Our boys at their Simi Valley location

Awesome experience! Spent the weekend with them and learned as much mentally as physically. Tactics training on Saturday and a day at the range on Sunday. We had 4 guys and they tailored the weekend to our desires. Limits were tested but we were always safe. Would love to explain the weekend but there was just to much excitement and variety to list it all. Saturday's fun at the Covered Six location involved tactical training, air soft fights, amazing simulations involving interaction, and just awesomeness. Sunday's fun at the range included glocks, rifles, shotguns, etc. Again, always felt safe while constantly being test. Long story short...YES! Call them, start an adventure. They will tailor anything to your needs then challenge you physically and mentally to make you stronger and more confident. (They also do work/school trainings, security, and workplace safety. My work's security and HR department will definitely be contacting them soon!)

Covered 6 is an outstanding organization, I recently graduated from their 5 week physical security academy, all the instructors are professionals. I recommend that anyone who is serious and want to make security, or law enforcement their career choice, reserve yourself a spot in their Academy. I'm a former Marine, I have to say this security academy is the greatest in this country. I believe Covered 6 is the only security academy that has a 200 hr of Security training, other Academy's are just your 40 hr. Guard Card courses. One slip up on them though, I was told that I was going to get a class in building a resume, and job placement, well I didn't. ;^\ Hey it's their first Academy, it'll get a lot better. Overall I still give them a big 5. Join the Academy Now!

Great time, great instructors. Wife and I had a blast with C6. I will be back soon for the advanced training.

Exceptional Training at United Defense Tactical in Thousand Oaks!…read more I recently completed a series of self-defense courses at UDT TO, and I can't recommend this place enough! What truly sets this location apart is their incredible team of instructors. Every one of them brings decades of combined experience, ensuring that you're learning from true experts. They don't just teach marksmanship--they prepare you for the unpredictability of actual threats. They focus on deescalation techniques. We practiced the OODA loop (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) in dynamic simulations that mimicked being followed, home invasions, or street encounters, which built confidence. The curriculum is progressive and tailored for all levels, with reality-based drills that go beyond static range shooting to sharpen mental focus, tactical movement, and decision-making under pressure. If you're serious about personal safety and want training that is realistic and practical, United Defense Tactical in Thousand Oaks is the gold standard. Five stars all the way--I'll be back for more advanced classes!

I had a two hour lesson with Coach Don and…read moreI'm really pleased with the amount of education and hands-on instruction I received in such a short amount of time. We spent the first hour of the lesson on classroom instruction. I learned the history of the most common hand guns used, why someone would prefer one type over another, the differences between single and double action, and how different handguns suit different individuals. Don made sure I felt confident handling the different types. By the time we entered the firing range, I had learned proper stance, range etiquette, how to load a magazine, and the importance of proper technique when racking the slide. But the most unexpected thing I learned was that my nervous system (as a first time shooter) would be taxed. He explained that my first shot would likely be my best shot because once I knew what to expect I would begin to anticipate and I would have a bit of a "fight or flight" response. I never would've expected that and so when it happened, I was well prepared. Even though most people know to expect the sound and the kickback of a weapon, you're not really prepared for it if you've never done it before. Sure enough, my hands got shaky, my breathing got shallow my heart rate raised, but he coached me on how to relax and breathe through it. I was pretty proud of how well I did and I really look forward to my next lesson!
