Omg the new tapas menu. Come and get it!!! Chef Felipe has outdone himself again. The new tapa menu features 9 delicious options at affordable prices. Perfect for a drink and bite. Love this place!!!

Pistachio martini (front) and espresso martini (back) - this is after a few sips, they always come filled to the rim!

Updating my review yet again because I can't say enough good things about this place. Brandon, the bartender, is what makes this place so good. He makes the best cocktails and is such a pleasure to talk to. He can make any drink and always remembers what we typically order.

What an extraordinary experience! From the ambiance , the exquisite food and the exceptional service . If your ever in Winthrop, MA , this restaurant is a must ! The attention to detail was unlike no other . The craftsmanship of the art work within the restaurant was beautiful. They were conversation starters and a pleasure to view . The owner and artist is a magnificent talent and so humble in the explanation of his pieces. The bartender was knowledgeable and professional. His expertise in cocktails was memorable. He also took such good care of us The must try cocktail was the pistachio martini Unbelievable!!! Hats off to the chef because all the plates were wonderful and had a beautiful presentation . The attention to detail in this establishment is 5 stars !!!! Thank you guys for a fabulous evening !!

Food tasted great but service was a bit slow even though we were at the restaurant early and there were only two other tables. It took a good 10-15 minutes for basic appetizer. Don't expect much of ambiance.

Good local restaurant here and no complaints . We had the pigs ears , calamari , fries and the burger as to go and we enjoy it pretty much . Crispy pig ears and good fries. Next time we will try the main entree when we have a chance to sit down.

Without a doubt one of our favorite restaurants of all time. Incredible flavors and the bartender Brandon is superior. We go a lot because it is always a great time. The owner also is a carpenter and his creations are all over the restaurant and are so unique and fascinating.

After making a reservation, the three of us arrived shortly after noon to find the restaurant completely empty. In fact, there were no staff in sight. After calling toward the kitchen, a waitress appeared, and we seated ourselves. After ordering waters and iced teas, we looked over the extensive menu and chose: * Ay Caramba! ($16) - A vegetarian tapa packed with corn, peppers, spinach, mushrooms, and more. * Margherita Pizza ($18) - Garlic confit, fresh basil, vine-ripened tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella. * Panko-Crusted Baked Haddock ($32) - Served with roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and a white wine cream reduction. The Ay Caramba! was the standout dish of the meal. It was flavorful, with a great texture, and easily our favorite. The Margherita pizza featured a very thin, crisp crust with fresh tomatoes and a light touch of sauce, making for a good but not exceptional pizza. Opinions on the haddock were mixed--one diner enjoyed it, while another thought it had a slightly fishy taste. The restaurant itself has a pleasant, inviting atmosphere, and once service began, our waitress was friendly, attentive, and checked on us several times throughout the meal. At almost $100 with tip, this isn't an innexpensive place. That said, we enjoyed lunch and would be happy to return. Tip: Metered parking is available on the street and there is a small parking lot next to Valsos. You can also park further down toward the beach, about a 5-minute walk to the restaurant.

I came here 4 times when in town for a conference, as this way super conveniently located to the conference center (Menino). It's open 7am-10pm daily, is always seemingly busy but always very efficient and fast to deliver orders, and has a huge amount of comfortable seating. First visit: I tried the vegan breakfast burrito ($12), a nicely designed burrito with tofu, potato, spinach, roasted red peppers, vegan cheese, and mushrooms, served with salsa on the side. Very solid burrito. The Spanish burrito I tried another day--which came with vegan meatballs of some sort--was even better. Second visit: I got an açai bowl ($9 for the small size; $12 for regular), and added vegan protein powder ($2) blended in. It came with açai blended with almond milk, banana, strawberries, blueberries, and granola. Real good and plentiful even for the small size. Third visit: just ordered a bagel with vegan cream cheese that had tomato in it, and added some spinach on top ($5.50 total). Very generous spinach portion (for $0.50!), well-toasted bagel, and an appropriate amount of cream cheese. Very tasty. Moreover, each time I visited, I ordered a double espresso ($3.50), which was excellent. Proper espresso, deep body, strong, served with sparkling water and a piece of dark chocolate.

The Platters, both the breakfast and mezze are gorgeous. Pictures attached. The interior has ample seating and is bright and beautiful. We were in a completely empty restaurant but they still managed to sit a very loud party right next to us. Ordered a glass of Cabernet- fairly decent pour. Nonetheless, I received my table immediately. State Street's tap beer selection had decent regional representation - Zero Gravity, Jacks Abbey, Lawsons, Maine Beer, Night Shift, and Dorchester Brewing. For this dinner, I sampled the brussel sprouts (appetizer, $13), the scallop tagliatelle ($38), and sides of broccolini and house-cut fries ($6 ea). The brussel sprouts arrived in the textbook modern fashion - crisped up leaves and well seasoned. The establishment chose to garnish theirs with soy caramel, miso yogurt, and cilantro. The broccolini side also received a decent coating of oil and seasoning - the exact treatment that a high end steakhouse would give. The house cut fries proved liberally salted and not overly oily. My main, the scallop tagliatelle, had scallops seared to perfection and with a hint of smokiness. The pasta itself carried seafood savoriness, accentuated by a cream sauce that coated well but didn't feel too heavy on the palate. The atmosphere seemed nice and upscale but not unapproachable. My outdoor table faced State Street. Since it was the final part of the street before reaching the waterfront, it saw little traffic so I was not annoyed by cars passing a few feet away. Overall, I quite enjoyed my dinner. I'll be sure to keep State Street in mind the next time I'm looking for a modern New England seafood restaurant.

Your options, and your experience, will be limited. It would not surprise me if the "kitchen" were composed of a small grill, a panini grill, a microwave, and a refrigerator. After we sat down, it took a couple of minutes for one of the waitresses to visit our table. By then we had decided what to eat and drink. They only have Sam on tap, and everything else, including Sam Seasonal, is in bottles - or so they say. Since we wanted drafts, we ordered Sam - we actually got Sam Summer (so... win). BUT... as soon as we finished giving our waitress our drink order, we paused to begin our dinner order, and she walked away without even checking with us. The rest of the evening, the other waitress too, (MUCH) better care of us. The buffalo chicken fingers appetizer was okay, as was my panini. The lasagna was obviously microwaved. Everything was ok, nothing more. I wish there had been more of a pub or lounge atmosphere to the place.
