Upon reviewing all of our excursions in Maui, my husband and I both agreed 808 mopeds was a great choice that brought many unexpected laughs and pure simple joy. Anne and Madison were both very helpful. We were first time moped riders so the fact that they walked us through all the safety precautions and how to work everything on the vehicle have us peace of mind as we zoomed off on our mopeds to experience another great Hawaiian adventure!!

Tanner and crew kicked ass! We had two days on these 30 MPH 50CC skootz. The lower speed and power allowed for some chill sight seeing. They "asked" that we don't skoot past Marker 38... e.e more adventure than we could have ever imagined. You must give these skootz a rev and be sure to talk to the sales crew as they are knowledgeable and genuinely care about their craft. Just rent these for the entirety of your trip. Hell yeah!

10/10 recommend this place! The check in/waiver process was so quick and easy, we were given a basic how-to ride a moped and then sent on our way. I was very nervous at first but quickly got the hang of it. We had an absolute blast exploring Maui on these. I've been coming to Maui for years and tried so many activities, and this was by far my favorite thing I've ever done on the island. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Maui!

We came to Maui on vacation for the first time this year and can say without a doubt these mopeds were our favorite memory. A group of us rented mopeds and made our way up to the blowhole and stopped for lunch on the way home. It was absolutely beautiful and was so fun to drive them and feel safe the whole time. The folks that helped us out were super friendly and gave us all the info we needed to have the perfect day. To rent a moped, all you need is a valid drivers license. They will provide you with everything else you may need! It was my first time riding one, and I found it to be super easy to learn and feel comfortable quickly. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to take their vacation to the next level!

This place is busy and now I know why. Friendliest staff and the best scotters around. They may not have the most scooters but the ones they do have are trouble free and feel absolutely perfect and safe. It was a little difficult to get through but once I did, Melissa was able to make the rental window fit. If you do not have much two wheel experience they can give a quick tutorial and make even a beginner into a seasoned rider in a matter of minutes. For the riders with an motorcycle endorsement, like myself, they have larger scooters available also. The 50cc bikes are limited to the West side of the area. The 200 and 300 cc bikes can travel all over and can accommodate two people. With the efficient and friendly staff, great bikes and comcieient location makes this place the place to get your scooter rental.

Let me start with this: Monica is the BEST and SWEETEST person ever. From our first entrance into the store to our goodbyes, Monica always greeted us with a warm smile, genuine wave, and thoughtful service. She has such a servant heart. TL;DR - do yourself a favor on your trip and go with 808 rides. They also have the best prices we could find in our online research so that's a definite added plus!!! In planning our trip, my husband and I really wanted to ride something other than a car throughout our time in Maui. We knew that the next time we came to Maui would be with our young kids and so we wanted to enjoy the things we probably wouldn't be able to do with them here. We made the reservation for our mopeds & were scheduled to pick them up the morning after we landed at 8am. We arrived at 8am and were warmly greeted by Monica and Joe. After signing the forms & getting our helmets, we went out to the mopeds. Long story short, I crashed twice on the moped - 100% my fault. (My husband did great riding it so it had nothing to do with our training.) Needless to say, we didn't go with the mopeds. The thing I want to highlight about the whole situation is that Monica was extremely understanding, compassionate and caring. I got some bad bruising and road rash and she quickly made sure I was okay, got the first aid kit, and was so nurturing amidst me being shaken up. Joe also was very caring and was able to pass along some timely experiential wisdom. Monica offered us to replace the mopeds with the golf cart. I was hesitant since being scared of getting in/on anything with wheels but it ended up being the coolest and most fun experience ever (obviously my husband drove the whole trip). Driving around in the golf cart (especially with the pouring rain that flooded the streets) made our trip so memorable. All this to say, this was one of the best and most memorable trips - 808 rides was a great company to work with, and Monica is the best

