We've stopped in here a couple of times in the past couple of months and have found the food, drink and service to be consistently return worthy. We usually sit at the bar here if there is space and find the patrons and staff to be friendly. Our most recent stop we ordered a burger which has a nice char-grilled flavor with a choice of cheese (3 options). Fresh lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle on the side. Ask for ketchup or mustard if you want that. Cooked to order, soft bun held together well. I usually get a side salad (for a bit of an upcharge) or the fries and both are good. If it's a side Caesar salad, I ask for it to be 'lightly dressed', which they do. Yay! Booth seating or bar. Bathrooms are tucked way in the back corner. There is plenty of parking next to and behind the building with a few handicapped spots near the entrance walkway. Close to the highway. read more

This is my first time at the nines and it was absolutely killer! The service here was very good and the food all tasted fresh! The ambience is really cool local restaurant and pub vibes. We had tried some winter and December specials, as well as a couple of other things in our second visit, January. This included the lobster flatbread, the steak and cheese flatbread, the buffalo chicken dip, the spinach and artichoke dip, the prime rib, the steak and potatoes, and the chicken fajita southwest bowls! Ordered the corned beef dinner tonight for St Patty's Day for take out. Good portion of corned beef, tasty but a little tough; carrots, turnip and potatoes diced and a heaping portion of mashed potatoes instead of cabbage. How can they not add cabbage?! Very disappointed. read more

They literally took 2 slices of tiny thin white bread put a small slice of cheese on each, put each slice cheese up in toaster oven or broiler, BURNT the cheese, slapped it together. Ordered delivery from hotel down the road while in town for the night. Food came cold and soggy ... expect that somewhat from delivery. But the burger looked as if someone clawed it with their bare hand. Not edible. No utensils or condiments served with any of our meals. Which was interesting when it came to the loaded mashed potatoes my Fiance had. We called to let the Manager know, but passed on their offer to remake food. Customer service was amazing when they fielded the call. Worth a mention. I can only hope they re-train the burger chef and ensure all deliveries have utensils/condiments. This is not a hidden gem type of review so calm down people. It's a favorite local chain. I've always enjoy 99 but maybe because I haven't been in a few weeks. Today's lunch options were delicious, unsure of why but omg was everything so fresh. For starters you must ask for Rachael F as your server. She was amazing with my toddler so definitely a plus if you're a mom. She made the food experience fun, exciting and WELCOMING! Her happy attitude was contagious you can't be grumpy when someone is so genuinely happy. Okay the food. As a started my absolute favorite their cauliflower with spicy dip ! Para chaparse los dedos. Can't get enough. Mango and regular marmitas delicious !! Had 3 Their all start burger to die for and as a side coleslaw is on point. The stuffing on their baked stuffed shrimp is so tasty and delicious it's an explosion of flavors. I've gone to this chain so so many times but today the food the drink the restaurant ambiance was incredible. Side note for mommies and the toddler that loves the bathroom trips. THE BATHROOM ARE SPARKLING CLEAN AND SMELL SO PLEASANTLY. So last night was the 99's turn for us to get takeout. We ordered through their website and delivery was through Doordash. I got the southwest steak and rice bowl. It was good, just not much to it. Maybe 2 oz of steak, and then maybe 4 oz of rice. Guac container was 1/4 full. Hubs got chicken mac and cheese. She said it was just ok , nothing special. ALso his portion was small as well. Ate here Monday lunchtime. Place was very busy. Had shrimp & rice, rice was luke warm but slightly hard. That night, major stomach pain & I went down with food poisoning, still sick 2 days later. The only thing I had eaten prior that day was my usual oatmeal. Uncooked rice can have spores of Bacillus cereus, which is a bacterium that can cause food poisoning. These spores can survive even when the rice is cooked, and if the rice is left out at room temperature, the spores can grow into bacteria and multiply. This place has gone downhill, looked dirty, feet stick to the carpet as you walk in. Never again! Had to give 1 star just to be able to post a review! read more

What has happened to this Restaurant chain? Years ago, when it was Family owned, it was a great eatery! Remember the complimentary little tub of Cheddar Cheese and Wheat Crackers back a couple of decades ago? I can understand why they did away with that...people were making a meal out of this freebie, but it brought people into the Restaurant, unfortunately Corporate took over and ended that! When we used to go to the Nines we always got the Buffalo Tenders, which were alway freshly made to order pieces of plump chicken, not anymore, now they're reheated pieces of chicken that have probably sat in a container for a while? They were dry and overcooked! Not like we remember them! I ordered a Classic Burger and the waitress Sarah asked how I wanted it cooked and I replied "Medium" it came to the table "Well Done" but I can see why, the burger patty is about 3/8's of an inch thick, so it would be hard to grill it to a requested doneness in a busy kitchen, so I cut them some slack. It just wasn't an enjoyable burger and not like the 99 Burgers of the past. A Quarter Pounder at Micky D's would've been more enjoyable! My son had the prime rib special and said it was ok but would not order it again as the spices were overwhelmingly. My daughter in law's soup was good. Came here after a day at Canobie lake park and the food was very meh! My chicken on the kabob salad was very black and tasted it, see pic. It was just not a very impressive salad for $12. Our family had similar experiences, the prime rib was cold and the sirloin steak had no seasoning and over cooked. Just tasted meh, nothing tasty. Our server was excellent though for a party of 6 but I came for good food too and we were all disappointed with it. I do like sitting at the bar though, can't go wrong with a beer or wine and their complementary cheese and crackers or popcorn. read more

