I asked what the charge would be for them to come out .I was…read morequoted 159.00 I said OK. when the technician came out he said the problem wasn't the Machine but the drain and I should call a plumber which was fine. Time to paid the bill and he quoted me over 200.00. I told the technician that I was quoted 159.00. He said because it was a front loader it was 189.00 plus tax. I feel that I was taken advantage of because I am a women and a senior citizen. I will never call or do business with Marc's appliances again. I don't like being cheated.

My experience was classic bait and switch. Ordered a 48" range online at an excellent (but not…read moreunique) price, website claimed it was in stock and that I would need to pick it up at their West Hartford warehouse. Got a confirmation E-mail stating order would be "processed once payment was confirmed" (odd, since CC payments are generally automated these days). Next day, I got what appeared to be an automated E-mail (no name or phone number, DoNotReply sender) stating that their "policy" was that I would need to come to their store in person to confirm identity & credit card, and that the item was a special order (not in stock after all, I guess!). Since it's a 4-hour drive each way, going there twice defeats the purpose of an online order... When I called to try to clear things up, "Jack" told me the item was not in stock and that there appeared to be a pricing error (more alarm bells start up in my head). After consulting with his manager, he did call me back, to tell me that the part number is not on the Kitchenaid site, so they can't even order it, and they don't have it in stock. I just went back on their site, and they still list that exact part number listed (KFID948SJP), but at a much, much higher price, of course. When I expressed my displeasure and asked to speak to a manger, it went to voice mail. The only excuse offered was "the website is pretty automated". I get that mistakes happen, but reputable stores make some effort to make it right with the customer. A retail store is responsible for their advertised pricing.

The service at this place has been dramatically worse over the last ten years. My family came to…read morelearn that the folks running this place experienced a rather tragic death and my heart went out to them. Flashforward a couple of years later... These people have written down on our invoices: "This family is nuts, do not sell to them, they leave bad reviews on yelp." Here is a very bad review. There is absolutely no excuse, regardless of tragedy, for writing a note about a customer like that and then, sending them a copy of the note attached to a service order. Yup.. You heard write... They sold to us, and then sent us a note attached to the receipt saying we are crazy A**holes. This company is repugnant and run by children. What kind of company releases their private notes about customers publicly? There is absolutely no excuse. Go to Lowes. It is cheaper and the people working there will not insult you.

This was a great Portland institution. They were so good that they continued to service appliances…read morepurchased by the former owners of the house with no fuss. Today, the place is such a travesty it borders on fraud. 4 years ago we purchased their top of the line kitchen aid induction oven on their recommendation. It has worked strangely from the beginning, turning off for seemingly no reason at times. Then last weekend, the stove top stopped working altogether. This stove top has a glass top sealed over a circuit board. Nevertheless, Portland electric claims there must have been a gallon or more spilled because ... and this is key... they have never seen this happen before. The repair is over 1000$, 65% the cost of a new oven that is electric. They talked us into buying induction and are now saying that a 1000 repair required in year 4 of its life is our fault. So the extra money you pay for appliances here now gets you worse service than the discounted big box stores. The individuals are also quite rude. If you are a woman, expect the folks at Portland Electric to talk over you when you call and essentially ignore you. This store is not going to stay opened much longer. The people who work there have literally said they do not care about losing us as customers point blank. That is who you are dealing with.
