When we initially set an appointment for him to come to home to give me an estimate he didn't show up at the time scheduled. He called me about 2 hours later and said he could be there 2 hours from then. I made him aware that I wouldn't be home and for him to call me with the estimate. He called me later that night apologizing for the inconvenience and that he'd be able to come the next day to give me an estimate. The next day comes and he said he'd be at my home around 11am. He called me around 1pm with an estimate. I agreed with estimate and the next day he came out to start on my yard. When he arrived he asked to take a look around my yard(which I was under the impression he had already did that. Oh yeah and I originally sent him pictures through Yelp messenger). He then states that he didn't realize I had so many trees because he actually didn't come out when he gave me the quote. He gave me the quote based off of the pictures I sent. So he tried to charge me an extra $200 which was a no go for me! He was able to trim 1 bush and trim 2 trees by himself in about 3 hours. I paid him half for the work he did. He said he'd be back two days later (began on Saturday so he'd be back Monday) to pick up the tree debris in my front yard and finish with the other 5 trees, weeds and bush that was left. Monday came and he called me while I'm at work saying that he couldn't come and that he'd be there Tuesday. SMH! He finally finishes Tuesday but calls me and asks if I could deposit the money for him into his business account.......WHAT?! Lol. My total experience with him was the MOST UNprofessional experience I've ever had with a company that has "Professional" not only in the title of the company but leads with it. My yard looks good but he didn't spray for my weeds, not all my weeds were pulled and the leaves in my backyard weren't blown away. My trees look great though! That's the only reason I gave a 2 star rating. If you're okay with inconsistency and unreliability then I would recommend this company. Other than that.....last resort only.

This review has been in the making for five months. Sergio was hired to landscape the backyard of…read moreour newly built home, so it was a clean slate, just dirt. We had a plan drawn up from a different landscaper and Sergio said he could do it. We negotiated a price with him and his crew got to work (in June). They started digging trenches for irrigation lines and sprinklers, along with a trench for a gas line. They did this without painting the design or even marking it in the dirt. After a few days, we had to stop them to get the project back in line with the drawing. Pavers started to go down on a patio and a raised sitting area, along with rocks. It took about another week to complete and to get the final touches in (grass, trees and plants). Since the grass had to be watered heavily at the beginning, there were issues with flooding and water leaking into our neighbor's yard. Not to mention our soil was wet in areas of the backyard where there were no water lines. The water was seeping too far. This was also in the month of June when we are having average temperatures of 110+, along with backyard in full sun all day long. It seemed odd that the water would not drain nor evaporate. This made us truly think there was a leak. Sergio came out to the house multiple times (after multiple calls/texts) and kept stating the water was on too long, each time reducing the was on the timer. We also questioned the plants and trees about a guarantee since they would planted in the heat of the summer. Sergio said he would guarantee them. We went back-and-forth for a couple months since the majority of the trees died along with most of the plants. We still had water issues along with our raised patio was sinking. Sergio said he would come back and fix it and this just dragged on and on. There been multiple times where he said he would come out and then not show up without a call nor a text. Now after five months of dealing with this, we have given up on getting the backyard repaired by Sergio. We are going to cut our losses. The aggravation of dealing with this for months at a time is ridiculous. We have contacted another landscaper to complete the yard. The "new" landscaper came out and found a leak at the value within 15 minutes being in the backyard. He has replaced four of the trees and will replace the plants in February. He is also going to correct the raised patio with a solid base.

