Worst carpet experience ever. I will never again use, or recommend, Carpet Fair because the owner is unprofessional, changes his word, and is one of the worst examples of customer service I have experienced. We first went to Carpet Fair even though they were not the cheapest, but because I have always been committed to supporting local stores. Yes, they did install the carpets, but after they left, we found deep scratches on our walls (we had just had the house painted last year). But this is not the worst part. When Sam Spector, the owner, came to measure for carpets initially he told us about how he had gone to school to study carpets, etc. He then proceeded to measure the carpets and the closet doors and distinctly said, "I think you should be okay". He had measured the door and gap between them twice. I was clear that I did not want to pay for cutting closet doors, but his response was, "I think you should be fine". As soon as his guys came, they took off the closet doors and started ripping off the carpet. They said that there was no way that the closet doors could be put back on without us incurring a heavy charge to the closet doors. I immediately called Sam Spector, he came over, talked to his guys, and his words (when he left) were, "Don't worry. We can take care of it". He didn't. We were told that it would cost us to cut 8 sets of doors. Almost $500 that we didn't budget for, and so I called him. 1. When I called him, he said he was upset and hung up. I did not scream at him or raise my voice, but he still hung up. That is terrible customer service. 2. He explained that when he said, "It may be close", he meant that it was a 50-50 chance. I explained, via a football analogy, that close was being at the 1- or 5-yard line and not the 50-yeard line. 3. He made a comment that even if he did it for half the price (something he had never offered) - that I wouldn't come back to him. This gave me the clear impression that he was not interested in making things right for a customer, but only cared about future sales. 4. Finally, he offered to do it for $350 but by then I was so disgusted with his behavior that I would never let him or his employees ever enter my house. I will never give this man another dollar ever. I have lived in the world of customer experience strategy and execution longer than Sam has had a job. I know bad customer service, and this was clearly it. It was also obvious that this was not a business he built from the ground up. If he had, he would know good customer service. As he explained to me, it was just a business he inherited. Since then, we have had visitors who asked us about them getting new carpets. I shared my experience, and let's just say that Carpet Fair has lost more than they have bargained for. Beware of using Carpet Fair until you have everything this guy says in writing, and you have had a lawyer go through it. read more

6-29-24 Several months ago I decided to get carpeting for the second time through Costco Montgomeryville Pa. I figured the this would be a good experience since 4 yrs. ago I purchased this way with no problems. Well, needless to say this turned out to be a very unpleasant , disastrous experience. The " best crew" nicked walls, window sills, and door frames while moving furniture and chipped baseboard woodwork installing the carpet. All of the rooms to be carpeted were Professionally painted several weeks prior. Carpet Fair was contacted, pictures were taken, and an estimate for repairs from my Professional painter was obtained. I was then told that the repairs were only to be made by the painter Carpet Fair provided. I then contacted Costco Corporate and after many disagreed conversations, I had to use their painter. I was really "trapped"! The painter came an hour late, vehicle trouble, but did call "5 minutes before his scheduled time"! I provided the blue painters tape and even the hair dryer for drying the spackle. He was done in 2 hours, which included several trips to Home Depot and Lowes and included his lunch break. This guy and his helper were far from professional. After being a loyal customer of Costco from the day Montgomeryville opened, I was truly disappointed of this outcome. I will never recommend Carpet Fair or contract a vendor from Costco again. read more

Since I see that there are a few reviews about an individual who works here by the name of Mike. I wanted to share my experience with Michael Kind who works at Carpet Fair Inc., the individual that came to do the consultation for flooring installation. Originally I saw complimentary flooring consultation and installation through Costco and reached out to them, then Michael Kind reached out to schedule the appointment over New Years weekend. But he works for Carpet Fair Inc and not directly through Costco. Credit is due where credit is deserved, Michael did come on short notice and came to see the house on 1/2. The first thing he said to me was that he doesn't want to waste my time. I thought ok great, I am serious about ordering this flooring through Costco for the lifetime warranty- this shouldn't be a problem. He quoted me about 36k for luxury vinyl flooring for the entire house. It seemed a bit out of my budget so I wanted to consider carpeting for the second floor of the house instead. He said that he would need to come back to measure the second floor a different way since carpet is different from flooring in order to give me a quote. Since I'm from out of state, I set up a time with a friend in the area to let Mr. Kind into the house the following week. After the appointment, I did not hear back from Mr. Kind despite leaving voicemails. He never gave me a quote for the carpet flooring and never called me back. For a client who was serious about ordering and who believed Michael's words that he didn't want to waste my time- he sure wasted my time. If you're looking for a serious carpet installation company, go find it elsewhere. read more

When the Carpet Fair installation crew entered the house there was a pair of UGGS in the spare bedroom where they moved all the furniture. When they left there was only one UGG remaining. On calls to Carpet Fair I was told "I'll tell the owner but I don't think he'll be interested. He'll call you if he is." Of course he never called. Lenny did not show up at my home on the scheduled installation date. Lenny called later and said he was up late and would not arrive. Rescheduled installation 2 weeks later. On 2nd installation date another Mike and his helper said not enough material and left my home floor partially complete. Followed up with Carpet Fair and Joe said Friday's not a good day to call the store, Mike is not there. Joe said he would ask Lenny to call me and if Lenny doesn't then call Carpet Fair on Sunday and speak to Mike. Lenny does not call me. 2 months have gone by. Job not finished. I did a TON of research on what type of carpet I wanted and where to buy it. I ended up falling in love with a higher-end carpet and priced it out at a few places. Carpet Fair came in second-to-lowest with install. (The lowest was from a factory in Georgia). The first carpet that was shipped was damaged and the owner was very upfront and apologetic about it. They ended up getting next-day delivery for me at no charge and I was impressed by the installers' skills and cleanup. I'd definitely recommend them. read more

