Trung did all my tattoos about five years ago, and I recently reached out to him to get a new piece. I would only trust him with my tattoos. Unfortunately, he's been fully booked and now focuses on larger pieces, so he wasn't available for mine. However, he introduced me to his colleague, Diem. I showed them what I had in mind, and Diem came up with an even better idea for my tattoo. It turned out amazing--she did a fantastic job. She was also very polite and answered all my questions. I haven't gotten any tattoos since Trung did my last one five years ago, but I will definitely come back for more from the artists here. They are highly skilled and really understand what you want. I completely forgot to leave a review for this shop. I contacted them about an eyebrow piercing and spoke to Trung to get an appointment set up. If I remember correctly I came in on 8/1/25 and Nhi took care of getting me the paperwork to fill out and did the actual piercing. Before we even did it she asked me about where I wanted it and was very patient with me in making sure it was exactly where I wanted it. It took a couple of tries but I got it to where I want it. Nhi did an amazing job! I barely felt anything and the piercing came out great! I spoke to Trung after about possibly getting another tattoo finished/touched up so in time I'll make another appointment for that. Also, the shop is pretty small so I don't recommend bringing lots of friends. Overall I met Nhi and Trung and they're very chill and will work with you on getting what you want. I HIGHLY recommend 820 studio. I decided to get my first tattoo and decided on the owner Trung for the work. It was going to be my first piece but I wanted to go big and decided to do a full sleeve including my chest and shoulder blade. Every session has been great; his work quality is amazing and the detail is top-notch. I often get compliments on my tattoos from friends, patients, and random people when I am out. Trung himself is very personable and easy to talk to. Conversing with him makes the session go by quickly. I feel like I found the perfect artist and made a friend along the way In terms of professionalism, Trung is very responsive to questions and is willing to work with his clients on what their designs should look like. He gives no push back when asked to redesign some of the pieces if something doesn't fit your style or isn't to your liking. He doesn't make you feel like a bother if ask to reposition or change things up. He has a very light hand so the pain and bleeding is minimal. The Studio itself is clean and well-kept. The atmosphere is very welcoming and light-hearted. All of the artists are easy to talk to. I often see Austin, another of the artists there, during my session and we talk throughout the day along with Trung and his own client. I liked my experience here so much that I am having Trung start and complete my leg sleeve next year once we finish my arm . Service: Trung was always ready to answer any questions I had given that this was my first tattoo ever. Found him through researching tons of artists & their past pieces on Yelp, & noticed that I really liked his Japanese style art. I took 2 past pieces of his art that I really liked, then asked if he could create something similar. He agreed & sent me the sketch a day before my in person appointment. Trung was very caring/always checked in to see how the pain was, & asked if I wanted any breaks during the session. He's a super chill guy & I'd definitely be willing to come back for another one! Vibe: It's a small clean studio where other artists/apprentices share the space as well. I really enjoyed the many funko pop/decorative pieces and it really seems like their clients appreciate their works based on the thank you cards/mementos they display in the studio. I wanted to make sure Trung could have the creative freedom to do what he does best. My first time at 820 was an absolute blast! Nicki was willing to go above and beyond in everything, even for the simpler yet subtle things like tattoo placement so that it looks best on my arm. Her line work and shading techniques are very good imo, and I could feel the confidence in the way she executed things. She also changed the original design so that the dragon scales would look a LOT better (see pic)! Personality-wise, Nicki was very friendly and professional - she even offered me and my guest food for lunch during session breaks, and stayed positive until the very end of our 5-hour appointment. The level of detail and care Trung puts into his work is amazing. I got a 7-8 in piece done and he took just less than 5 hrs. The other artists were also amazed by how much detail and quality was required for the piece but Trung did everything in one session. This tattoo and piercing shop is one of the best in SJ. It's fairly new but the quality of the work is amazing. You can tell they are talented artists. My artist is Trung and he is the best! He is very patient and fun to talk to. I have gotten 4 of my tattoos done from him. Big pieces is his specialty with Japanese Modern style and he is really good at what he does. He always communicates with you and makes sure the design is perfect for you but also he incorporates his ideas too. The vibes of the place is really chill. He makes sure you are comfortable and would ask if you want to play your music. I had my big back piece done him and after 7 sessions later it was worth it. Drove all the way from Sacramento just to get his work done. I had this piece done back in end 2021 and finally finished in February 2023. I had reschedule a few times but he is willing to coordinate with you. But make sure you get in as soon as you can because he is very busy and booked on months in advance! He posts his rates and hours on his IG page and he's getting better each time. He's very sweet and awesome to talk to. The other tattoo artists are very nice as well with amazing work. After my last tattoo session I last minute decided to get a piercing with Nhi. She was kind of enough to squeeze me. I got a conch piercing from her and she charged me $30 at the time. I really appreciated Nhi being very friendly and sanitary in her station. She was also very informative with the piercing and after care process. I got a crane with some spider lilies on my forearm with Austin. Absolutely in love with this piece and I can't stop looking at it! Austin is super-easy going and is new to the shop. He has a good eye for placement, even making sure you have room for future pieces. Upon making the decision for placement, he had some really good suggestions and I couldn't be more happy with the work he put in. I sent him a piece that I really liked while explaining how I wanted it to flow, he revised the image into something very similar, and made it into a reality for me. Later, he gave me an estimate about how many sessions it will take along with a financial estimate then we booked it. In person, Austin is very attentive and diligent about his art; he's always looking at the stencil with the intention of putting himself into your shoes to see if you'll really like it where it is. He doesn't hesitate to change anything about the piece to fit your preference. As Austin peeked at it more and more, he saw my vision about how I wanted the piece to sit/flow and that's how I knew I wouldn't regret anything. Service: Throughout the session, Austin always made sure I was comfortable even with the way I had to set myself up for the piece. He consistently asked me what my pain level was, if I needed any breaks, or to offer me water. He was always prepared to answer any type of question I had, whether or not it was about the tattoo. The artists at this shop are so professional, yet caring and easy to get along with. They are the type of people that look out for not just their customers but each other, which is a rarity. Here, I also met Trung, another tattoo artist of the shop, who introduced himself to me even though I wasn't his client. It made me feel so much more welcomed and invited. He constantly checked up on me and Austin with the progress of the tattoo.
