I took my mower in to get fixed and an a few days later I took another mower in they were takin parts of mine an putting them on another.then when it came to pay a week later.i confronted them they said that wasn't true that they put new parts on.then they started using racial slur to me in front of my kids. read more

Brought weed whip in for repair that myself and they knew. Just had to order part. Had for 9 weeks (9 weeks!!). Mind you this is Post Pandemic and said couldn't get part in. Took on the task of fixing up my old mower rather than tossing it and buying a new one. Rebuilt the carburetor, replaced the intake manifold tube, replaced the breather, and replaced the air filter. The staff at A1 helped me the whole way and were willing to answer any questions I had. These guys are the real deal and made my first round of mower repairs fairly painless! read more

Beware - Go somewhere else. - you've been warned Brought chainsaw in. It was running but would not idle. When I got it back, it would not start or run. Brought it back. He rebuilt the carb - now it runs. Second chain saw - It would run but erratic, After 3 weeks I picked it up because he gave up on repairing it. Now it won't start or run. I had a saw now I have a boat anchor. One out of 2 is not good. Poor service, They never call. Dirty facility. read more

This place is awful. I took a back pack blower in 4 weeks ago. They said it needed a new grommet for the gas tank. They said they would order one call when it was fixed. 4 weeks later I stopped in and they said that the part had not come in yet. I took the blower from them and went home. I searched Amazon and found the part in 2 minutes. The staff was not helpful in any way. Would never recommend them to anyone. read more

Dropped my snowblower off on a Thursday was told it would be ready 2-3 days. Initially friendly and courteous. I also left with the agreement that I would get a call if the work went over $50. Tuesday the next week I called to check in. Guy on phone couldn't find my ticket so assumed my engine was being worked on and would be done quickly. Got a call Wednesday late afternoon that it was done I could get it before 6. Showed up Thursday morning to find out they don't except Credit which was never disclosed so I had to make a second trip. The total was also $75 which no one ever called to approve with me. Snow Blower started without hitch but Poor customer service. Probably spend my money elsewhere. read more

Bad experience with a lawn mower. Lasted 1 day past the 30 day warranty and died. Was a sturdy lawnmower at first glance but had really been hacked together. Good to see that others are reporting this sort of bad business practice. If you are a repair shop. Stand by your work. Or simply find another line of work. Will not go here again. read more

BEWARE!!!!!!!! I brought my John Deere 1032 snow blower in to have it fixed in November because it was running rough and stalling at the end of the year in 2011. I started it up on the first snow and it still runs rough and stalled three times, basically no different then when I brought it in and I paid them $140.00 and they did nothing. I called and spoke to a "lady" and she just wants to charge me more money to look at it again. This is a very large and heavy snow blower and it's not easy getting it there so now she wants to charge me for pick up and delivery. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WILL NEVER EVER GO HERE AGAIN. I'd rather pay someone else to look at it than bring it here again. This used to be a good place for small engine repair, not anymore. This place is awful. They are conveniently located and as someone new to Grand Rapids I found it difficult to locate other businesses that did what the do. I got a fairy old riding mower with the house I purchased last year but didn't move into until after grass mowing season was done. After I paid them $50 to puck it up It took them 2 months to get back to me. Then in late December they brought it back to me. It started but then I didn't need it until recently when it wouldn't start. They came again and picked it up, for another $50 charge and took it back only to tell me it didn't have gas in it. One would think they would have put enough gas in it before returning it to me or at least suggested it as the problem when I called to tell them it wouldn't start. So they picked it up and held it for another 3 weeks and never contacted me. In all, I paid them over $400. They are terrible business people. read more

Beware of this shop!! Wife took in lawnmower. First they left it outside during a 4 inch rainstorm. Then when she showed up (and got a bill for $80) she said start it for me They tried did not run well Come back in 30 minutes, still did not sound good. Took it home, not running at all. Went back and asked for a refund. They said the gas was bad (it was their gas.) First thing they said was "small claims court is about 3 miles that way". Then the manager (Linda) and worker called my wife stupid (because we took it to another shop), pushed me physically (while I was leaving)out of their business and threatened me with violence if I returned. I stopped payment on the check. I hope they can find small claims court, because they will have to go there to get paid. read more

Called the night before for a flywheel guy told me $40. Ok no big deal. Called the next day to make sure they had one in stock he said he did and told me $30. I said ok I'll be there with in the hour and I got it and another guy who cashed me out said that would be $35 and I said well I called 2 times and now I'm here and I got 3 different prices with in a 24 hr period. Guy was nice enough to let me have it for $30 out the door. They should get there prices right. read more

MONEY HUNGRY I brought in my tractor in to replace a belt . they instructed me it was my pulley while there i decided to have a oil change,blades sharpens, and pulley replaced . When i came back i was charged 75 dollars and brought it home. when i went to start it the belt came off and upon further inspection i realized that he never changed my oil or sharped my blades. it also still had original pulley that was to be replaced on it . When i called to see why he basically told me i was screwed. I also found out my cousin had had similar issues. awful place awful people i recommend to no one. I have brought my lawnmower, snowblower and rototiller in at different times to this shop. They were very reasonably priced and did a great job overall. Everyone there has been very friendly and helpful. Only concern I've had was the length of time (3 weeks) it took to replace the drive cable on my mower (part was out of stock) last summer. I just got some free phone advice on how to fix my snowblower's stuck key this week. This is a west side neighborhood shop and I am really happy to support them. read more

In Dec of 2011 we took an older Toro 724 snow blower that was running rough. A1 discussed the likely causes and offered a rough estimate. The final repair was a bit more because of a wheel bearing that needed replacement but I can say the snow blower ran perfectly this winter. Granted it was a light winter but considering it was not used every day that's even more reason to be happy with the work. Older snow blowers can be tempermental ... I've owned several. I would not hesitate to take more small engine repairs to these folks read more