November 28th I ordered gift cards on line which came with 2 bonus $5 cards per each $50.00 spent. Gift cards have shown up- no bonus cards. I called last week and was told a "ticket" was created. I would get an email verifying and then could refer to that ticket number. 5 days later no email, no ticket, no bonus cards . When I called she asked for my ticket number ! I told the rep I had not received one and asked to have my bonus cards sent ,again. She said she is making a ticket again and I needed to wait 48 hours to get the email. I think this is ridiculous. They have my receipt of payment. I just want my bonus cards- urgggghhh! I am working just like every one else . Just want what I paid for. Anyone else having trouble with the 99 gift card system? Stopped here on my way through town. Omg this lobster roll was delicious. They actually had three different lobster rolls on the menu (gotta love New England!), and I ordered the untoasted one. Worth the trip just for these. Crunchy, soft insides with cheese and bacon. The best. Had gold fever wings with skins. Sweet Mustard bbq sauce. Wife loved them, I rather have the buffalo ones, but they were pretty good. Finished with all star burger. It was good, fries and coleslaw were very good. So good meal other than onion soup. Tonight I was contacted by the general manager who was very appoligetic. I informed him that I can understand that the wrong meal ends up in the order from time to time, what I was most upset about was how my wife was ignored and treated as if she was imposing. He agreed with me and credited the entire bill back to my debit card. he did also admit that they do turn off online ordering and phones from time to time because of the rush of orders that comes in at once being too much to handle. He explained that he is still trying to rebuilt the stores staffing from the pandemic and he hopes to have it back up to snuff but it has been a struggle. It's apparent that he cares for the business which I can admire so I thanked him for his efforts. I still believe that it is grossly overpriced now especially the steaks ( $37 for king smothered steak tips....ouch). read more

Raw, Fatty, Disgusting, Inedible "Prime" Rib that should never have left the kitchen. The first attempt was still quivering and mooing when it was delivered to the table. The waitress led it back to the kitchen with a specific request to replace it with a new cut and not reheat the sorry beast. After about 15 minutes (I had finished my meal at this point), the Manager came over to apologize and inform Mrs. StoneOLD that the replacement "Prime" Rib would be out shortly because he had just seen it coming out of the oven?!? Hmmm... that sounds like reheating. He assured us that he would come back to check on the results. He also offered free dessert. DESSERT? I felt ill just watching what was left of that poor cow suffering on a plate. Finally, the new "Prime" Rib arrived for inspection. Somehow, it was even more disgusting than the first one. Still raw, quivering and mooing but now enveloped in the unappealing color that only reheated beef can offer. The waitress was clearly embarrassed to serve this inedible mess and convinced the Manager to remove it from the bill. The Manager never did come back. Sure, we didn't need to pay for that sickening mess BUT; there was never an offer to replace it with something that can be consumed by humans. Raw, inedible beef and a free dessert offer do not make a meal. We will be avoiding the 99 in Salem, NH in the foreseeable future. read more

Sad to say I received food poisoning a frw weeks ago...I had the wedge salad and French onion soup. I took the soup home because I was full. I had it the next day and even though it looked like sink water and tasted STRONG. i thought it was normal sink it was onion soup. I ate it with crackers and it was okay. 30 minutes after, I was standing up and got dizzy and had to lay down. I had cold sweats, I was nauseous and so tired I had to throw up. I wasn't going to leave a review, but it's been weeks and my stomach has not been the same and Tums has been a weekly thing for me whem ive never had tums before this. My wife and i eat at this 99 regularly. Food is always good and a good value for the price. Their "rewards" program is a joke. You check in on your phone, get a code number, give it to your waiter, who is supposed to enter it into the system to give you credit for the visit. We just got done eating there and my meal was horrible, we go out 2-3 times a week for dinner and decided to go there on the way to see a show at the high school. We hadn't been there in years and now I know why. I had the country fried chicken. The meat portion of chicken was no thicket than 1/4" and overcooked like cardboard, the potatoes just didn't taste like mashed potatoes and I wasn't offered butter for my biscuit. My friend and I ordered on line, with the option to pick up the food, which we did. When we arrived, the greeter outside informed us he could not find the order, and went back and forth inside. Long story short we wound up giving him the order of what we ordered online. Not only did they get the order incorrect, the food was HORRIBLE!! I mean, I specifically said a garden salad, no croutons. They gave me what seemed like just a bunch of lettuce, parmesan cheese and croutons! I wanted a garden salad. I ordered steaktips medium rare. They might have been medium rare from what I could see, but the quality and temperature was unacceptable. Yep, everything was cold! I feel bad for my friend because she has a medical condition and has to eat. I can attest - her burger was RAW. Served whole berry cranberry sauce with the meal. Also new to the menu were ribs. These seemed undercooked. Meat did not fall off the bone and were chewy. Will not be back any time soon. read more
