I have been going 3..almost 4 years! I've tried others in between but I always find myself back at 89. My top 3 picks are Huong, Hannah, and Rin. Ask for either of them and you won't be disappointed at all. Don't be afraid to ask for them! Others will be there but the quality that you get is always top Tier coming from Huong, Hannah, and Rin. The short set was done by Huong. The medium coffin full-set was done by rin. As you can see I've been loving my red polish lately. So many colors to choose from and a wide variety of pedicures to choose from also. I can't remember which one of them did the pink set.... but take my advice. This use to be my favorite nail shop in the area. Rin use to do an amazing job on my nails but lately not so much. Whether I get a full set or a fill in, 3 or 4 days later a nail pops off. I am so disappointed in the staff at 89 nails today. I took my 15 year old niece in for mani pedis. Rin was not there and I think if he had been it might have been handled different because he knows I am a long time frequent customer, well I won't be anymore. Upon arriving I said , 2 pedicures and a regular manicure for her. The woman said shellac and I said no same color as toes. Then while doing the pedicure we were asked if she was getting a shellac manicure and I said no, regular. While my niece was sitting having her nails done the nail tech AGAIN asked her about getting shellac, I was not with her, and my niece being too embarrassed to ask her to repeat what she said nodded and smiled. She came to me feeling guilty and said they gave me shellac and by the time she realized it the light was being brought out and she felt like she couldn't speak up. I explained how extremely inappropriate it is to ask the person 1 not paying for the service and 2 a minor something different than what was asked. They took advantage of my niece and rather than saying sorry, the owner Huong's response was to spitefully say we will take it off and paint it with regular... after she is already embarrassed and we sat there for 1.5 hours by this point. That is ridiculous customer service, I should not have paid for it but I did because I didn't want to further argue in front of my niece who was already feeling bad enough. I am furious, they took advantage of her and I will not be returning nor will I recommend them ever again. read more

Longest lasting dip manicure I have ever had is here! With all the fuss going around about dip powder manicures, I'm not sure the process of being more sanitary, but each time I go, they open a new canister (I'm guessing that's just good luck) or I would inquire about something more sanitary. My nails always look so beautiful and they last almost 4 weeks each time! $35 for regular dip, $40 if they have to remove past dip/color. Then, the basic pedicure at $25 which included plush I asked them to remove my calluses instead. The lady said I needed to upgrade my package to $35. I stated I am not getting nail polish. I have been going to 89 nails for a few years but the past two visits were awful. I got a full set and my nails were crooked, uneven and had dents on them ( the fake nails), then, I decided to go one last time and I wanted shellac nail polish and I needed my acrylics taken off. Instead of trying to soak my nails off, the woman tried to remove them with tooth picks and my cuticles started to bleed. I said something to her and she agreed to soak my nails. After that, she recommended I choose a different color than the one I picked out so she grabbed a blue color and started painting my nails. I should have told her to stop and I didn't like it but I was over it and wanted to get out. Needless to say, this is how my cuticles and nails turned out. And the price was 40$. I so want to love this place because it's clean and it's close to my new house, but I'm struggling to do so.The fact that it was busy on a Friday afternoon at 4 is pretty promising, but the pedi that I paid a little more for an upgrade for really wasn't worth the extra money. You can barely feel the hot stone massage that comes with even a normal pedi. But, the straw that broke the camel's back was when the tech clipped beyond my cuticle and basically took a chunk of skin out and I started bleeding. He apologized and put some antiseptic on it, but it hurt like hell when I put my hand under the LED lamp. Everyone was nice there, but how badly do I want to go back and chance getting the same person, and how badly do I want to go through every single tech until I find one I like when my favorite guy works at the place in Dearborn Hts (now a 30 minute drive) I had been going to for years? #firstworldproblems read more

Found this place because of the yelp reviews, but it exceeded even my expectations. I was taken care of as soon as I walked in the door. I got a basic pedicure and a dip powder manicure. I also got tips because I have a terrible nail biting habit and the poor things were simply tiny. Anywho, the service was very nice. My nail artist was extremely thorough and asked me throughout if I liked the shape of the nail or if she was hurting me (she never did and I didn't bleed once, which normally happens because I have cuticle problems). She also really took the time to make the foundation for the dip powder, using clear to make sure the surface was flat, clean, and even so that when she put down the dip powder it would be smooth. She also made sure to file down the nail at each step so that the end product wasn't super thick like I've had with other dip powders. It's too bad I love out of town, or this would be my new go-to place! $45 for the nails with the tips and $25 for the basic pedi. Well worth it! Also, bring cash with you for tips! They can't do it on the card. Update: One of my nails broke! I went back in the next day and they were very nice, fixed it right back up and couldn't even tell the difference!
