Working with the entire team at VanDeck was an amazing experience start to finish…read more I reached out to Vandeck in February and received a follow up call almost immediately. Andriy came to our house a few day after we spoke and measured the space. From there he drew up a design based on the details I had asked for. After he shared the design with us we met again (on the phone) and reviewed some changes we wanted to see in the plans. He was so prompt with updating the visuals I was honestly in awe. After we came to an agreement on design and were given the quote we signed the contract. We opted to pay for the deck in installments which made it much easier for us to move forward with. The team was able to start on our deck about 2 weeks after the contract was signed. It was still winter so weather had prevented them from starting sooner. I also believe our timing was perfect because we were able to get our deck in before the summer rush. The team who built the deck were amazing(Gamlet and Levan). They were so kind, the cleaned up after themselves (they had to bring all of the supplies through our basement as there is no yard access). I felt like the back yard looked cleaner when they were done than it had when they started. The earthquake in NYC hit about a week after the deck was complete and I noticed that one of the posts on our pergola needed longer screws. Other than that there was zero impact on the deck from the earthquake it is so strong and sturdy. I reached out to Andriy and he had the guys over within a day or two to add some additional screws for support. Overall it was an amazing experience working with the Vandeck team and I would absolutely recommend them. If we ever move to a new home I can promise that they will be one of the first calls I make.

They serviced for us a chain link automation gate that was only working half of the time. We did try to use other contractors before them. We got answers like you need a new motor to you need a new gate. NYC iron works and welding were able to put their finger on the problem, and instead of spending couple thousands, we only paid $300 plus tax for the repair (one of the contractors was burned). I'm happy to review their services, and I can tell you now they will be my first call when I whenever I will need iron works or welding services.

When space is at a hyper premium, let Stephen at Sticks for Stones make the most of your space…read more I contacted them because I was less than enthusiastic about the pre-made solutions I came across for lofting a bed. IKEA was too rickety, Big Apple too boring, so I found Sticks for Stones website and ordered a custom made lofted bed. They worked with me to figure out what I needed and how to make it happen. I currently have a queen lofted bed with enclosed closet underneath and couldn't be happier. I live in a studio that's under 200 square feet, so smart planning is essential. I have ample storage, more floor space, and I don't feel like I'm sleeping next to the ceiling which is key. I have recommended, and will continue to recommend Sticks for Stones to any New Yorker considering a loft bed.
