So, I bought four Abloy Protec2 deadbolts after being robbed. I thought to myself, "how hard could it be to install a deadbolt?" Dear me, it's not that easy when you buy top-of-the-line ones. Ones with tails that need a Dremel to cut, and a chisel and wood bit to enlarge various openings in my doors. Paul came fast, early and proceeded to install these locks professionally and timely - despite this being the *first time* he's ever encountered them. And it was a bit of a pain for him. But he got the job done at an extremely reasonable price. He was quite sociable too, and taught me a few basic pointers about chiseling and what locks not to buy (Kwikset Smartkey). It was quite a stressful day because I had taken my car to jiffy lube to get the oil changed and when I left there, I discovered my keys were missing and not inside the car where they were supposed to be. I had locked myself out of my bedroom today (it has a keyed lock and not a traditional bedroom lock) and having only my phone with me I started to look up "how to unlock locks" or "how to pick keyed bedroom locks". Needless to say I gave up on picking the lock rather quickly and instead searched for best locksmith in San Jose. A-Able Locksmith was the first one on the list on yelp. I messaged A-Able along with 5 other local locksmiths using yelp. Three of the other locksmiths responded via message with questions or quotes; unreasonable price and questions were basically 'where are you? - we might not service your area' (but your a mobile locksmith who's address is listed 5 miles from my house address...how do you not provide service 5 miles from your business address...I mean what the ffff). Anyways; A-Able was the only one to give me a call (the 5 locksmith didn't even get back to me). We spoke on the phone at 11:22AM during which I was provided with a reasonable quote. I asked them when can they come? They said they were nearby and could come by before going to another job in the opposite direction. Paul (I think that was the gentleman's name but I could be wrong as I was distracted by work call when he showed up) was here at 11:41AM. He understood my urgency without me having to explain anything other than yeah I have work today. He got here fast and within 5minutes he had the door unlocked. Paul was excellent, fast, efficient, sincere, and nice! I had admittedly an odd problem: copies of our house key I would get from Lowe's or Home Depot just wouldn't work in the lock for some reason. I called Paul because of his rave reviews and discovered they were spot on. He first sincerely tried to dissuade me from calling him thinking I was asking for just simple copies of a house key because he didn't want me to pay his minimum fee for coming to my house for nothing. I thought that was particularly nice of him but I explained I actually wanted a locksmith to come and check out why copies of the house key have been failing. He came and the first thing I noticed is that for the one footstep he may have had to step into my home, he quietly removed his shoes first without my even asking. The person was courteous and told me he was booked at the moment. This was fine as I just needed to get to my car before work was over at 5. Our Front door lock was giving issues. Based on the reviews, I called this locksmith for repair. The technician came and repaired it. Afterwards the lock latch was loose. When I called and asked him to repair it he said he will have to charge me again. And he said he did not repair the lock but only re-keyed it. I had to call some other locksmith again for the lock repair. I will not recommend this locksmith. read more

I called him earlier today (he was the nicest and cheapest locksmith I found on Yelp) and scheduled him to come change my locks at 7pm.
