Great company to work with locally. They were super responsive! I locked our keys in our condo, and I panicked. I called our site manager, and he suggested "808". They came to unlock our place but had an issue with our lock. (a brand new lock version, I guess, and almost unlock proof!) Very fast and friendly service. I called ahead to make sure that they had what we needed. Before stopping in, was given directions on where they are located and also best place to park. Within 15 minutes I was in and out of their store. It really only took that long because I was talking story so long with them. :) Friendly, affordable and fast. I have used this company on a regular basis. And tonight my stolen and recovered safe with my valuables were brought back to me. The Maui police were here and needed to get it opened to see what was still in it. They took over 20 minutes to get here and when they Showed up I explained that I had been robbed and had put a stop on all my credit cards and asked if he could bill me.. He said no and threatened to leave if I didn't pay in cash $175. I was able to find some some cash that I had got from the bank today. He never gave me a receipt for the work. Said he would email it to me but never asked for my email address. I have done thousands of dollars of business with company but I will never do business with them again. Shady shady. read more

Went to another locksmith on island, same price, simple procedure, without the attitude. This company was awesome to deal with! They answered there phones right away and came out quickly to fix our door that wouldn't open because the lock got stuck!! So we couldn't get in or out of our condo unless we went through the lanai. They were great to deal with professional and courteous! Went here to get one key made for a Dodge 2005 Grand Carvan. They had to special order it from mainland and they told me they would call me when it came in. After a couple weeks having not heard from them I stopped in to see if the key had arrived. It had but they told me it would take 30 minutes to get code set on key with the Dodge. I didn't have time so made appointment for the next available time. Three visits/ attempts later they inform me the car needs to go to dealership in order to get car reset to get a key to work. Out $140 dollars and a bunnch of my time. I do not recommend this locksmith for any automotive 'chip' keys. read more

They installed a lock on our front door that the screen handle hits and won't close. Then the handle gets stuck on the lock. It doesn't fit where they installed it. It is a rental and someone will keep trying to close the screen door and bust the lock. When asked about their poor installation, the answer was hey, if the lock works were fine with it. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Their website says 24/7 service but when I called them around 7 pm they picked up then hung up immediately. Thinking it must have been a mistake I called back only to be hung up on again. If you're not a 24/7 business don't claim to be. Also, you could simply say you're not available or just not answer instead of hanging up on someone who is probably already upset about a situation they're hoping you can fix. read more

Scam. Charged me $200 to unlock my older model truck. This job is not more than $80. He was rude before he even gave me the price.

I went to enjoy a nice breakfast out on my lanai on a Saturday morning and inadvertently ended up locking myself out of my house. My front door was locked, and I had no key hidden or with my neighbors. After some calling around, I ended up with Randy, the owner of 808 Safe House, on the phone. Within fifteen minutes, Randy was at my apartment, and within another 45 seconds I was back inside my home. On top of saving the day in an incredibly small amount of time, his rate was completely reasonable. Locking myself out was unfortunate, but I'm glad to have gained the knowledge of where to find the best locksmith in town. Worst customer service I have ever seen. Broke a key in ignition they said they could fix it. Took 7 hours and 2 calls to get them to show up. Pulled the key out in 5 minutes and made 3 new keys that don't work, charged me $200 and when I called back the guy told me oh well he did me a favor !!! He even said "well how about I come down and break the key off in the ignition again" Biggest ripoff on the southside. I have never written a bad review but this guy was unbelievable ! If you have needs go somewhere else cause this guy just wants your $$$. If you can't do the job don't take people's money. read more

So after my regrettable phone experience with the owner that resulted in the above review, I contacted the original contractor for my keyless entry locks (Rob Wengel of Secure Lodging Systems, who subcontracts with 808 Safe House). Rob was awesome, apologized for the rude treatment I had received and intervened on my behalf. The locksmiths from 808 came out the next day--and to be fair these guys themselves have always been friendly and professional--and fixed the problem free of charge. They also taught me a bit about troubleshooting the locks in the future. So, the end result is that the problem got fixed in a timely manner and 808 Safe House ended up warrantying their work. It was just too bad it didn't happen in a more straightforward and congenial way. read more
