I made an appointment but they also take walk ins. There was just one woman working at the salon. I waited for her to finish with another customer before I could be seen. I asked for my damaged ends to get cut off and for layers. It took about 20 minutes from beginning to end, which she cut completely dry first, then cut again after straightening my hair (I opted for the no shampoo option). I told her that that I was growing out my bangs but they ended up too short. When I got home I noticed that some of my face framing pieces were slightly uneven, which I trimmed myself. Overall I think it's a decent cut, and it might help to have a picture as a reference and to be very clear about length. read more

I have never been a client of theirs before and I'm trying my luck to put my hair(style) in their hands. So, I called and made an appointment, they've managed to squeezed me into their schedule even though it was a very late notice for color service. I'm a mom of two, trying out new-never-have-I-done before look, such as, blond or very light brown hair color. I have a black thick Asian hair. I want to get an ombré, bayalage, two tone shadow roots, highlights and lowlights (I showed them picture that I found on IG and they know exactly what it is). Anyway, when I walked in, I just don't know what my hair is going to be like after, I was a bit nervous. The ladies are super nice and very welcoming. They definitely know what they're doing, and had worked on many clients before. Sat me down and started to work on my hair. She is very good at listening and catch on to what you want as for style, texture and length and color. I just showed pictures of the hair style and color style. She also confirm with me before she made any initial cuts. Mid process I saw my hair was bright "banana yellow" But then again since my natural hair was black black... so I kept calm and it was only half way. Onto the second half of coloring. Another while later, shampoo, blow out and curls. And I was shocked and I love it! I look so different with this beautiful ombré and blond hair. I went there for the first time today and I'm so glad I did! I usually go to another salon in Burien but they were too busy to fit me in for a wash and style so I searched up salons on yelp and came across 9 cuts salon. They were able to accommodate me 30 minutes after I called, which is fine considering I live 10 mins away and wanted to grab a coffee beforehand. Within the first few seconds of walking in I was kindly greeted by the owner and her sister.. I could already tell I was going to get good service, and I definitely did! Michelle ended up doing my wash and asked if I wanted to do a face massage which I agreed to. It was wonderful and only an additional $10. She massaged my face for 25 mins, added a cleanser and fresh cucumber slices as a mask while she finished washing my hair. As far as styling goes, I just wanted to get it straightened. My hair is really thick and wavy, and Michelle had no problem getting it pin straight. I'm so impressed with this salon and will be bringing my mother-in law in tomorrow morning. Beware. I spent seven hours in a chair for a balayage and a haircut. What I got was highlights that were orange and a cut that was ok. This was amateur hour. I'm lucky my hair didn't fall out with the amount of time I sat with dye and bleach in my hair. When they finally finished they told me how I received full highlights vs the balayage that I asked for because a balayage only looks good on Asian women. What? I still paid - maybe I shouldn't have - and I paid $600 yesterday correcting the mistakes that they made. Bottom line, if you want a simple cut and a box dye job, they are very cheap. Anything beyond that will really cost you in the end - a lot of wasted time because they can't manage their appointments, and money because they don't have a ton of experience doing hair. UPDATED: Someone who monitors their posts responded. There were several women sitting for hours with dye in their hair, hair wet waiting for a cut - one even commented that it's pretty typical you spend 4 hours or more. As many of us were waiting they kept taking more appointments for haircuts. The pics posted seem manipulated - buzz cuts and simple highlights. The ladies here are super friendly, make you feel welcome from the start and make the effort to talk with you, pay attention to details, as well as work very hard to do what they do. Before my haircut, I was given a Mini facial and scalp massage, which was a nice treat (I had purchased a Groupon). The hairstylist was professional, made sure to give me feedback on how to color and care for my hair, shaped my hair well and cut off bulk to better frame my face and I was pleased with the end result, even though more than a trim was done. For what they do, I feel like they undercharge so I tipped them more and she actually tried to refuse it saying it was too much. I made her take it anyways. First, before I get into the nitty gritty of this review, I need to disclose some hair history (this will help provide some context of where I'm coming from). I was born with dark, thick, and smooth Asian hair, the kind where no matter how long you spend curling it, will die in 20 minutes. I began my hair journey more than 5 years ago, with just red color over my black hair. Then I bleached it and got a slate grey all-over. It faded and I got another bleaching session for pink hair, which got bleached again for purple when the roots started coming in. All those were done at a salon with Olaplex (which I highly recommend). I started bleaching my roots myself (with Olaplex) a couple times and at this point all color had faded away and I was left with platinum white. I had less than half the hair I started out with, so I am a huge advocate right now for hair health. That was one of my requirements when looking for a new salon. I previously went to an independent that left the salon that did my pink and purple hair (who ended up being a terrible stylist that overcharged for messing up) before I decided I needed someone who knew what they were doing. That was another requirement: reasonable prices (and not those insane $400+ balayage colors). Enter in, 9 Cuts. My hair at that point was 1/3 natural, 1/3 dyed brown, and 1/3 just bleached hair. I was just growing it out again so nothing had been done to it. My friend recommended this place, saying how AFFORDABLE and how much EFFORT they put into making your hair look like what you want. I should emphasize that many people whose idea of what they want doesn't really align with what looks good on them. BUT THEY DO IT HERE. They not only ASSESS what looks good on you (pale skin, thin hair, etc.) but they try to apply your idea to your own beautiful self! They forgot to take pics for me, but I can assure you my hair looks just like it. I'm visiting my in laws in Seattle and as I had luxury of having multiple helpers to watch my baby I decided to get my hair done. I searched yelp and google to find a place that's known for their coloring. I'm very picky with my hair color so it took a long time of research to find Kim! And I'm so glad it turned out great. I also have a scar in the back so I asked him not to use a #2 guard but his English isn't that good so he just did it anyways. This salon has only been open for three weeks but the stylists there have many, many years of experience and it shows! I contacted the salon asking for an estimate and the owner responded back fairly quickly. We communicated back and forth about what I was looking for and what she would be working with. For a cut and color (ombré) it came out to be 130, and they have a special going on for 30% off color! So comparing this price to other salons, it was a steal! Came in and first impression of the owner, Kim, was that she was extremely sweet and very knowledgeable. I have the typical dark Asian hair, so I knew it was going to take some work. But with Kim's expertise and attention to detail, we were able to get the color I wanted, which was a sandy blonde.
