They often refuse to take wine bottles at the Alessandro location of Sunset Recycling Center. I got into a shouting match with the recycling center's employee and manager (Manny). They said THEY DIDN'T HAVE ROOM for my bottles and they expected me to go away! This was the THIRD time the bottle return has been refused. I finally, after complaining loudly, got them to accept the bottles. How outrageous is this? All for TEN DOLLARS! SHAME! The State of California forces you to pay a bottle deposit fee but then, refuses to return the fee if you return the BOTTLE. Just OUTRAGEOUS! I filed a complaint with the state of California. This location closes early, before their posted closing time, too often. Multiple times, I've seen this over the last few months. Today I arrived at 2:50pm on a Sunday, more than 1 hour before their closing time of 4 pm, and they're closed. There were other cars also parked and arriving/leaving so who knows how many people can't get their recycling done. They've said to me before that they will close early if they are full / can't receive more recyclables. I understand if it happens once in a while. But since this happens multiple times, it seems like they aren't managing this location well enough to meet the demand. They are leaving people like me frustrated with wasted gas, effort, and time out of their day. read more

Convenient and easy to deal with. Not busy so it makes it a fast recycling center! Also, some people are helpful when you take your items.

I'm sure this would be a great place to recycle if they opened! Got here at 9:00 AM, when the website says they open. I've been here 45 minutes and nobody has showed up. The first couple of times I came to this location there were no issues for me at all. All my recyclables were taken. All plastics and all cans. I came here today with the exact same type of recyclables to have the employee say we do not take milk gallons. First time I've seen this gentleman & I'm not one to cause a scene. I said "you guys have taken them before and I've been coming here for years". His response was "I don't know who took them but we aren't supposed to". I had an entire orange bin filled with them. I don't believe I will be returning to this location, unless magically I am able to recycle all my items without issue. I went to recycle data cable, cat5e/6. These are copper cable not mixed and they put it as #1 mixed wire not #2 and gave me .15 cents pp. know what your going there with and don't let them tell buoy what you got. read more

Never on time. And one Saturday I waited for 45 minutes before anyone showed up and when I called the business they didn't answer but responded via text telling me that someone was there which was a LIE. Whenever the attendant is there she is nice but If you value your time go elsewhere. read more

Got there with my load of bottles and cans had to wait for the 3 customers before me but it went fast and all went well.

I took 4 trash bags @ 15 lbs (take or give) each = 60 lbs total! According to attendant it was only 40.9 lbs! It's all BS! I weighed each bag! Their a rip off!!!!! Be aware!!! They don't show you scale reading or give you a receipt! I asked to take a picture of receipt. FYI, I had previously gone to Cash4cans earlier the same day with 4 trash bags at 15lbs (take or give) each and got $99.76. See receipts, (yes Cash4Cans gives you a receipt) time, addresses, and dates are clearly visible on receipts. I can only fit 4 trash bags of recyclables in my vehicle and I weigh each bag before I take to recycling center. I know what $ to expect for my recyclables. First time at Sunset recycling. Never again!! I only went to Sunstet bcz it was closer to me. Will be reporting them to county Weights & Measures! Plus they claim to have surveillance! Would love for them to prove me wrong! Update from Sunset: All you have to do is ask for a copy of the receipt, we never hand out an extra receipt unless requested by customer. Furthermore, I know you're story is fabricated and false because we have a ton of customers on a daily basis from Cash4cans that come to us because they don't get ripped off and also they trust us and they receive more money. The moment materials hit the scale it gets recorded. There is no way to alter weights. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to reach out. Update (Me): And yes! That's why I asked for a receipt copy! It's not a false statement! You have surveillance on location! You should check them before you claim it's a false statement! Could it be you're employee did a separate ticket for his keeping? maybe that's why my request for receipt copy was refused? Or is that impossible? Anyway, I don't lie nor am I in the recycling business to be making false statements. P.S. You should have you're employees open doors on stated hours, not 30 minutes after. Update from Sunset: Make sure you are using a commercial grade scale. My employee that works that site is a girl not a guy. So this further proves to me that this is 100% fabricated review. This place is bomb!!! It's at an awesome location in the riverside area. Shout out to the employee Jesus for being so helpful and very professional.