We rented a large and small ebike. The small one slipped between gears so my wife just used the power assist. It ran out of juice a long way from the shop. We called and the shop said we just needed to pedal back. My wife and I swapped bikes but the larger bike got a flat. When we called in the flat, they came and picked us and the bikes up. The large bike was worth it but the shorter one wasn't since it ran out. Maybe just get a moped if you don't want to pedal. It was fun and we went a long ways with plenty of hills. The shop did a great job taking care of the flat. I'm not sure if we could have pedaled back. read more

Stopped by to check out the new electric bikes, it was closing time, but the great staff unlocked the storage room and hooked us up with 2 Bintelli electric fat tire bikes, we rode them everywhere and kept them a second day because if how much fun we had. I recommend them highly and will return. read more

Friendly and attentive service. With rental car agencies gouging for $200 per day this moped was economical and a fun adventure. Took it from Ka'anapali all the way to Kihei and Waimea. So versatile anywhere you go ... easy parking. Bike was well maintained with new tires. Will rent again on our next visit! read more

We had a party of six and had such a great experience! We got there on a Friday but unfortunately they sold out for the day. So we reserved for the following day, had to wait around an hour when we arrived but due to the popularity of the location we understood. Major shout out to Chris who helped my friend feel completely confident and stayed an extra 40min during the training session. Recommended to have closed toed shoes, must wear sunglasses and bring driver's license. Joe, the owner, is super accommodating and safety is his priority so for those who are a little nervous, have no worries!! read more

Rented with a group of 7, so 7 scooters rented out, a real biker gang!! Had an awesome time and felt price was reasonable and service and entire transaction was excellent !!! From check-out to check-in everything went very smoothly. Vehicles operated without a fault. We had 2 "newbies@ to scooter riding along and they got special instruction before sendoff to make sure they understood controls and operation of vehicles. Awesome way to travel around Lahaina area and up to blowhole, you see and experience the island in a whole different way on a scooter!! Especially recommend riding Pineapple hill in Kapalua, and parking at beaches is literally ANYWHERE!! Awesome time, highly recommend! read more

Talk about awesome! This was the most fun I have ever had on a bike! We rented two mopeds for 24 hours. Pricing was so unbelievably affordable I was almost upset we didn't know about them on day 1 of our trip. The staff are so personable and friendly: Michelle was our rental agent and of course she was superb ! Thanks lady! My brother and I was able to ride out through The beautiful Maui island with full securement. They offer insurance deals to put your mind at ease, and if you have no experience like my brother, no worries, they equip you with the do's and don't s and ensure you are confortable and confident before they set you on your way. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!! My fiancé and I paid for a 24 hour rental. About an hour after getting our mopeds, there was a huge storm in Maui. The power went out on the entire west side of the island from the wind/rain and the wind was so bad that it started fires. The moped company DID NOT give us a refund, even though we were NOT able to ride the moped for more than an hour. Further, we got caught in the rain storm and had to wait over an hour for the company to come and get the moped since the roads were not drivable. Gill was fantastic! He was polite and came and picked up the moped. The owner of the company, however, was awful! He told us the rain would clear up by 2 and we would get to ride the moped for the remainder of the night. The rain did not end until after midnight. We did not even get to use the moped. Further, the website said that they will give a refund if the conditions outside are not drivable. That is a lie. They still will not refund you! Renting a moped is a blast!! I would just NEVER USE 808 MOPEDS again! There are several other companies! Use one of them!! :) read more

Fantastic way to experience the island! We recently rented two mopeds from 808 Mopeds and couldn't be happy that we did. Michelle worked with us to explain what streets we would be comfortable riding on, what stops we should make and the different insurance / gas packages available. This is my first time visiting the island of Maui. My boyfriend and I decided that we wanted to rent mopeds so could cruise around the island on our own. We did some searching on Yelp and discovered that 808 Mopeds was close by our hotel. We also found that it had a lot of good reviews, so we decided to give it a shot. This shop is great for a first time rider. The friendly staff made sure that I felt comfortable before having me take off on my own. We were able to take the scooters up to Nakalele Point and see the blowhole. The ride up was awesome and the views were amazing! Would definitely rent scooters from 808 Mopeds again! read more

