Larry and Cynda were able to help us out with some aging screens and screen doors we had. We live in Kihei so they were just right around the corner for us. They responded quickly, within 24 hours...and were able to come on site to view the job within 48 and begin the process of repairs. They typically bring rescreens back to their home base which is downstairs from Cavalry Chapel on Ohukai Rd. New screens they would obviously construct and bring them in to swap out what you currently have. In either case, expect the first visit to be an assessment of work and measurements of screens. Second and final visit would be installations...next day is a fair time to expect the second visit. The current price for new screens is $55 per my receipt and the current price for rescreens (existing frame okay) is $25. I had a screen door that needed a few repairs including a rescreen but also new wheels and a new dog grill added. That ran me $180 installed . I mention these prices only because I was just told it's "typically $60 per screen"...though I was told by Larry the dog grill wouldn't be cheap because they're not cheap at the hardware store in town. All this being said, Larry and Cynda were very good communicators via text and showed up when they said they would. They're flexible in terms of the payments they accept and they are highly professional. They also work fast! Larry is an honest tradesman and will tell you when you can save money by doing things yourself or buying things yourself. He will still give you the DIY advice! He's a good man. My only knock is they didn't give me a bid/invoice until after the work had begun...but they did prep me on the average price per screen. We are located in South Kihei. Maui Screens provides excellent service at a very reasonable price. We had a list of repairs and installation: new front dog proof screen door installation, fixed two sliding screen doors (replaced broken screens, fixed locks, added bottom dog proof barriers); replaced rollers on sliding class door; re-set large sliding glass door on proper track. Turns out, the whole project cost less than an install of a single front screen door from Home Depot. Larry came, assessed the situation, fixed the large glass door and took the two screen doors back to his shop to work on. Following day he installed/fixed the sliding doors in a jiffy but had to buy the front door later that day. Following day he finished the installation and did some minor tuning. He only left when we were completely satisfied. Larry is quick and a perfectionist. He only does the best job possible. His wife Cynda is his scheduler/helper/receptionist/handler who is delightful and super friendly. They make a great team and will do you right if you need their help with projects large and small. We Called and left a message. Hours later a lady calls me and asks if she'd spoken to me already that day (No). Able to get an appointment right away though. Larry assessed our property and discussed what needed to be done, but it felt rushed. Our old screens were already out because the window washer was there. He grabbed the old ones and said he'd be replacing everything. The next day I received a call from a women, and quoted me a price for 16 windows, but I only have 12. When I corrected her, she said she would send me a detailed bill for each screen size. I received the email which was priced per screen by size, but her bill still charged for 16 screens. So, my husband decided to call. He also said, we only have 12 windows/screens, why are they charging us for 16?? She said she would send out another bill, but it was going to be the same price I don't understand. We decided it wasn't worth the headache and asked them to return old screens and never heard back from them. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

Larry and his wife were very receptive to what our needs were. They replaced all the roller wheels on the four heavy sliding glass doors we have and they glide like brand new. They came out to put a new screen for my slider. Very nice until I told them the frame was not done right on the corner and there was already a small dent in the frame by the screen. For $275 I want it right & looking new when they first put it in. After adjusting it and banging away at it, he put it back in & I suggested maybe he take it back to his shop & fix it to make it right. He insisted on fixing it on the spot. Well now it would not slide right after all the banging he did on it & when my husband tried to roll it open, it would stick. Maybe bent from all the banging on it? I told them it wasn't right still & they insisted it was fine. I know this is HI but quality & service should still be a priority. They took the door out & I said maybe they could try a different door & they said forget it & huffed off. Poor customer service. read more

Larry and Cynda came to our home in Kula to replace 11 kitchen screens they arrived right on time for our appointment , made some really good suggestions , took the measurements and advised that they would be back in a few days with the replacements.........sure enough , right on schedule , Larry was back with 11 perfect fitting screens, and we are very happy with the results and prices and the professional way that this replacement was handled. Anyone who lives on Maui knows that more than often when trying to have anything repaired or replaced can be very challenging as their are a lot of "repair people" that either do not call back, or do not show up when they say they will , or the final price is a surprise.....more than quoted ! Not these folks , no surprises , everything as agreed. I'm a "bottom line guy" who has lived here for over 50 years , people like Larry & Cynda and Maui Screens are the real deal , I not only recommend them , I will use their services again . I had lots of problems with these folks. When calling to make an appointment they had no problem coming out.. They began installation of my door and then left for 5 days without it being completed. Finally after several phone calls they came back to finish the door.. But then it still wasn't finished. There was a huge gap under my screen. They said they would come out and install a piece. 2 weeks later they showed up. Left the piece at my door . I called them and asked them if they were going to come put it on and finally a few days later they came by.. What a fiasco. They charged $650.00 for a security screen door and a lock. 3 months later, my the latch on my lock stops working. I do what I can wd40 it to see if it will fix it.. But by 5 months later I am frustrated. I call them. They told me it is probably and easy fix they would be out later that day to fix it. 1 week later still they have not come.. I speak to the owner who guarantees me she will be out that day to fix it. Again a no show. So at this point I am extremely frustrated. I have a very active toddler and having a door that does not work properly that I spent so much money on is not okay.. I called her a 3rd time.. And the owner immediately says that they will not come out and fix it without charging me $90.00 for a new lock. I proceeded to explain everything to her again and she told me locks had to warranty and neither did the door.. Then she called me Stupid. I let her know that I would be contacting the BBB and possibly small claims court unless this was resolved. And she said she would not come out and do any business with us. I was appalled. What kind of company is this. They are not registered with the BBB.. I am hoping someone reads this before you use them. They are a horrible company and if either of the owners were my employees. I would have fired them . NOT A GOOD PRACTICE. Especially on an island. read more

Rude and unreliable!! This company promised on three separate occasions that they would come to rescreen my doors. Each time they "got busy". On Monday they said they would come Tuesday. On Tuesday they said they were just coming to look at my job, they would be back at the end of the day. On Tuesday evening when they didn't come back I called and they said they would come the next morning. I asked if I could be the first job and their response was "I don't know - the phone keeps ringing". They couldn't even give me an appointment. They said they would come by 11 on Wed. At 11 on Wed I called and they said they would come in "about an hour". I asked how I could be sure they would actually come, and they said, "you know what, we're just not going to come at all". If they were too busy, why couldn't they just say so at the beginning and give me the chance to find another company???? I did find another company. They came right away and did the job on the spot. No rudeness. Maui Screen made me feel like they were doing me a favor by taking my business. They lack professionalism and manners. read more

I've almost had to take a crowbar to my slider to get it open and since our condo's have one of the largest sliders on the island it was a struggle every day. Larry not only fixed my slider but he took a screen that I thought I would have to throw away and made it brand new. It glides with just a touch of my finger... AND it stays on the track.
