I had a 1 on 1 outdoor training session with Rex where I gained an incredible amount of practical info and hands-on experience as a new gun owner and shooter. The day started with showing up to his house for a one on one class portion where he reviewed all the legal aspects of having a ccw and looked over the firearms I brought to make sure it is a right fit for me. I couldn't say enough great things about Rex and his instruction. I was a golf instructor for 15 years and he was clear, hands on, attentive to what I needed to work on. I trained with Rex today for my CCW training. Rex has an ability to gain your trust and train you almost instantly. He's a consummate professional, having spent over 40 years in Law Enforcement. A friend of mine and I renewed our CCW certification over the weekend. Rex was thorough, personable and comprehensive in his training. We enjoyed our time at the range. Being able to shoot outdoors was a huge advantage over the typical indoor ranges you find when you use other trainers. After certifying, we practiced some additional drills such as engaging multiple targets, speed drills, movement drills, etc. You just can't do that in an indoor range. If you are looking into getting a CCW or to hone your basic skills with your firearm, I absolutely could not recommend anyone better to do it with then Rex Jones. Rex answered every question i had during the class perfectly and always cleared any confusion I had about anything. He is extremely good with setting you up and working around your schedule and will always call, email or send a text if you have any questions about the class. He does a fantastic job of making you feel comfortable from the moment you walk into his home, he helped find which style holster or belt I should use and had a ton of recommendations on makes and models I should look into.He'll help you find that perfect spot where your firearm should be holstered which transfers over to how well you shoot and how comfortable you feel on a day to day basis. I felt more confident shooting with Rex then I do at my local range and learned a lot in a short amount of time. With every round down range I could tell I was improving and with Rex by my side coaching me I couldn't believe how well I had improved in just a day. My shooting style is quite different due to my time in the infantry in the Marine Corps and Rex understood that, and instead of trying to force me to change into a new style (which I'm sure a lot of other instructors try to do) he helped improve my stance and how I held my firearm and made sure i felt confident with how I shot. I highly recommend going during the weekday as you go to a privately owned range where a lot of pro's go to shoot. Rex Jones is as good as they get and I highly recommend anyone to take his class. If you are looking to qualify for your ccw or seeking training look no further. I recently took Rex's course and could not be more satisfied. Informative, comfortable and fun! A world of knowledge and experience. Great conversation and videos. Clear and precise explanations and examples. Also covered the importance of having INSURANCE!! In addition, Rex showed me samples of different types of ammunition, results when fired into a gel block, and explained the result of each bullet when fired. Further explaining which ammunition is appropriate for what purpose. The qualifying portion of the course was as informative and eye opening as the class portion. Every aspect of the firearm is explained in detail. Great care to make sure there are no mistakes during training. Rex brings with him all the targets and markers to the range which clearly mark distances in which you need to qualify. My big tip is LISTEN and follow directions when he offers advice! I have done two classes with Rex, both times he has been spot on. He is always open and forthcoming with his information and is very communicative about what needs to be done for each class, permit, etc. Both classes were informative and fun to be a part of. When I was referred to Rex for a ccw renewal by a family member I thought his prices were too good to be true. The man invited me to his home to fill out paperwork and take the written test before hitting the range. Not only is he extremely knowledgably, he is caring, funny and like minded to us believers of the 2nd amendment and right to carry. His class is very personal, creative and fun. I learned more with him in the few hours we chatted and shot than I have with any other ccw instructors and company's in the past years. He is down to earth, tells you what is pertinent and isn't one of those tactical dorks that wastes your time in the classroom like other companies. Plus he is one of the only people I have used that was actually an LEO, with over 30 years experience in respectable departments and specialty assignments.