They came out to our house and measured our rooms free of charge. Once we pulled the trigger on a color and style I was able to call in and place the order over the phone. Buyer Beware of Installation!! The sales process was fine; however the installation was the install from hell!! If you purchase carpet from them and they send a couple of Mexicans to do the installation, be prepared for an all-day event even when the office people tell you it will be done in half a day. It started out on the wrong foot when the one that was lead wanted all of the furniture out of the living room and my office. His helper didn't speak English so that should have been an early warning. I had a doctor appointment and when I returned my wife was sitting outside on a lawn chair, as they crammed everything in the living and put it into the kitchen. We couldn't even get access to the refrigerator. All of my office furniture except my desk was put into our bedroom, blocking the entrance there also. I took plenty of pictures of both rooms, while listening to their radio of Spanish music and songs. I contacted the office and left a voice mail before leaving for my appointment and also left my cell phone number for them to call as the home phones were disconnected when they pulled the plug on the Xfinity modem that controls the internet and phone lines. I never received a call as I found out that the office didn't listen very well and called the house number instead of my cell phone. The install manager called the lead Mexican and he in turn talked to my wife telling her that he has done a lot of carpet installs. (yeah, right). For the next hour and a half my wife and I sat outside in lawn chairs in 91 degree temps waiting for them to finish, but after walking inside I find that they haven't even started putting the padding down. It was now 11:15 so since we can't get access to the refrigerator, I went on purchased our lunch which we ate outside. Around 11:40, the one non English speaking Mexican went to their van and pulled out their lunch container. They finished their lunch at 12:30, 45 minutes for lunch in air conditioned house while we had to sit outside in the heat. Around 1:30 I checked on the status and still no progress, so once again I called the office complaining about the install and that they should send over a couple more installers as the ones that are here will not be done before 5 p.m. I was told the install manager would be onsite soon. Jimmy arrived at 2:30 and after checking with the installers I was told that they would be done in an hour. At 3:30 I went back inside for a bathroom break and they were nowhere near being done. After coming back outside I found Jimmy leaning against our front wall talking on the phone. Apparently with a couple of other installers as they arrived around 4:00 p.m. One worked on my office as that was never touched, and the other installer was finishing off the stairs as that job took about 5 hours for that portion of the install. In about 20 minutes they were both asking where the furniture went while the lead Mexican was still working on the carpet install in the hallway closet. After the furniture was moved into place all I kept hearing from the install manager was I'm sorry.... I'm sorry... I was wrong. Everyone was finally out of our home by 4:45 p.m., an install that took 8 1/2 hours. Needless to say we started putting back the china, etc., along with all of our electronic equipment. This day was definitely the day from hell. Carpet Fair will never get recommended by us. On Sunday, 8/25 my wife mentioned that she can't use the telephone in the living room. Something we should have checked before they left but since I had disconnected the phone from the wall plug, we never figured it wouldn't get damaged. Boy was I wrong. After multiple tests, I found that the installers had cut the line when putting in the carpet. A very clean slice. Carpet Fair was contacted on Monday, and once again the Manager is tied up with a customer and the owner is not onsite. The person I talked with was ignorant in stating that is why we have the customer disconnect the electronics. I guess I didn't explain it enough for him to understand that it's the wire that runs up from the crawl space and along the wall. This was around 12:30 when I called and was told someone would contact me. We finally got the phone call at 6:30 Monday evening and that someone will be onsite in a couple of days to repair the issue. We have been in this home for 33 years and this was the 3rd time we have replaced the carpets. Never, never have we been inconvenienced with having furniture blocking our kitchen and bedroom the way these 2 Mexicans wanted it. I was told by the install manager that everyone has their own way of doing things. I think it's time for Carpet Fair to re-evaluate how their people do things. If you dare purchase carpeting from Carpet Fair and they send 2 Mexicans to do the install, don't do it. You're only asking for install from hell!!!! read more

At carpet fair, The staff are helpful, great variety and competitive prices. They have a nice selection of vinyl flooring too (Cortec). They were able to educate me about the special flooring. I ordered carpet and office said it would take longer than usually from thanksgiving holiday and they would call me when carpet comes in. They said it would take about a week. Week went by and I get few more days. I called and a sales guy couldn't find paperwork. I was told they would call me the next day and I never received a call. Carpet Fair was the best carpet company I went to. There sales people were friendly and helped on every step towards choosing the perfect carpet for our home. They even went so far to give us samples that we could take home to check against our current and future paint selection which we had not yet purchase. We came back to the store and selected our carpet. They were ready to install the carpet the minute it came in. However, we had to finish painting our house before carpet installation. Carpet Fair was very accommodating and waited until we were ready. When I called, they had a team ready to install the carpet within two days. We were carpeting our complete house which included 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room, halls, closets and stairways. The crew came early in the morning and completed the job before 5pm. Carpet Fairs installation crew were the greatest. They knew what they were doing and work really hard. The work was top quality and kept the areas that they worked clean and picked up. When all was said and done, you saw no signs that installers had been just working in the house. They left the house spotless and had all the furniture in its original place as if nothing had been done to move it. As for price, I compared the price to other carpet companies like Empire and Airport Carpet.