My girlfriend and I passed 808 Mopeds while going to grab groceries and decided to check it out as we needed some easy transportation throughout Kihei and Wailea. It turned out to be the best decision we could have made. Riding on the mopeds was easy and so much fun. There is nothing like riding through the streets and becoming immersed in the scenery, feeling the sunshine and smelling the fresh air of Maui. We immediately took our scooters down to Makena Landing where we had a snorkeling tour and the scooters made the trip incredibly convenient. Riding around to grab food and head to the beaches was a breeze and all the more enticing with these scooters. My girlfriend and I got a scooter each, however, you can ride tandem on one if you have a motorcycle license. Parking is also simple and easy. You also probably won't need a parking permit for these if you choose to stay at a place with a public garage. Besides mopeds, 808 Mopeds also offers stand up scooters and e-bikes. Just as wonderful as the mopeds is the owner, Monica. Monica is so sweet and welcoming and genuinely cares for you and wants you to have the best time imaginable. She was sure to teach us everything to know about riding the scooters safely and was so thorough that we were confident taking off all the way down to Makena on our first trip. Love this little rental shop. It caters to your newbies with the 50cc scooters and your regular riders with their 300cc models. I am usually on a motorcycle, but scooters are the way to go in Maui, gas and breaks, hair in the wind, going from one beach to another or checking out the local fare. Definitely recommend this shop, friendly, and easy going. read more

This was the second time I rented form 808. Awesome way to see Maui! The staff have always been courteous and helpful. Also, nice they don't ask you to top off the tank on return. Great fun getting around the island. I rented the 200cc which is permitted to go further around the island than the 50cc. But, you must have a MC license for that size... Great fun! read more

I went to this place the other day with my best friend just to try out the mopeds while we were on vacation. We went to the place in Lahaina right by time marketplace and near all the hotels. We decided to get just the 24 hour rental and Ann was so thoughtful and so sweet to us, taught us everything we needed to know since it was our first time riding them. She showed us where to practice before we did end up going on the highway and also gave us a map to show us where we can't go. She also told us to be extra careful since it was pretty windy that day. I suggest when renting these mopeds to pay for the 25$ insurance just in case you do fall and damage the rental it won't be as expensive then if you didn't have insurance. It was so much fun a little scary and i did end up falling on highway 30 and got all scratched up. Luckily nothing was broken and Ann is also road assistance we called her and she came straight away. I was terrified that i damage the moped but it was only a little scratched up and the mirror was broke along with the right hand turning signal but just the plastic. She asked if i wanted to ride still knowing in my condition and she fixed it right then and there. We pulled in to the nearest exit and talked about the damages which let me tell you not expensive at all! I was very lucky i didn't have to pay as much as i did and she made sure me and my friend were okay before heading off. She even mentioned areas that we can shop at that were close to us. I decided to ride it for the rest of the day and turned it in the next day. She was just so nice and i was so appreciated of her. I really suggest you try this place if you do end up going on vacation in Maui. Just be safe and if it is your first time trying these mopeds i advise to keep the helmet on! If i do end up coming to Maui again and I'm in this area i will be trying the moped again! read more

808 Mopeds were absolutely terrific, this was my wife's first experience with a moped, and this was her idea, so I was looking forward to scooting around the West side of Maui mostly along the Lower Honoapiilani Road, and maybe all the way past Hononana Bay and up to Mokolea Point Blowhole. 808 Mopeds set us up with mopeds and helmets, gave us a class on how to use and secure the mopeds, and suggested that we take them down to their practice track. After more than an hour on the practice track (really a parking lot but it was perfect), my wife was thinking she made a mistake and she was not really ready to operate a moped. One of their employees came down and offered my wife some personalized instruction, and my wife spend some more time trying, but then decided she just did not feel comfortable enough to take the moped into traffic. As we had a one to five hour rental, I assumed we had paid for the activity even if we turned the scooters in early. The 808 Moped team insisted on giving us 100% refunds and that just did not seem right to me, so they agreed to charge us $10 each for the lessons. I thought they were super fantastic, and their focus was really on us having fun and being safe. They made us feel that they cared about us, and I want everyone to know that they are the best. read more

