They often refuse to take wine bottles at the Alessandro location of Sunset Recycling Center. I got…read moreinto a shouting match with the recycling center's employee and manager (Manny). They said THEY DIDN'T HAVE ROOM for my bottles and they expected me to go away! This was the THIRD time the bottle return has been refused. I finally, after complaining loudly, got them to accept the bottles. How outrageous is this? All for TEN DOLLARS! SHAME! The State of California forces you to pay a bottle deposit fee but then, refuses to return the fee if you return the BOTTLE. Just OUTRAGEOUS! I filed a complaint with the state of California. Here is where you can file a complaint with this outrageous "business." https://calrecycle.ca.gov/bevcontainer/complaints/ I took pictures too. And I hope CalRecycling gets them. SHAME on this company. We should all file complaints when they refuse our returns!

If you said, "This place is a dump," no one could disagree, including the owner. But I loved…read morecoming here, because my 680 lbs of scrap lumber have a home and it's NOT my back yard. The line to drop off a sofa or appliances is really long, which is expected as so many of those things are tossed out. But the line for other waste (lumber, construction debris, vegetation) is much shorter. Luckily on this day I had straight lumber--clean, not mixed. They weigh your entire rig upon entry, and you pay a deposit, typically $40 for basic loads. Go where you are directed and hurl your load onto whatever pile they direct you to. Was fun for me to throw lumber into the sky and onto a heap of other lumber. On the way out they weigh your rig again, and poof there's the number of tons you donated to the heap. You pay based on that number. Seems accurate, and fair. The smell is what you'd expect--musty but not overwhelming. Looks like they sell compost, too. I am glad there's a company that takes care of this stuff. Man I will tell you some of the piles are HIGH.
