The Boston Red Sox told me to visit this place. They are all about the patriots and the Red Sox, I wish I would've taken my Yankee hat. Lol The food was very good and the dark ambiance was nice. The waitress was amazing. The bar area was pack with 1/2 beer specials.

Typical restaurant chain food, has its place. Waitstaff was quick and efficient. Been here twice since it opened. Which is twice as many times that Ive been to the nearest Chili's, which I find I get myself confused with. I have gotten the boneless gold sauce chicken chunks for takeout a few times. Those are pretty good. But yah. . .its a 99, so its never gonna be a hundred.

Pleasantly surprised on this visit! It was sufficiently busy yet we (a party of three) were seated right away and received good service. Hubby and son got southwest and Mediterranean bowls with a couple modifications and received exactly what they wanted. I ordered the Vermont cheddar burger and it was delicious. I don't usually order burgers but I would order this again.

I just flew in from Texas and had nothing to eat for over 14 hours. My friends took me to 99 because I was told they had awesome burgers. We sat at the bar where I ordered a bleak bean burger with pico de gallo with lots of guacamole. I want to say it was an awesome burger which was made even better with Danielle the great bartender. I can't wait to my next visit!!!

99 is one of my go to spots in the area. Even though it's a chain restaurant, I am never disappointed with the food. I've tried all kinds of stuff - burgers, wraps, wings, and they're always delicious. This time I went with the steak tips, which were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. My guest got a burger, which she was very happy with. I also got the $5 Jose Cuervo margarita. I used to love coming for happy hour for discounted beers and $5 apps, but they recently changed the hours from 3-6 to 3-5 so unfortunately I can't make it anymore. The service is usually pretty decent, it can get a bit slow but nothing too bad. They have a huge bar which is fun to sit around. Probably my favorite chain in the area!

For service I would give them a 5; for food choices and seasoning I would give a 3. The choices didn't appeal to me in the appetizer area so we got tempura cauliflower with sriracha sauce but it wasn't seasoned enough for my liking - everyone is different. Will definitely go back and just order something more basic like a burger

Very small portion for the overall price, not bad but not great

This is the fourth entry for my summer 2022 CT Lobster Roll review. I visited 9 locations, 6 in the greater Hartford/central CT area so each has two rankings. This rating is also for the overall restaurant and the poor experiences there I've had over the years. The lobster roll is actually pretty good, they lose a little because you have to get it as a combo and it is on the pricier side. It comes with a nice 6" brioche NE style roll with a generous amount of lobster meat in a bowl (average around 4 1/2 oz of meat on an approx 2 oz roll). Though the meat is warm and moist it doesn't seem like whatever it's in is butter. That takes it down another notch because a hot buttered (CT) lobster roll is - buttered. The sides are decent, nothing special but more often than not by the time you get your food it is cold. At least half the visits I've made here for curbside pickup I've had to get out of my car and go into the restaurant to track someone down after waiting in my car for 10-15 minutes. With nobody at the entrance my food is usually sitting in a bag in a cubby by the door. The restaurant is almost never busy and every time I will see employees hanging out in back by the kitchen talking to each other or doing anything else but working. If it's not that it's forgetting utensils (they claim you have to request those but I've gotten soup from there that ALWAYS comes with a spoon, they also don't make that obvious in the ordering process and management seems tone-deaf about it. They've called to let me know that items I ordered online were not available but still left me waiting when I got there for "curbside" pickup. So as far as the lobster roll goes, 99 comes in at #5 of 6 for the Hartford area rolls and #7 of 9 for all of them. It's actually a decent roll and a good size if you can get over all the service issues. If it were not for the roll these guys would be 1-1 1/2 stars at best but I can't bring myself to get them much further above a 2 star rating unless they make some effort to provide better service.

    The perfect Pistachio Martini

We went today for Happy Hour and were surprised to see new bartenders. We have been going there for the last 35 years and will absolutely miss Danielle. We didn't get the name of the bartender who first served us but we loved her and thought she was very friendly and personable. At 4:00 another bartender Melissa came on and I ordered another Pistachio Martini. The drink was made completely different and didn't even taste the same. I brought it to her attention and showed her the picture I took of my first drink from the other bar tender (I had taken the picture to send to my niece to show her that 99 was now serving Pistachio Martinis our favorite drink). She claims she has been there for 16 years which surprised us because we have been going there for 35 which she didn't know and we have never seen her. I even asked her since we have never seen her before, so have you worked more in the dining area and she claimed no she has been in the bar area for 16 years. Okay on to my Pistachio Martini she Said that She made the drink the way it is supposed to be made according to how the establishment wants it to be made and "she" the other bartender obviously added more liquor to the drink which was wrong and that is WHY establishments like 99 are going under and losing money. Are you kidding me Melissa shame on you for BASHING your coworker when obviously you didn't know how to make the drink. I certainly hope customers as well as your coworkers will read this review to know that you don't know how to make a drink and that you don't have your coworkers backs.