So glad we decided to rent mopeds on our last full day on the island. This was my first time riding and, as others have said, Joe was very concerned about my safety. He was patient, gave me a thorough lesson, and took the time to make sure I was comfortable before we took off for the blowhole. I was very glad he did because it eased my nerves and allowed me to enjoy the ride. It was so much fun and the views were amazing! One tip, they close at 4:00 and we showed up at 1:00 thinking we'd just ride around for a few hours. But Joe explained that, by the time we got done with our lesson, we wouldn't have much time and he was concerned about the risk of us hurrying to get back in time. We agreed and decided to pay a little extra to rent for 24 hours. We're so glad we did because we had time to take a more leisurely ride, stop and enjoy the views, then ride to dinner in Lahaina. If you plan to ride for the day, get there early. Otherwise, a 24 hour rental is a great deal. Looking forward to renting again the next time we're on the island! read more

At first, I was telling Sharon how I was thinking of renting a regular bicycle to explore the island. But, thank God I discovered 808 Rides. I would've been so tired cycling everywhere! Sharon and Nate were fantastic! Very nice and helpful people. Renting out a moped is probably the best way to go if you're going on a solo adventure around the island. It was awesome because the moped shop was only a 5min walk from where I was staying. I rented out a beginner moped since I had no experience, which was fine with me because the style was cuter for pictures! Driving along the highway wasn't too scary for me, but it may be scary for others. As long as you wear a helmet and you're careful, you should be fine! The price wasn't too bad either for a 24hr rental. Definitely worth the trip! I would definitely recommend renting a moped from 808 Rides! It was my first time ever riding a moped, so this was definitely an unforgettable experience. I hope 808 Rides expand its business to different parts of Maui in the future :-) read more

I highly recommend this place! I was randomly walking by this place on December 31st and wanted a rental for the day. I talked to Joe and he said they were booked for the day but had availability for the next day on the 1st which I took. We were casually discussing our New Years plans, and I told him that my girlfriend and I were going to Ritz. He recommended that I call the Ritz because they often change their plans on New Years and cater to guests only, which I was not. So I did call the Ritz and he was absolutely right. Turns out I talked to the manager and got everything straightened out, but I would have been screwed if not for that advice. We had a great New Years and went to go ride mopeds the next day. I have plenty of experience on mopeds but my girlfriend had never ridden before. So Joe took an hour of his time teaching her how to ride on a safe street so she could get the hang of it. He was very patient and my lady was jammin after that. The ride up the coast was fantastic and shouldn't be missed! read more

We were surprised at how cheap it is to rent a moped for 24 hours. The price was great, learning was easy, and we liked how they gave us suggestions on where to go. The first thing we did after we felt comfortable on them was ride to the blow hole. The ride was not scary, but there is many sharp turns up there and cars can get very close behind you even if you're going the speed limit. My best advice - pull into the turnouts and let the cars behind you pass.... it'll make the whole ride more enjoyable. Only thing I will say that we did not enjoy, they said we could ride in the bike lane on the highway and it would be perfectly safe and everyone does it. Yes, it was our decision but it was very scary with cars zooming past you at 60 and not safe and I would not recommend riding on the highway shoulder. Sometimes you have to just for a minute because the roads end, but do not try to take any long rides on the side of the highway. You could get really really hurt. Other than that, we loved the mopeds! read more

I was on the fence about renting mopeds because I was over planning and short on time. We ended up deciding to do it and went with 808 mopeds because it has a ton of good reviews. Definitely made the right decision. It was my first time riding a moped and Darren was very helpful and patient in explaining how to ride it. Luckily I ended up getting the hang of it very quickly. My husband and I rented them for 24 hours and rode them to Nakalele point, which I ABSOLUTELY recommend. The road there is BREATH TAKING. The helmets had go pro mounts so I managed to get some gorgeous footage of the ride. We also rode them to Lahaina town for shaved ice and that was a nice drive. The price imo was reasonable. Fees and damage waivers put put us a little higher then we budgeted. The company was trustworthy. Just make sure you examine your moped for damages no matter how minor, before your rental and you'll be fine. Definitely recommend this company and ABSOLUTELY recommend renting mopeds in Maui. read more

