Absolutely everything about this business is garbage. Their services suck, their employees are incompetent, their website sucks, their ability to schedule appointments sucks, and I'm not even confident they understand pool chemistry. Tried to schedule an appointment to vacuum my pool online, the website says to email, the employee responds saying to call, I call, they point me back to the site, and around we go until my wife has the smart idea to screenshot what the website says. They finally come out and tell me the pool is too far gone for a vacuum because the algae is too thick on the bottom. Well it wouldn't have been if you morons would have come out when I first tried to get you out here. Additionally, algae is easily treated with an algaecide. Simply add the algaecide I had in the shed, email me that you used the treatment, and schedule a vacuuming later. This is not hard. Or, email me with options, not just "we can't do anything." Lazy. Or stupid. Or both. Not sure. But these people suck. read more

Just got into a verbal altercation with one of the young boys that works there the same as everybody else $500 to open the pool they come do half the job dont communicate with you and then basically blame you for not knowing how to operate your pool and saying that we don't use them on a weekly basis. Couldn't have a worse option for your pool. They don't answer emails or calls. They agree to services and don't perform them. You have to badger them to get someone out to your house and they do a terrible job. The Media location did nothing for us and were extremely unhelpful no matter who we talked to. We've been using them for two years and thought it was possibly just the rude staff on the phone or that the person coming to our home was bad at their job but it seems to be the entire service. [919] 4/2018 We used this Aquavita location to install our new pool liner. Plenty of off street parking at this Baltimore Pike location. We wanted to have our liner installed before it got busy so we put a deposit. We had to call a couple of times to nail down a date. It was bit of a task having to keep calling back. The friendly guys installing the liner did a great job with the liner. We did not get a bill or were told on how to pay the balance. We received a bill in the mail a week or so later ( which is fine). read more

Crazy great service, replaced filter and multi-valve, then when on site replaced capacitor in our pump, asked for quote for switch - quoted and replaced same day!! Then when on site mentioned gas heater showed some carbon residue - sat down cleaned the ports and fixed the heater too!! Who does that today?? Aquavita Media! Super value! read more

Do not use them, very bad experience! I used their Media location to repair pool equipment, they did a bad job initially, but when I complained they re-did the work at no extra charge.I decided to use them for chemical maintenance while on vacation and would never recommend them after my experience. They said they would use my chlorine if I left any out, and even agreed not to use chlorine tabs since my pool gets high cyuranic acid from tabs. I started the service a week before leaving... they never came out that first week. I left a new bucket of chlorine that cost me $300, it was enough to last the whole season. when I got back 3 weeks later, my bucket was gone and they charged me hundreds extra for their chlorine tabs and powder. The chlorine level was sky high and they used so many tabs that my cyuranic acid is too high and I will need to drain my pool and re-fill with fresh water. When I called to complain, they were extremely aggressive and refused to accept that they did anything wrong. read more

I have been using Aquavita Pools to open and close my pool for 4 years. Last year 2020 and this year 2021 I have had issues with the staff that closed the pool. This year when I went into the store to share my displeasure I was met with attitude from Greg, the store manager as if I did something wrong by complaining about the service I received. He said with attitude (and I am paraphrasing) he cannot believe they broke the piece they infact broke and performed shotty work. NEWS FLASH THEY BROKE THE PIECE AND THE WORK WAS SHOTTY! Because of the poor customer service I received I will nolonger use Aquavita to service my pool or purchase any product from them. I must say Lynne who works in the office has been very nice to work with over the years. She should have a class on Customer Service with the staff. read more

