This place is the BOMB!…read more I've lived in Southern Maine for over 30 years, and while I have heard ALL about Dysarts, I haven't made the trek before now. It took a concert at the Maine Savings Amphitheater to get me to head north, and I am SO glad I did! We got a booth pretty quickly, and even though we were both recommended (several) times to go with the breakfast menu, we ended up ordering one hot open-face turkey sandwich and a pot roast dinner. The turkey sandwich was fantastic, plentiful, and smothered in gravy. I also requested extra cranberry sauce (always), which was perfect. The pot roast dinner started with the most excellent dinner rolls, fresh and warm, then moved to a giant portion of pot roast with gravy, real mashed potatoes, and a side of peas (also perfect). We would have stayed longer and ordered more, but it was time to go, and we were stuffed. Next time.

Always a consistent experience for us. Fast and friendly…read moreservice. You feel like a local when you eat here. It's a clean family style setting - wooden chairs and tables. Great for larger and smaller groups. It was fun to see kids here before their prom/dance. It's really for everyone here. We ALWAYS order breakfast here - it's consistently great! I love their pancakes and their hash. Before we leave, we always get a few things to-go. The most recent trip we were lucky enough to snag their famous dinner rolls. So good for the holidays...or in our case...Sunday LOL We are a fan of their cookies as well. The pumpkin chip ones are our favorites. If you don't see something, you can ask, as they might have more in the back. Always a great time when we are up North a few times a year.

I read in another review that this is a hidden gem and I won't disagree. My wife said we had been…read morethere once before a few years ago, but I confess I don't specifically remember. That is due to my memory, though, not the restaurant, as we enjoyed an excellent dining experience. We were with a relative for that meal, and he wanted to take advantage of the all-day breakfast option. He had pancakes, which I believe were off the specials board, though I didn't catch what flavor. He also said yes to whipped cream on top. He elected to have the sausage with it, which is ground up and made in-house. He said the sausage was excellent, so I will have to try it sometime. But I saw a Reuben on the menu, and in my quest for a Reuben as good as I used to order at a now-closed deli in Portland, I ordered one here. Okay, I don't believe I will ever find one to beat that long-past sandwich, but this Reuben was great and I am sure I will order it again in the future, after I try a few other items from their menu. The fries that came with it were cooked perfectly and the half-sour pickle was, well, a pickle. My wife ordered a sort of potato chicken bowl from the specials menu. It had gravy in it and more, and she liked it. The service was great, with the server graciously taking a family photo of the three of us after the meal. Because of the varied selection and the quality we found, we won't be so long going back there, I am sure.

I highly recommend travelers check out the Newport Diner. It's a local favorite…read more While visiting family in Maine, after two days of driving, my wife and I wanted to get a decent meal. I was encouraged by my son to try the Newport Diner. I love diners for their speed and for the people who dine there, and the staff. So we went. I almost passed it, because from the outside it looks nothing like I was expecting. It looks like a house and blends in with neighboring homes. Love that. Inside the decor is simple. Comfy. The staff was responsive, alert, efficient, and VERY friendly. The food was amazing. Portions were generous. The coffee was great. Again, I highly encourage hungry travelers to try this quiet little gem of a diner!!!