This is our second home today and will be our retirement home in a few years, so getting it right mattered. We had already started plans with another designer, but that relationship did not work out--the designer simply didn't "get" us. Rob was different from the very beginning. He listened carefully to everything we wanted and immediately understood our priorities. When I explained that we had a small yard and wanted to make use of every inch, he fully embraced that challenge. Our vision included an outdoor kitchen with both a gas grill and a Kamado grill, a fountain, a beehive fireplace, pavers covering roughly 80% of the yard, and a cactus-forward desert aesthetic. We were also considering a pergola and a covered extension. We started the planning process months in advance, and Rob was patient throughout. We went through multiple design iterations as we refined and dialed in the plan, and he never rushed the process. His large-scale, highly detailed drawings were extremely professional and gave us confidence before construction ever began. We were out of state at our primary residence for roughly the first 75% of the project. I had cameras installed at the front of the property and could watch some of the early progress remotely. About halfway through the project, I came out to select the granite for the outdoor kitchen, and with help from Rob's crew chief, I installed cameras in the backyard as well. That allowed me to watch the final stages--planting, fireplace construction, and finishing work--from out of state. Rob's crew is exceptional. They work like a tight-knit family. They are detail-oriented and do not cut corners. I watched hours of them working. They actively consult with each other, debate angles and placement, and redo work when something doesn't come out exactly right. They are extremely competent, and when rework is required, they take it on without hesitation or attitude. The yard was beautifully graded, the patio layout is graceful and well balanced, and the team followed the plans precisely--including plant placement, rock selection, and berm design. I rarely encounter workers whose standards match my own, but this crew is focused, disciplined, and holds itself to a very high bar. We are extremely pleased with the final outcome and would confidently recommend Coconut Contracting to anyone looking to create a high-quality, thoughtfully designed outdoor living space.

When the maintenance crew would be here, they would be sleeping underneath the tree they would be here for maybe 30 minutes and the allocated time was one hour and then they would leave. The communication with Rob was terrible. My friend referred me to Rob and she is so embarrassed that she referred me. They charge over and beyond what other companies charge which I did not mind paying thinking that I was going to get superb service which I did not I would not recommend.

We also encountered some issues with the city planning and permitting process that required more of our personal involvement than expected. While Sonoran is clearly one of the most creative and talented landscape companies out there, they would benefit from having a stronger project management system or dedicated project management team to help streamline communication and timelines. This is my fault, but I was out of the country for a couple of months while the company was doing the install, and I was too busy to give the project the careful thought that it required. After being in the house for one week, I decided that I was unhappy enough to be feel bad instead of happy about my new front and back yards. I decided to find another landscaper to totally redo the landscaping. I had seen the Desert Sage Landscaping truck several times over the past few months working on nicely landscaped properties (I rented a house in the community for 8 moths while they built my house). I liked what I saw. I talked with one of the guys and he took me to the owner, Miguel. I liked having the owner actively maintaining landscapes because that gave me confidence that he had a lot of practical, on the job experience with plants in our desert environment. I showed him my front and back yards and told him what I wanted done. I asked him about many plants that I liked and he told me what was good and what was bad. He was speaking from experience in maintaining so many properties. He gave me a plan within 24 hours and began a couple of days later. He and his crew spent about a week replacing the walkways and plants, and adding boulders, hills, irrigation, lights and many plants. The price was reasonable and the result is excellent. Basically the job that he did for us was worth about 1/10 of what we paid. We paid to have irrigation done in our backyard because we have real grass. It was not done properly. The irrigation can't handle the grass so every year we have to come up with a solution. The subcontractor that Jeff used is honest and told us that they cut corners. So now we are paying the subcontractor directly to redo our irrigation. We had a travertine patio done also. I recently found out that the travertine that was installed is from at least 3 different color palates. It is most likely scraps from other jobs that we paid full price for. Our job was done during Covid and I'm sure travertine was hard to find, but the fact that he never told us we were getting scrap travertine is so deceptive. It is cracking and falling apart and should be guaranteed, but they won't stand behind it. Every single tree, bush, flower, and I mean literally every one that they planted died within a few months. They give you a short warranty period and then won't stand behind their work. Weirdly, they said that the business had been sold since we had our work done. This was said via email. When we were speaking with a pool company that works with them, they said Jeff Held is still the owner. Another lie. I have heard from other neighbors that used him and were happy with the work that was done, so I don't know why we were so mistreated. We are pretty easy to work with and just ask for honesty and communication. We got neither. Stay far away from this company. Beyond disappointed in their customer service.