I've been to Maui about a dozen times, but have never rented mopeds here...until today. I saw them setting up the mopeds outside while in a run a few days ago, so stopped to check it out. I am so glad I did! My son is 17, and was able to ride solo with a valid driver's license on a moped rented under my wife's name. (He has never driven a moped - I've rented one twice in Bermuda). We arrived 30 minutes early for training. They did a great job and my son was ready to go after only 5 minutes of practicing in a nearby cul-de-sac. We rented for the day and put about 50 miles on them...went down to Lahaina for brunch and back up to the blowhole. Fantastic time. Highly recommended. So fun to be able to stop along the side of the road at the small stands - and parking is a snap on mopeds. I will definitely return to 808 and do this again when I return to Maui. read more

called Mark at 808 mopeds the day before our group was leaving Maui to arrange a rental of 8 scooters. I wasn't expecting to actually find that many at one time but to my surprise he made it work. also had another person wanting to join us so i called him back the morning of to see if i could book an extra scooter. They had none left but he made a call and actually went and brought another one down so we could all ride together. we wanted to keep them until 6 or 7 pm that night as we were on the red eye flight. even though the place closed at 2 Mark gave me his personal cell number and told me to text him ten minutes before we were ready to drop them off and he would meet us at the shop to check us all in.The best customer service I have ever got by a company. Don't rent scooters from any other place in Maui. best prices, best people. read more

This place is legit. Super friendly and thorough staff. Super fair prices. Got a moped cuz I have no motorcycle license.. not really a moped. More just a low power scooter (mopeds have pedals and a small motor). But it got up to 35-40 mph on the highway shoulder which is legally where you have to drive it on the highway.. (would not recommend taking it on the highway at all, it's sketchy AF haha) I got the add-on's (insurance, AAA, gas coverage) cause I'd rather have it and not need it than need it than not have it.. it was like $15. No big deal Drove all up and down the east side for a total of 12 hours on a 24 hour rental and it barely used any gas! Really fun to just cruise and see the sights at day or explore around the endless resorts at night with all the lights and secret roads. It was a blast and they were great! read more

This was the 2nd time I've been to Maui. Great times and beautiful scenery. I went with my family so transportation was up to me, so I decided to get a moped. Rented in 2013 and again 5 years later, both times the staff were very helpful and even gave some great spots to check out. I am not a beginner driver when it comes to a moped but on the trip in 2018. My Aunt decided to rent one as well and she is not as skilled of a driver as me. None the less the staff at 808 helped her learn how to operate it and really were helpful. If or when I ever decide to go back to Maui, if I'm going to rent a moped, motorcycle or the spider. I am definitely going to go back to 808 mopeds. Great customer service, very clean and upkept machines, very knowledgeable staff. 808 Mopeds is a great place to rent from. read more

My husband and I rented two of the Wolf Cafe Racer 150cc motorcycles for 7 days and we had the best experience! The staff at 808 are amazing with excellent customer service and great information. The bikes were some of the most fun we had on our vacation. We took the bikes everywhere, we even took them on the road to Hana! If you ride motorcycles, renting these little cafe racers is the way to go. My husband and I both ride Buell sportbikes and Harley's back home in California, so we were a little concerned about riding little 150cc bikes, but we honestly had the best time on these bikes. You really do not need anything bigger than these bikes to get around on Maui. We will definitely be renting from 808 Mopeds again when we return! Thanks for helping to make our vacation awesome! We had a great time, by far the best way too explore West Maui and all its gems. If you're on the fence of deciding whether or not you should rent, you should. Parking is easier on the mountain side, getting around town is easier, and gas is much cheaper. We wished we had rented it for more days and earlier in our 6 day trip. We were checked in by Adam, which was informative and stressed strongly of safety. He was very thorough about the rules of the road and the features on the moped. He was also very attentive. We were checked out by Joe. Equally friendly and made check out earlier than self checkout at a grocery store. Both dudes were down to earth and passionate at what they do. Don't believe Jessica and her 1 star rating. Nothing sketchy about 808 Mopeds. Legit small business with big heart. read more