I can not even begin to express my displeasure. It's extremely unfortunate because they are such a convenient location to where we live. As new pool owners we were unfamiliar to the busy process of opening and closing pools they face this time of the year (totally understandable). Closing our pool for the previous winter was great. They did a fantastic job on educating us and helping us understand what to watch for. Conversely, upon opening the pool was the opposite. While we were slightly unhappy with the amount of time it took to have our pool completely opened for the season (2 weeks), our main issue came with our experience with the store manager, Greg, and a few of his staff when we called. Our first issue was technicians not coming out when either Aquavita said they were or the technicians themselves said they would. Naturally my wife and I would follow up to understand why they never showed and when they were coming next. As new pool owners we both tried to be understanding and patient. The issue continued. Unfortunately, every time we called to follow up we found we were met with what felt like very annoyed individuals on the other end. This made things very uncomfortable for us as we just were trying to understand what was going on. Opening a pool isn't cheap and we at least hoped for proper communication and expectations. On my final call I tried expressing my frustrations with Greg and I couldn't even get a word out. He became very defensive and aggressive. At one point he put them blame on me and I was told at it was my problem that their technicians gave me the incorrect day they were coming back. It was extremely unprofessional. At no point we're my concerns even addressed which is all I really wanted at this point. I really wanted to feel at home with this pool service because of their convenience but my wife and I don't feel comfortable working with them anymore. After seeing other reviews I can sympathize with others that have expressed similar issues. read more

First I'd like to say that I have had some good experiences with the Media location, I was referred to them by my brother because he told me how helpful they were. I am kind of new to the pool life. I have a 14 ft above ground pool and have received help when testing the water but this last time I had an older gentleman who refused help because I didn't buy chemicals from there. The only thing I use regularly is chlorine and I haven't needed it since last year. I have had them test my water and recommend the solutions, which I had purchased from there. I had an algae problem once and had to by 5 gallon buckets of bleach that I got from them. I am so put off by this that I won't go back. I was going to get them to help with a new pool I want after this season is over but I will have to find someone else. Leslie pools is close, I will use them. You don't win customers by being rude and unhelpful. read more

Most of my experience with Aquavita has been positive. I go to the Media location. The owner or manager (not sure what his role is) is very knowledgeable. A few of the younger guys have been good as well. But the one young kid has been consistently rude and a space cadet. He should not be dealing with the public. I have had a staring contest with him that is almost comical. He does not greet customers or ask if we need help. Just stares at you. He has even thrown the receipts down on the counter at me. Very rude and just strange behavior. Has me wondering if I should find another store, because I don't need to deal with someone like this when I am spending quite a bit money for pool chemicals and supplies. read more

Love this place. We purchased our tub in West Chester, not knowing there was a full-service pool and tub operation right in front of our noses. Well, the West Chester place closed down and I was looking for tub and pool places, I came to this site. Not regret it. The friendly and knowledgeable staff is always attentive. The small footprint of the store means that the store is stocked to the rafters with pool and tub chemicals and instruments, so it pays to ask the staff what one is looking for and, Voila, it appears. The attendant could have sold me a seriously expensive hot tub and pool vacuum, but was honest and gave me his recommendation for a hand-vacuum actuated by hydrostatic pressure and it works better than any electric gizmo. Would never use again! Arrogant Customer Service! Told me they didn't want to service my pool anyways! They provided me with the wrong information for opening my pool, male employee who I spoke with after being billed said there was no way I was given that information and I filled pool incorrectly, which resulted in 2 visits and an extra charge. While speaking he was raising his voice and speaking over me. I had to tell him to let me speak. I shared we would rethink using them to close the pool and I was told they didn't want service my pool anyways. Lost customer!!! I hope they loose more. read more