    Complimentary kitchen tour!

I really wanted to take my lady piece out for a well balanced, classic New England, low priced, and eco friendly lunch. The 99 in Glastonbury did not disappoint! Our server Mike did an amazing job in ensuring me and my lady thing were satisfied! Also, the Manager Chris was great! I told him how my dream was to be a line cook but my arthritis prevents me from utilizing tongs when used repeatedly. Well after having that discussion with him, Chris made my dream come true! He gave me an OFFICIAL 99 restaurants uniform, gave me a tour of the kitchen, and even allowed me to plate up a wing and skin! I am beyond grateful for this experience and I will forever be grateful for both Mike and manager Chris! Btw, their kahuna salad was DELIGHTFUL! The 99 just became 100 in my book! Bravo Chris! Keep on boot skoot boogying!

One itty bitty piece of fish in each taco and stale chewy shells. This is the second location we have visited and the first one was amazing. This spot though not so much.

"She is dearer by far Than the world's brightest star,…read moreAnd I call her my wild Irish Rose" (The Mills Brothers) How many local bands do you follow? We follow three -Jake Kulak and the Modern Vandals, Suburban Escape Plan, and Intergalactic Kegger, and have seen all three at least half a dozen times. So, when we learned that Intergalactic Kegger was playing at the Irish American Home Society, we made plans to join a bunch of friends there. You need to be a member, or know a member to get in, and there is a checkpoint at the door where you are asked about membership status. We aren't members, but we know one of the guys in the band and his wife are, so we signed in as their guests and paid the $5 non-member cover charge. I could not believe how PACKED the downstairs bar area was. Yes, it was a Friday night, but it was only 6:15 or so, but it was so crowded it was hard to walk through the throng and even more difficult to find a few open tables. Once we settled down and claimed a space to sit, we walked over to the bar and, of course, had to order a cold perfectly poured Guiness. The bartender was a pro and poured it in two stages to minimize the foam and fill the glass with as many milliliters of that great Irish Stout as humanly possible. The ambience in the downstairs space was fantastic. We saw families with children, a young couple playing darts, and hundreds of fun-loving people of all ages dancing and having a grand old time. We interacted with a few customers when it came time to move around a few tables and chairs, and everyone was as friendly and cooperative as could be. There was food service last night, provided by Glastonbury's Tenth Hole Tavern. To order, we walked over to a counter to the right of the bar, and chose among a cup of chili, order of wings, shrimp tacos, a hot dog, and three sandwiches. Payment can be made by cash or Venmo. We ordered Shrimp Tacos ($16), a Pulled Pork Sandwich ($15), and a basket of fries ($7). My tacos were great- three big ones with a sweet chili panko crust, shredded cabbage, and pico on flour tortillas. I've had skimpier portions in a lot of restaurants for the same price. And yes, they sure paired well with that cold smooth Guiness. The sound system was great, and at a reasonable volume so we could enjoy the music and still have conversations at our table. What a fun experience!

I'm back! I love this place! It's quiet here ) it's only a Tuesday) but we're late (arrived at 9:15…read morePM). There is no shortage of decor here! I like the huge carafe of ice water and the spicy potato chips! For my first drink, I'm having a Negroni. A negroni is an Italian cocktail, made of equal parts gin, vermouth rosso (red, semi-sweet), and Campari, generally served with ice, and commonly garnished with an orange slice or orange peel. It is considered an apéritif. They also have an Obi Wan Negroni made with Cold Brew Infused Campari instead. For my first food item, I'm having the Cream of Mushroom soup with chicken. Cream of mushroom soup is a simple type of soup where a basic roux is thinned with creamor milk and then mushrooms or mushroom brothare added. This is delicious! It's nice and hot with a lot of shredded chicken. For my entree, I'm having the Brussels Sprout Salad made with shaved Brussels sprouts, spring mix, bacon, pomegranate drizzle, silvered almonds, shaved Parmesan and lemon vinaigrette dressing. Look at the height of this! This tastes great! I am also having a side of mushy peas. Mushy peas are a traditional British side dish of marrowfat peas that are cooked until soft and mashed into a mush. The dish is especially popular in Northern England and the Midlands, and often eaten with fish and chips or served as part of "pie and peas". Here's a quick overview of mushy peas: Ingredients** Traditionally made with dried marrowfat peas, but can be substituted with frozen peas or green split peas. I love this! It's nice and hot.,What a rare treat! This is hard to find anywhere! I'm also having a side of cold slaw. Coleslaw, or "slaw" in North America, is a side dish of shredded cabbage with a vinaigrette or mayo-based dressing. The word "coleslaw" comes from the Dutch term koolsla, meaning "cabbage salad". Recipes vary by region and can include additional ingredients like carrots, apples, raisins, or celery. Coleslaw originated in the Netherlands in the 18th century, but references to similar cabbage salads appear in ancient Greek and Roman medical texts. This is the best! Nice, thick dressing! For my last drink, I'm having a Godfather. The Godfather is a sweet and strong cocktail that blends Scotch whisky and amaretto liqueur. It's typically served in an old-fashioned glass over ice and can be garnished with an orange twist. The drink became popular in the 1970s disco scene and is named after the 1972 film starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. Some say bartender Joe Scialom created the Godfather to capture the movie's spirit. This is done just right! Good job! What a great meal here!

Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right downtown Manchester on Main Street is this gem where Lucky Taco once stood. It echoes the standard British pubs and taverns from across the pond with deep yellow lighting, woods, exposed brick walls and open floorplan kind of vibe. It was lively, energetic and welcoming! Service: Lara took excellent care of us and she was very helpful! I had no issues at all. Food/Drinks: On the table when we arrived was an Irn Bru which is a SUPER popular drink sold in Scotland, often beating Coca-Cola in sales. It tasted like orange licorice, but it was actually pretty decent. Our first appetizer was an order of Crisps which were like thick cut potato chips with some garlic parmesan seasonings which I actually enjoyed! There was plenty of flavor from each component involved. Next up was the 007 which was their spin on the martini James Bond orders! In it is Wheatley Vodka, Bombay Gin, and English Tea Infused Lillet Blanc. It tasted like a dirty martini and was pretty strong! Smooth as well. I enjoyed it. Next up was a dish called Toad In The Hole which is Yorkshire pudding stuffed with smoked sausage then topped with caramelized onions and gravy. I have never seen anything like this before, but it was so strange, but pretty decent! The Yorkshire pudding was a bit eggy and dense. The gravy was a must though, since the other components of the dish lacked the salt that I was seeking. Next up was the Cloth Of Gold Old which is an Old Fashion with a twist which contained Old Forester, fresh lemon and honey. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure why the mention of Old Fashion was on the menu unless this is supposed to differ from an "Old Fashioned". No matter, moving on. Next up were the Potato Pom Pom which are fired potato balls served with a house-made cheddar cheese sauce. It sounds like a simple dish. The cheese was thick, majorly cheddar-y. I really, really liked these! They tasted like a fancy tater tot. The potato inside was so soft and tender and the exterior was so crispy. My last drink of the night was the Bramble On Rose which is their take on a 1980's classic created in Soho, London. In it is Bombay Gin, fresh lemon, rose water and blackberry syrup. This was my favorite drink of the night. It was fresh, had some herbal flavors and the rose flavor made itself known. I really, really liked this drink and would certainly order it again. Lastly, the quintessential Fish & Chips! It's Atlantic cod in a brown ale batter, served with musky peas, chips, tartar sauce and a curry sauce. The curry sauce was surprisingly fantastic. I was blown away and absolutely needed more of it. The mushy peas resembled guacamole, but I had no idea how I was supposed to eat them. Lol. Were they a sauce? I don't know, but they tasted exactly how you'd think they'd taste. The fish was also fantastic. It was light, yet greasy and crispy. Value: The most expensive thing on the menu is $22.00. This place is not expensive at all so you certainly won't break the bank. Portions are decent size too. In conclusion, I absolutely enjoyed myself here and highly recommend you (reading this) to check it out! British food is... unpredictable if I must throw a word on it. Lol. Like, I almost couldn't predict what some of this stuff would taste like because I had never had anything like it before! Now, I'm a believer!

They used to have "simply prepared" on the menu that was just the fish, with seasonings and complementary sides. That's gone from the menu. It was always perfectly prepared and complimentary to whatever fish you were having. Last night, that changed for me. I have noticed over my last few visits a change in the restaurant. At first, I thought it was just my tastes changing, but last night proved me wrong. I had the "North Atlantic Swordfish Saltimbooca". The description was "Proccuitto, mozzaella cheese, sage mascarpone, white polenta". Polenta is usually soft, with the fish on top. This was polenta soup, with the fish literally swimming in it. In addition, it was greasy. There was a lot of oil around the side. And on top of that, the mozzarella formed a rather nasty hard cheese coating on the fish that I removed to the side with my fork. It was one of the most unappetizing things I've had in a long time. The swordfish was completely lost; no flavor at all. After a few bites, I gave up on it. I also noticed that drinks have gotten smaller. I ordered a martini. It used to be quite generous (it is a $16 drink after all). The glass last night was much smaller, at the same price. The wine was good, but that was about it. VERY DISAPPOINTING. I should have gone with the Fish and Chips! Hard to mess that up.
