Came here for a session with Heather, my dream artist, and I could not have had a better experience! The parking situation is a bit tight as the plaza is shared with a Wingstop and other businesses; I had no issues getting a spot though. Coordination of the appointment was so easy. I contacted Heather online and got a slot for the next day as she had available time. I came in for a big design on my thigh. I came in at noon and stayed until 9 PM. I was given plenty of breaks and she even got me a snack from the convenience store nearby. I loved how much she paid attention to detail, and she went lengths to. make me feel comfortable. All of the artists were so friendly. The bathrooms and other spaces were clean. I enjoyed browsing the flash design book at the front of the store during my break. My husband and I got matching tattoos back in October with an artist. We had a great quick experience as the tattoo was pretty basic. We were told we had a 6month touch up policy but when we inquired about the touch up several times our request has yet to be un answered. While the service we received the day of was great the policy and inquiry has been poor. I am very dissatisfied with the lack of response I have received and for this i would not recommended coming back. read more

I love this tattoo shop with my whole heart. The last time I was here was last year on Friday the 13th. Got to pick from two sheets of designs (which were all REALLY good designs), I couldn't decide so I asked for help. The artists were SO kind and and I didn't feel uncomfortable at any point. I know I'm writing this review a few years later. I got my first tattoo with Chase on February 14, 2022. My grandma had just passed away a few days before and I wanted to get a tattoo for her. I got the date and time she passed and a little coffee cup for my tattoo.. since it was my first tattoo I didn't know what to expect.. I had my friend take a picture of the stencil once it was on and it looked good.. well so i thought... I absolutely loved the tattoo once it was finished. I noticed a few days later that the little coffee cup I got was extremely slanted. I did tell him I wanted it a little slanted but I didn't think it was extremely slanted it looks like it's falling off my tattoo. I wish I was able to stand in the mirror and see what it looked like but I was not offered that.. Now that my tattoo is fully healed and almost 3 years old the ink spread super bad. My tattoo does not feel like regular skin you can actually feel the tattoo it's almost like braille. I later came to find out from other tattoo artist that Chase went too deep which caused my tattoo to be almost like braille.. i wish I did my research instead of finding the first place and just taking it. read more

I was looking for someone with the ability to capture the real aspects of an image and in black and white, etch it into eternity. Brandon was polite, cordial, professional and so incredibly chill. Over the course of each session, I saw the extent of the professionalism he has running his shop. He has high standards. All the artists at this shop run a clean ship. Brandon's work is exactly what I wanted, if not better, working from photographs I'd taken myself. I honestly can't speak loud enough praises. Don't come here for piercings period. I called in to see if I could get a piercing done after work like a week before Christmas. Guy said ok give me 30 boom it's all cool. I come in it's empty and quiet etc. guy brings me back and I fill out the form on the tablet and we do placement everything is normal what ever. But the guy does not speak the entire time doesn't mention anything about caring for the piercing products to use etc. You are supposed to research the piercing ofc and know how to take care of it but regardless every single piercing I've gotten came with a paper, products to buy etc. Maybe thats just how the shops in chicago operate but the vibes are super good the entire time unlike here. The guy cut the dermal hole way too big and took a lot of time like it was his first dermal, didn't give me a bandaid to cover it nothing. It was super awkward and weird so I just left after. The piercing fell out in my car on the way home. I was like whatever and popped it back in and did my own thing. Well dermals reject very easily and commonly so a few months in it feels tight etc. I called to get it taken out and the lady working tonight tells me shes going to check if they have the equipment etc then says they dont have the right equipment. It didn't even sound like she checked. I called a shop down the street and the lady that picked up said straight up "are you serious that is fu*king ridiculous". Previously to the piercing I inquired about getting a tattoo by a different guy and he seemed so uninterested and on top of that it was 200$ by hour. I live near by and am all about supporting small and local businesses but this place just keeps giving me the "i dont give a damn" vibes. Its not about the piercing rejecting cause honestly it happens nothing to be angry about but its just the atmosphere and attitude in general. My shit hurts and they cant even take it out. Why add piercings to the list if you dont have all the supplies for everything? read more

She's insanely skilled and I can't say enough about all the work and overtime she's put into my pieces. I went here to see Katy for her micro blading services. And let me say...seeing her was worth every penny. First of all, the studio is super clean and welcoming! I felt very comfortable waiting. I was also kept company by their sweet dog. When I finally saw Katy, she went over what the process would be and asked me about my concerns regarding my eyebrows. She then took her time to carefully measure out my eyebrows. Once the measurements were done, she showed me to make sure I liked how they looked and then we got started. I am SO glad I was able to discover this place! My friend had been talking about how great Heather was for a long time, and how much she enjoyed the other artists here. I walked in yesterday after my original artist didn't pan out, and Chase was extremely welcoming and professional. He made sure the sizing and placement was how I envisioned it. I had my favorite prayer, written in my dads handwriting, and he even photoshopped a small smudge the ink made, so that it looked better. I love this shop! The vibe is always so fun and down to earth. You can tell that everyone who works there genuinely respects each other, which gives it a nice atmosphere! Chase has now done three of my tattoos. 2 were touch up/ cover ups in which he completely transformed them. Chase has quoted me correctly on how long each of my tattoos will take (although I've always been aware that you can't always give an exact timing/ pricing estimate; sometimes tattoos take longer than thought or shorter, it all depends). He takes his time with each of my pieces and makes them exactly what I vision! I would recommend any and everyone to go to this shop! On a side note, I would also recommend using numbing cream. (I got a 15 dollar one off Amazon, put it on 3 hours prior to my tattoo appointment, and wrapped in Saran Wrap) I got a tattoo on my spine today and almost fell asleep because I couldn't feel anything. read more

Got my second tattoo ever by Brandon who is also the owner of the Black Lantern shop. Scheduled my appointment two days before the appointment actually happened which was really great that they were able to get me in that early. The night before I asked if I could drastically change the design of the tattoo and he was more than understanding and willing to do so despite already drawing up a rough draft of the first design. The shop was very clean and had an overall good positive environment.