I have now had it with Aquavita Pools. I have used their pool closing service and repair service for about 5 years now and bought many supplies at their store. I know it is a seasonal business and expect to pay a little more than things should costs, but now they are literally charging "what ever the traffic will bare" and price gouging. I needed a pump motor replaced and called to have it fixed a month ago. They said it would be $540 and needed a credit card for 50% payment, which really seemed like a lot since I had replaced one myself a few years back for about $240 for the motor and impellar blade but did not have the time to do it. The tech came out and to my surprised took the motor out in about 10 minutes and said he had to take it to the shop to take the impellar blade off. That is a 5 minute job if you have the motor with you and takes two wrenches. Came back the next morning with another tech who watched him put it back in maybe 15 minutes. I live 12 minutes from their store/shop. A few weeks later I get a bill for $630. $175 for installation, $65 for bench charge, $280 for a cheap Chinese made 1 hp motor ( I had a 1.5 hp motor and they never discussed downsizing it with me) that you can buy online for $160, $75 for the impellar blade that you can buy for $30. I have sent them an email with letter twice this week complaining about their charges and just heard back. Raising this from 1 star to 2 stars now. They are going to make this right, but the tech told them he discussed putting a 1 hp motor on the pool with me which is a lie as I would never in a million years have agreed with that. Aqua vita ruined our pool heater by not adequately draining the system so that ice formed in the heater and destroyed it. This was a one year old heater! For over 20 years I had been dealing with Aquavita in Media and never really had major issues until now. In the past they tried to put customer service first and I continued to trust them. This year my pool had a small hole in the liner which we tried to patch and were unsuccessful. We purchased a new liner from Aquavita and once again they were helpful. We chose not to install it and asked Aquavita to do the install. One person arrived and said everything looked good and he continued to install the liner. He left telling us to continue to fill the pool and he would return the following day, before he went we questioned the wrinkles in the liner and the gentleman told us they will go away as the pool fills. We did as we were asked but the man did not come the following day. We called and were given no explanation. He came late the 3rd day never letting me know he was here, cut the filter openings and left. I was surprised to see the work had been done, but my wrinkles were still there. We called to express our concerns and a woman Lynn told us to fill the pool and the wrinkles would smooth out. They are supposed to be the pros right? Well they were wrong. So now I have a pool full of wrinkles and Aquavita has no time to address my concerns. They were quick to put my check in the bank, but not quick to return any of my 8 phone calls. As a new pool owner, I have been super happy with the help I have gotten from Aquavita in Media. The very first week I moved into my house, a tremendous rainfall resulted in dirt from the hill above my pool cascading into my pool. I had no idea how to deal with the murky pool water that the storm created. Aquavita was fantastic. Told me how to fix it and made two house calls to check things out and help with the clean-up. The staff is knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Just today I stopped in with a water sample to have Aquavita take a look and offer advice. Bought a brand new heater for my new pool and it broke after 2 uses. They are giving me the run around and will not fix or replace .

We moved into a home with a very large old pool (our first) two years ago. After struggling with the previous owner's co. For mos. and numerous ineffective repairs, we came upon Aqua vita. Within two hours they'd fixed the problem. The service guys know their stuff and I've found them unfailingly friendly and willing to answer questions. I see some comment about the phone service being rude. To the contrary--the phone service exhibits an admirable honesty, coupled with the wisdom to under-promise and over-perform. I don't worry about when aqua vita will get to me: it will be as soon as they can and sooner than I would have expected. And when they get here they will T.C.B.! read more

Had a skimmer that needed to be replaced. Have been a loyal customer for years. Ruth was extremely rude to us and all that was on her mind was charging. Did not want to look at it unless I paid a $125 estimate fee. Sent us paperwork giving us a range a $500 to $2200 to fix skimmer. Also, wanted $400 for pressure testing.Take in mind that I have been loyal for many years but another pool company gave a free estimate and actually fixed the job with a legit price. Previously I had always been satisfied with Aquavita. Last spring I went in to look at new pool heaters. I was directed up to the office and I was working with a female sales associate(I cannot remember her name). While looking at the heaters, she asked where I got my pool chemicals. I did not answer right away and then she said "Leslie's Pools??" I stated that I bought them at Costco. She boldly looked at me as if I was lying to her. I stated that I never even been in a Leslie's pool store. She then asked why I did not buy them from Aquavita. I told her the price was better at Costco. I then said to her, why would you think I bought the chemicals for Leslie Pools. She stated that the service technicians wrote it on his report when he was last at my house. This is DISTURBING! The service techs are obviously poking around my property and reporting back to the Aquavita home office. I was really angry. I chose to buy and install the heater myself. I needed service on the unit and was reluctant to call Aquavita but they are within 1 mile of my house and I needed it done quick. The service tech came out and fixed the pool heater. I never had a chance to check that it worked properly because 1 was traveling for the next 3 weekends. When I did check the functionality of the heater, it was struggling to light. I called and got the same female again and I told her my situation. She stated that this is another service call and it would be $135 to come out. I told her that it has never worked right to begin with and this was unreasonable. I told her to send the service tech out and let's see what the issue is and then we can talk about the service fee. The tech came out and was in my yard for about 4 minutes, per my security video footage, and he left a tag that said the heater was fine. I got a bill for $135 which I did not authorize to pay. I then see it was just billed to my credit card without my authorization. I WILL NEVER USE THESE CLOWNS AGAIN. I would rather walk 10 miles and pay double to get a part from another vendor.
