Sambalos was a great experience overall. The food was well made, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. The only slight downside was that the parrillada portion was smaller than expected. Aside from that, everything was excellent, especially the desserts, which were easily a 10/10. I'd definitely recommend it and would go back again.

Delicious, Fun, and amazing cocktails. We had a fun time with the tapas food. The food came fast and the dessert was good. Would recommend.

I enjoyed their lobster rolls in the summer months. Ordered the scallop plate, a cup chowder, a draft ipa. Nice mellow views of the harbor on a frigid cold lunch time day. Scallop plate I thought needed more scallops, but I always want more. Scallops were fresh and did the job for me. Onion rings excellent, fries good but too many ... few less, and few more onion rings . The cole slaw I needed more as this was exactly the type slaw I like... The cup clam chowder was full of ingredients, potatoes... nice hot, creamy ... 6.99 for cup was 1-2 bucks steep for size... 4.99 would be fair . All in all ... fresh and cooked fresh and hot A great meal 4-5 stars... 5 if here was a couple more scallops for the 28.99 or 4.99 or 5.99 for the cup chowder vs 6.99... They did, but pulled some punches. I opted for an Italian Wedding soup, which hit right. The soup was well seasoned and the vegetables still had enough texture to signal to me they were fresh. While I had been hoping to enjoy the soup as a first course, the kitchen brought my Sicilian chicken panini at the same time. The chicken was well cooked (and not too pressed) but the flavor of the red pepper was a bit lost in the mayonnaise (which in hindsight was an odd choice of topping for this one). We also had pancakes and eggs -- because breakfast all day almost seems like a good idea. The pancakes were well cooked but was looking for a lot more crispiness from the bacon. Service was a bit spotty and our dishes did take awhile to appear. Fortunately, there were some nice ladies with a few too many martinis to keep us entertained.

For a little restaurant on a quiet street corner in Winthrop, you'd never expect the vibrant atmosphere just beyond the front door. Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen in the Greater Boston Area, but owner Lisa, her family, and her staff have succeeded in making Vuolo's a destination restaurant. You better bring an appetite because their menu demands nothing less. I could fill up on just the crusty bread and roasted garlic oil alone. My top two appetizers are probably the tender meatballs and perfectly crispy mozzarella fritti. If you need some greens, the Caesar salad is perfect for sharing. As for entrees, it's usually a toss-up between the chicken parm and gnocchetti, unless it's October, when I only have eyes for the divine pumpkin ravioli. (That is a reminder to always review their monthly and Monday/Tuesday specials.) While all of their desserts are amazing, the crème brûlée and tiramisu are standouts. For those that imbibe, Vuolo's array of cocktails will truly blow your hair back. Beverage Director Joe is a wizard that knows how to satisfy any palate. Not only do they nail all the classics, but their inventive cocktail creations are not to be missed. Their creamy martinis (espresso, pistachio, and pumpkin in the fall) are the best I've had anywhere. I also really love Ol' Buddy Ol' Pal, their version of an old fashioned. In both taste and presentation, Vuolo's cocktails give any popular cocktail bar in the city a run for its money. The caliber of dining and food options in Winthrop has improved in recent years, and I would say that Vuolo's was the one to kickstart that movement. Needless to say, I feel just a tad spoiled having them so close to home. Nothing beats a satisfying meal in a cozy environment with some of the friendliest customer service around. Whether I'm planning a birthday outing or just want a casual weekday dinner, Vuolo's is always a top contender.

Thanks to my recent visit to Royal, I am no longer a virgin (to a Northshore Roast Beef) anymore!…read more I am a Northshore native but amazing enough only became privy to Northshore Roast Beefs a few months ago. I never realized that it was "a thing." Thank you to Micheal "The Real" Imondi at his YouTube channel for getting me privy to this succulent Sammie. IYKYK. If you don't know -I tell ya: A Northshore Roast Beef is an onion bun and sliced rare roast beef with James River BBQ Sauce and mayo and an American cheese slice. The Sammie is often called a Super Beef or a King Beef here at Royal. The BBQ sauce is applied wicked heavy doody whereby the Sammie is lambasted with a huge bolus of sauce blopped on top and then the top bun is put on. It's a big boy and sloppy AF one. Royal is a scrappy little joint and shows her wears of many years of hangry eaters. The staff was nice, and they know their stuff. This beef was melt-in-your-mouth and sliced thinly AF -merely a few femtometers in thickness. This Sammie was epic. And it's the real deal here. Unique despite its simplicity. It's a pricey puppy at 16 bucks for the King Beef. Worth every penny. Five stars here, bro. Peep it out, YELPERS! See you all in the Noth Shaw !!! NOTE: A legit NRB MUST have a mile-high pile of roast beef. CORRECTION: This review is for the Stoneham location and not the East Boston location.

If you stick with the seafood, you're going to have a great meal. That said, keep in mind it is a seafood restaurant. They have chicken wings on the menu, we figured we'd get them to share until the food came out.. They were honestly terrible. The order we received came with six extremely small, overcooked pieces that were so dry and tough looking they weren't even edible. Just looking at them we didn't bother as they weren't at all appetizing. I'm not sure if it was a bad day, a supply issue, or something else entirely, but they were a complete miss. Speaking of, service can be hit or miss as well. This past weekend, we had a wonderful server who was friendly, attentive, and made the experience enjoyable. The visit before that, however, was the exact opposite. Our server--who seemed to be either a manager or assistant manager--spent nearly all of his time chatting up a table of women, clearly trying to get phone numbers. Trying to get his attention for anything felt like a major inconvenience. What motivated me to write this today is that not only was the service good on our latest visit, but we also tried the fried seafood instead of the usual seafood boil--and it was absolutely excellent, and not at all expensive. Both the fried shrimp plate and the fried clam plate were outstanding. If you haven't tried their fried options, or not in the mood to put on gloves and dig into a seafood boil, don't sleep on their fried seafood. It was surprisingly impressive. Overall: great seafood, inconsistent service, avoid the wings entirely, and definitely give the fried dishes a try.
