is 24 hours. It gets very busy in the morning and you'll see many seniors here having coffee and a chat. Service is ok. It can be a bit slow as they focus on the drive thru. On my recent visit, I saw signs outside it is for sale. Guess it will be the end of another era when this gets sold. There will be less of stand-alone fast food joint offering late night eats. The parking lot is dumpy and bumpy with uneven road surface. read more

Old school location along Kingsway. Parking is available in their lumpy lot. With the pandemic closing all dining areas, it is nice that this place has an outdoor picnic area. The Buddy burger isn't bad. Sauteed onions are beautiful. Special mention. Coffee here is pretty decent too. Some say that it's better than McDonald's, but personally I think they're both equally good. read more

Was in the area for an early appointment and decided to stop in a get a quick meal. Made my order paid and had to wait a bit, understandable no issues there at all. My food comes and the woman that handed me my meal had a terrible attitude ( this is the only reason I'm giving the one star, it's to early to deal with a trash attitude) she was here's your order and shoved in my hands I'm like can I get some ketchup please? It's in the bag ! I'm like you sure ? YES ! Ok I'm like ok thanks ( I should have looked right then and there but stupidity made me shuffle off) I get to my appointment and sure enough not one ketchup packet to be seen. One of my biggest pet peeves is dealing with terrible customer service especially in the am. Who needs attitude while their still trying to wake up. read more

It's been a long time since I visit or eaten at a A&W but we use to have this chain in Az but they have all closed. Great burgers and a lot better alternative to just going to McDonald's. The service was kinda slow but worth it since food was fresh and hot. read more

A&W - Fast Food Near Me - Burnaby, British Columbia

While I'm not opposed to non-meat burgers per se, I've tried many over the years with varying level of success. Generally, the thing that usually turns me off "veggie" burgers is the texture. Recently A&W has been really promoting their "Beyond Meat" burger which they claim is made from 100% plant-based protein. Sounds kinda vague, doesn't it? What exactly is "plant-based" protein? Is this a "veggie" burger or is this something else? When you go to their website, the list of ingredients include red beets (for colour and vitamins), coconut oil (for a juicy flavour), yellow peas (for the protein), pomegranates (for vitamins), mung beans (for texture), rice (for protein), potatoes (a binder), and apples (for antioxidants). The burger is topped with lettuce, tomato, red onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayo (and you can add cheese to your burger at an additional cost). Okay, that's a lot of information... but how does it look and taste? The burger itself looked fairly "normal" with the exception that the meatless patty looked slightly lighter in colour than you'd expect with a meat patty. Full disclosure - I added a couple of onion rings to my burger as I expected the texture of the patty to be a bit off. The burger actually tasted pretty good... my best description would be that it tasted like a burger with a lot of fixins'. As I expected, the Beyond Meat patty did have something which was missing in the texture - like it was too soft. However, the addition of the crunchy onion rings helped to camouflage the missing texture of the patty. Would I order it again? Not sure. If you look at the nutritional information, the Beyond Meat burger actually has more calories, fat, and sodium than their regular Teen Burger so I wouldn't necessarily consider this a "healthy" alternative. Also note that this burger is cooked on the same grill as their meat burgers (and the mayo and cheese contain dairy) so this wouldn't really be considered vegan friendly. But if you're looking for an alternative to a meat burger, this might be an option that you'd want to try out. On August 16th, I came back to A&W because they were having a special promotion going to support people suffering from MS (A&W would donated $2 from the sale of every Teen Burger). As it turned out, they had a sign on their front door saying that they were all sold our of their Beyond Meat burgers (I guess they must be really popular). I stuck with my Teen Burger and made sure to stuff a few fries in it (does anyone else do this?). I heard that it took about 2 months before the Beyond Meat Burger came back in stock. A&W being a franchise and all, you can't really comment on the taste of food too much, although A&W has some great quality burgers; the food preparation and service though, we can talk about....mine was fine and everything was speedy and normal! I ordered two Buddy Burgers via Skip the Dishes. I specifically said no ketchup, mustard and pickles: 1) In the app section where you select what ingredients to add, I made sure ketchup, mustard, and pickles are not checked 2) In the quantity of ingredients section, I made sure the quantity is ZERO for all these items And both my burgers have pickles and are swimming in ketchup and mustard. We got a coupon in the mail for two teen burgers for 10 bucks. However this price was too much given the service we received. The floor to wait to order was sticky. We had to wait 20 mins just to order because their was only one person on till- during dinner time. When we did order my friends burger with no mayo came with extra mayo. The entire staff spoke in a foreign language to each other in front of guests. Super unprofessional. For a fast food restaurant you'd expect fast service. Went to this location today and one of the staff treated me very unfriendly. They should have the numbers or the receipt for waiting customers to pick up. The casher asked me to stand left side wait to pick up after my purchase but when I stand left side and another staff switched to the right side of purchasing cash machine to give the ready order to the waiting customer. I did not know or can hear clearly if my order was ready and confused with the coming pick up order was mine and then this staff treated me very rude and spoken not friendly and made me feel very uncomfortable. Whenever going through this A&W drive-thru you need to ensure to check your bag after it being handed to you. 3/3 times I've gone through my order has been completely wrong... its always the same worker in the window to who clearly doesn't know how to pack a bag or input an order properly. After getting the wrong food I went inside to get it switched & to mention to the manager this happens multiple times with the same window worker... a guy came in after needing to also get HIS food corrected as well. They don't even have a clue when the beyond meat burger is gonna be available again not very helpful. Horrible service! If u go to this a&w make sure you go in and get your food so you can check it in front of the employees. Went threw drive threw as I was in a rush. Order a double papa burger and that was the only thing they got right. Burger was over cooked tho, they didn't ask me fries or onion rings, they just put onion ring in. Ordered a rootbeer and got coke, only 3/4 filled as well and didn't put any condiments or even a straw in the bag. Not going back there again! read more

It feels weird reviewing a fast food place, but here goes. Received some coupons in the mail and thought, haven't been to A+W in forever, I could go for a frosted mug! The cool thing about the coupons were that they could each be used five times, saving paper is awesome! This location must be sketchy because at 8 o'clock in the evening you have to wander all around trying to get in because they lock most of the doors and barricade them with chairs (no lie!) Also, it was dead. Like post apocalyptic dead with rolling tumble weeds. Yet our order took forever and the girl behind the counter didn't both walking our tray to us, she just yelled. Not to be snobby but they always walk stuff you wait for out to you at Wendy's! haha. The WORST service I have ever seen. The girl taking orders I believe her name was Kim seemed to be stoned and was extremely rude. Super slow service and very unprofessional. This girl should be fired immediately. What kind of management allows their employees to work when they are visibly high on something. She was completely uncoordinated and out of it. I was once a regular here but am now appalled and will not be returning and will definitely be spreading the word. If anyone knows how to contact the owners of the restaurant please let me know as the should know how it is being run.
