The colors I picked were some newer options Trex released and Derrick said he was excited to see how it turns out. Derrick and Luke came out and when I watched them work I was highly impressed. They worked like machines; measuring and communicating like a good team should. Luke is clearly a highly skilled carpenter. I had an idea for angled steps and even though it's a bit complicated he took on the project and built some really cool stairs that make my deck unique. Their attention to detail really showed and they kept me informed of their progress through an app with daily updates in what was complete. Communication was top notch and thats important to me. Pulse wasn't the cheapest company, but the value was great. You get what you pay for and Im glad that I finally have a beautiful deck to enjoy. Design flaw in new stair layout caused base to become issue. Homeowner cleaned but step at base of new steps looks terrible. 3) casement window NOW blocked from fully opening. I have attempted to get Platinum to correct this flaw on design. Old staircase steps and railing did not interfere w window opening. I did not get the customer service I expected after paying $30k for a new deck surface. Btw their model is to collect $ up front print to acceptance. I had the pleasure of contacting David, whom I asked several questions of how he would go about the process and I felt very comfortable with everything he walked through. He scheduled the work for a couple weeks out, text notifications let me know when he would be arriving and he was able to complete everything within a few hours. David cut the replacement beautifully using PVC so there is no maintenance on it in the future and caulked / sealed up all points of exposure to rain. He was very efficient, kind, and answered all the questions I had since I'm learning to do these kinds of tasks on my own. After a small number of quick email exchanges, we arrived at general terms. Then the fun began. We then waited weeks to get an updated estimate in writing. Sean would often take a week to respond to simple email requests. He promised information was coming. Never did. After almost a month, my wife emailed (she called first, but their voicemail was full...seriously?) and was responded to by Jesse, indicating that Sean had experienced a personal difficulty (totally understand...things happen), but that he would forward things the following day. The next day (which at this point made it a month of back and forth) Jesse emailed me to let me know that, due to his personal situation, Sean's crew was sidelined and Jesse's crew was already booked out for months and would be unable to do our job...at all...and they were "passing". All this after being apologized to literally 48 hours earlier and told by Jesse that he would get our updated estimate so we could move forward. Wow. People wonder why contractors have bad names in general. I had been ridiculously patient. I even would have understood if I had been told that, due to a personal issue, our job had to be pushed back a few weeks. However, to be intentionally strung along with multiple assurances over and over, only to then be dropped and left high and dry? Absolutely horrible. Jesse also apparently trolled my wife online (creepy and weird), found out she also has her own business, and made a veiled threat in an email that he hoped that she never experienced a personal challenge similar to Sean, became short staffed, and had people write negative reviews about her business. Again...wow. Stay away. Far away.

I scheduled the work around last November, as I wanted my deck to be refinished and looking good for the full 2025 season. The first days with decent weather in late April the deck was washed, and by early May the deck was finished. A crew of 2 worked a full day power washing and bleaching the deck and 2 sections of yard fencing. Every part of the deck was thoroughly cleaned, including areas not normally visible, and all areas of the deck that were surrounded by bushes. Within about a week, as soon as we had a few sunny days and warmer weather, a crew of three worked a full day sanding and staining the deck and fence. The deck floor was power sanded, and all other surfaces were hand sanded, before all sawdust was carefully blown away and stain was applied. Deck Doc did an outstanding job, and I would not hesitate to recommend them. Communications regarding scheduling were excellent, work was done competently and on the days and at the times promised. The area around the deck was left completely clean when work was completed. Thank you for making my deck look like new.

We did our best to seal off the opening with thick plastic and tape until we could get the window replaced but knew that wouldn't last long. One company we called wanted over $500 just to nail plywood over the opening. In the meantime, we called two window companies to get estimates for the replacement. The first company spent very little time and was rather short with us. They offered nothing in the way of covering the opening for the 6-8 weeks it would take for the new window. Then we called Naperville Windows & Doors. Their representative came to our house and took time to listen to us and address our concerns. Shortly after receiving our estimate (which, by the way, was over $1000 lower than the first company for the same window), Don (who I believe is the owner) came out to get exact measurements. When he saw the gaping hole in our house & our makeshift repair, he offered to nail the old window into place and seal the opening so we wouldn't be without a window for 2 months. When we tried to pay him for his trouble, he wouldn't take any money. Very impressive customer service! Needless to say, we chose to go with NWD. When our window came in, Joe came to install it. He was super nice & did a fantastic job! The window is beautiful & very solid. We were very happy with our experience with NWD and would whole-heartedly recommend them. According to their website: 50% topsoil, 25% torpedo sand and 25% compost (mushroom compost). I got the delivery and they were paid for it. When I arrived from work the front yard of full of flies (in March) and it smelled like rotten eggs and dog POOP together. They are big fresh? clumps. I tried calling them but they were already closed. I'm not a new gardener but I have never used mushroom compost. The next day I got on the phone and I was told that it wasn't mushroom compost but HORSE manure (poop). The guy on the phone said some people use it for their vegetables. He didn't offer any solutions and now we have s*** under our shoes, gloves and the poop smell in the front and back yard. I tried mixing worm casting and the worms stopped moving. I don't know how long this has been processed, if it is fresh, or even what is the ph because the guy on the phone had no idea. I have felt defeated and like crying because I have to use something that would never intend to buy. The risks of using animal waste to plant fruits and vegetables is salmonella and E-Coli. This really sucks.

We have a very large raised 3 story trex deck with rotting cedar railings. Called numerous companies for a railing replacement and the majority would only consider new deck replacement and were not interested, even though this was a big job. We were replacing the cedar with aluminum railings. Dan came by numerous times over a period of months during the planning stages to get us exactly what we wanted for a fair price. He secured samples, talked about the options, was prompt, professional and helpful in all ways. He was quite busy and at one point we assumed that the job wouldn't be done until the early spring. We were fine with that as we didn't need the use of the deck during the winter. Low and behold, here comes Dan and Bill in December ready to start. Permits were secured and no matter the weather those guys were out there working. Before long the rotten cedar railing was replaced with aluminum and look absolutely wonderful. Over the years, I've appreciated having a local store I could rely on for both hardware supplies and occasional home repairs. But my recent experiences have left me deeply disappointed. In October 2024, I called for help re-hanging a heavy picture and fixing about 10 inches of cracked caulking in the shower. Two people came, completed both tasks in about 20 minutes total, and I was billed $175. I assumed this was a minimum service fee and paid it. Then in May 2025, the shower caulking failed again. I called to have it redone, and one person came for another 20-minute visit -- and again, I was charged $175, this time billed directly to my credit card. That's $350 for 40 minutes of basic labor, one job being a re-do of their own work. I called the store to express my concerns, but after a long wait on hold, I felt I was treated curtly and dismissively, with no real acknowledgment of the issue or attempt to address the fairness of the charges. Here in Hinsdale, there's even a local phrase for this kind of experience: "I've been Fullerized." Unfortunately, now I know exactly what that means. I'll still stop in for hardware, but I can't recommend Fullers for home repair services -- not at those prices, and not with that level of customer service. I hope they take this feedback seriously, because longtime customers deserve better.

If they have to do anything more than their job requires they wont do it. They are terrible people to work with.