My husband and I rented mopeds for the week of our honeymoon and it was the coolest thing we ever did. The owner and the employees were SO helpful and nice. They taught me how to ride and made sure we felt comfortable before sending us off. They gave us great prices and upgraded us to better mopeds midway into our stay. One of the employees offered to take us cliff diving on his day off and the owner gave us chocolate banana bread on our last day. Just two small examples of how welcome they made us feel. If you are thinking about renting mopeds, please do it. I was scared to at first, but it was so fun. We spent like 2 dollars on gas the entire week and got an awesome tan just driving around! Wear sunscreen though. We both got burnt the first day. And rent from 808 Mopeds for sure! read more

Everyone was friendly and professional. The mopeds were in great working condition and we had the best time. The training session was very helpful as myself and my daughter were fairly nervous and my daughter had a minor panic which nearly resulted in her not deciding to ride that day, but Kelsey was patient with her and super encouraging and our daughter loved riding once she got through the anxiety. We had no troubles except my husband locking his keys in his seat. Seems like it would never happen, but we recommend buying at least the lesser insurance which covers road side assistance when such a thing happens. We were all the way to the Blow Hole and they drove up and brought a spare key within 20 minutes to get us back on the road. Thanks for the fun rides! read more

By far best experience you have to rent moped's and I mean it's the best thing we did on our trip we rented mopeds and road around the city it was very fun driving into places you wouldn't take your car we first rented the slingshot that was a ton of fun but we wanted to drive into more places and get around the tighter places and did I mention the girls in the office were the most amazing people they told us about some spots that we had to check out they were very friendly and told us about the cool spots and they even had a lesson on how to ride if you never rode a moped it made my wife fell very comfortable since she's never been on 2 wheels they were awesome to take the time to teach her how to ride you have to check them out great place to stop at read more

My girlfriend and I rented a 300cc scooter from 808 for 2 days over the 2019 winter holidays. The experience couldn't have been better! All the folks at 808 were great to work with from making a reservation until checking back in after our ride. The scooter was in excellent shape and drove very well. 808 provides helmets for each rider and a heavy duty lock for the bike. They give you a brief rundown on how it functions as well as a safety briefing. FYI- bring your own eye protection for night and day. The state of Hawaii requires them at all times. We both agree that this was one of the most fun things we did on our holiday! Cruising up and down the Lahaina coast on Christmas Day was a super memory for the 2 of us! We were hesitating all week about hiring mopeds after walking up and down Kihei for miles and miles. We finally decided to hire them "just for the day" we said. 3 days of hiring later and we saw more of the area then we would have walking. Joseph, Ann and Monica were super helpful! I had never ridden a moped, scooter or motorbike before and Ann went through it all with me and let me drive around the back carpark until I felt controlled and confident enough to take on a road! We loved it so much we referred all of our friends that we were travelling with and had 24hrs of our "super cool scooter gang". If you're hesitant like we were, stop hesitating! 808 Mopeds was definitely one of the hi-lights of our two weeks in Maui! Joe and the entire staff were friendly and super cool. My husband and I rented a couple of two stroke mopeds and we were back and forth up and down the coastline everyday. The bikes were well maintained and we had no problems. One day we were at the gas station and Joe saw us struggling to open the gas tanks and he ran over from the shop and assisted us. . . in addition to teasing us about not being able to do it on our own (LOL). We totally recommend adding these little cursers to your itinerary! If you rent for multiple days, you get discounts. . . make a reservation to make sure you can get yours when you want it. I recommend the pink or the green! read more
