Definitely a VERY late review. First off, I asked for my hair to look like the picture. Yes ik my hair isn't as long or thick as hers, but that was not the point I wanted THAT COLOR. She let me choose the color but when I chose it I told her solely, I wanted to look like that picture so whatever u can to get me there I'm down. Customer service was pretty good had some nice convo's but when my hair was done and she knew I felt off about it by my reaction, but she was open to helping me fix my problems. read more

The pictures don't do justice. I came in with extremely fried hair. Nicole did an amazing job! She washed my hair and put treatment. She then cut it while wet and blow dried my hair after. My hair really needed this TLC. My hair has so much more volume now and looks 10 times healthier. read more

I'm so happy I found Salon Michelle! It's a full service hair salon that I feel comfortable taking my whole family too. We saw Katie and she did a phenomenal job on my haircut and was sweet and accommodating to my kiddos. And they have super cute, local swag in the front. I've bought some birthday and Mother's Day gifts and it feels so much better supporting local rather than the big corporations. And I love that the owner leads quarterly clean ups of the city. Katey is such a great stylist! I went to see her after a couple of not great experiences at my previous salon and she gave me the bangs of my dreams! I've been to her a few times now and I'm so pleased with how my hair looks and feels. She asks questions to understand what I'm going for and what my goals are for growing out my hair and maintaining my bangs. She is really friendly and easy to talk to and she truly is awesome at what she does. I would probably drive an hour to have my hair cut by katey, but Lucky for me the salon is so close to my home. If you don't have a pic of exactly what you want. AVOID Michelle's. I carefully explained what I wanted, the stylist seemed to understand, then had a question and talked to Michelle. That's when it all went to hell. I'm in my 60s, and this is the WORST haircut I have ever had, bar none!!! It will take 6-8 months before my hair has enough length to try for the cut that they should have given me in the first place. Meanwhile, I have purchased a wig, my first since I was very young. Michelle's quip that at least I did not have cancer like her friend who would lose her hair, did nothing to soften the blow of this horrible haircut. read more

Michelle is friendly and always open to good conversation. Felicia cuts my wife's hair and daughters' hair as well and delivers excellently each time. Yesterday while driving to school, I caught a glimpse of the caterpillars that had taken the place of my normally manicured brows. I decided that I needed to do an emergency wax stop, so I searched in the immediate area for a highly rated esthetician. I noticed that Salon Michelle had good ratings and stopped by. As luck would have it, the salon owner, Michele, had received a cancellation, and would be able to help me immediately. I got a good feeling the moment I entered her salon. Spotless, cool colors, great smells AND good music? Count me in. Michelle is a hip chick, a straight shooter who takes pride in her salon and her work. She didn't rush through the waxing, talked to me about the benefits of the wax they use, and how it is beneficial for even sensitive skin. She did a tremendous job on my brows/lip combo, and I look forward to future visits. My only regret? I didn't find her sooner! I'll return, and look forward to trying her other services. read more

I got a Brazilian wax with Janesa here but my experience wasn't great. Janesa is very nice and friendly and I feel that she did her best. However, she seemed uncomfortable and this was the most painful wax I have ever gotten. I've been getting regular Brazilians for 18 months and tried this place because my regular one is always booked if I try to go last minute. I've also never had a wax that took so long. It took a full hour and let's just say the job was still not completely done. I do want to stress though that Janesa was nice and tried her best. My impression was that maybe the quality of the wax here isn't the best because she seemed to have trouble ripping it off and it wouldn't get all the hairs. Let's just say a LOT of picking and yanking was involved. This was the first time I considered leaving in the middle of wax and not waiting for it to be over. read more

I have been to over 50 barbers/stylists and I have concluded that JEREMY ROSS at Salon Michele is the guy you want to see for your hair. He is the barber of barbers (he gives other barbers their haircut) :) Jeremy always gives me a consistent cut that is immaculate. Not one hair is out of place and every line is extra clean!. He can blend and fade anything. I used to get #3's on the side because my hair didn't look right any shorter. Eventually I went down to #2 then down to #1 and now #1/2 to #1 blend. He meticulously customizes blends and fades based on your natural hair pattern, face structure, and head shape. Turns out that all of the other dozens of barbers I tried just didn't know what they were doing. You might know a barber who can do a great fade or a stylist who works well with medium to long hair. Jeremy has the unique ability to do both. In my experience barbers who give me good fades and blends dont know what they are doing up top. The barbers that can work with 3-5" hair on top cant blend it into my #1 on thr sides. This guy can work with any length and any style. Over the years I have tried fohawks, mohawks, hard parts, pomp's, side parts, short fades, undercuts -- he can do it all. The only complaint I have is that he is in Des Moines and I have to drive 25 miles to get a haircut. It sucks because I don't have any other options, anytime I try someone new they screw up my hair and I instantly regret it. I quickly realized a good barber is hard find and that's why I'll keep coming. read more

I'd never been in before and made the appt because I live just a couple blocks away. I wasn't expecting much considering I've always hated my hair. But OMG Michelle is a miracle worker. I went in with a nightmare of bad coloring and a partially grown out pixie cut, and left 3 hours later with an amazing hair do! She spent so much time making sure she had perfected everything. :):) And the products she recommended weren't bogus, I actually use them every day and they're not complicated. I have been seeing Michelle for about 5 years, and no joke --- I get a compliment on my hair at least once a week. I had been wearing a curly permed bob that I was tired of, and she suggested an alternative. I also told her how much work I was wiling to put into my hair each morning (none) and that I wanted some color. I walked out with the best haircut in the world. I came here about a month ago for a sort of last minute brazilian since I couldn't get in to my normal lady on such short notice. I figured I would give it a go since the reviews, although all for hair styling, are all great so it should be OK. I have been getting brazilian waxes for over a year now, and I have to say that this was a bit of an uncomfortable experience for me. I'm giving two stars because Jamesa was very nice and sweet, but she really didn't seem comfortable with what she was doing at all. She had me try 3 or 4 different positions before she found a good way to get the back, and the rest of the process took a pretty long time. Almost any time she ripped off the wax, she seemed quite hesitant and didn't want to hurt me even though I kept saying to just go for it and get it over with. Again, Jamesa was very sweet and her hygiene practices were great. I enjoyed having the oil after and the warm towel to wipe off excess wax. My main impression was that she needs to get a little more comfortable and confident with was she's doing. If a longer process is OK with you, give this place a try! read more
