I had a two hour lesson with Coach Don and…read moreI'm really pleased with the amount of education and hands-on instruction I received in such a short amount of time. We spent the first hour of the lesson on classroom instruction. I learned the history of the most common hand guns used, why someone would prefer one type over another, the differences between single and double action, and how different handguns suit different individuals. Don made sure I felt confident handling the different types. By the time we entered the firing range, I had learned proper stance, range etiquette, how to load a magazine, and the importance of proper technique when racking the slide. But the most unexpected thing I learned was that my nervous system (as a first time shooter) would be taxed. He explained that my first shot would likely be my best shot because once I knew what to expect I would begin to anticipate and I would have a bit of a "fight or flight" response. I never would've expected that and so when it happened, I was well prepared. Even though most people know to expect the sound and the kickback of a weapon, you're not really prepared for it if you've never done it before. Sure enough, my hands got shaky, my breathing got shallow my heart rate raised, but he coached me on how to relax and breathe through it. I was pretty proud of how well I did and I really look forward to my next lesson!

I'm glad I listened to their suggestion as it's quickly become my favorite indoor range to practice at. They have a wide selection of firearms in the main shop and a decent selection of accessories for firearms, they're the only shop I've been to in the area with PDP mags on the shelves. They also have a good selection of firearms for rent on the firing lanes. Their staff are also very helpful and friendly. I've been there a few times and a younger guy named Sebastian has helped my newer friends improve their shooting with various tips about their grip and whatnot. I look forward to coming back regularly.

Rex is the real deal -- he is infinitely prepared (attitude, experience, skills, equipment, training aids, supplies, etc.) to work with any/all experience/skill levels of shooters. After a thoughtful discussion centered on my experience, objectives, and firearms, we spent three solid hours in practice drills and target shooting. Rex's positive energy and consistent, constructive feedback put me at ease right from the start. I left mentally and physically exhausted, and entirely exhilarated. I explained it was our first time at this particular range and they explained everything and showed me the map before taking us all to the private range we had reserved. Make sure you go over the driving directions when you leave, as we had no mobile phone service once we got deep onto the dirt road. Follow the signs and you'll get there eventually. I wouldn't drive there with a lowered vehicle or fancy sports car as there is about 1.5 miles of dirt road you have to drive on that's a bit bumpy. Just drive slowly. I didn't check the selection of rentals they had on offer as I have my own toys, but I have heard it is better than most. We got a private range on a Wednesday and it was incredibly cheap ($100 for 2 people all day, $40 each additional person). They bring out steel targets for you to use and then leave you alone to have fun. You can draw from holsters, rapid fire, do drills, etc. No 1-shot per second nonsense, Their public rifle range has steel targets out to 1000 yards so you can see how good your skills really are. Lots of fun steel targets to shoot. You can finally stretch out your rifle and those high dollar optics. For the first time I wished my 6-24x scope had more magnification. I wish this range were closer but it was only about 1 hour from the Pasadena area which isn't too bad at all for 1000 yard steel. I believe it may be the only range in the los Angeles area that has steel out to 1000, as Angeles Shooting Range is maximum 600. I am definitely going to return to this place again soon!

I regularly carry a Glock 43X MOS. I had previously swapped the factory polymer magazine release…read morefor a steel one so I could use Shield Arms 15-round magazines. Later I picked up Glock's OEM 15-round steel magazines, not realizing the steel magazine release doesn't play well with them. One of the OEM magazines got completely stuck in the mag well. I tried everything I could think of and still couldn't get it out. I contacted several local gunsmiths, but none could take care of it in a reasonable timeframe or seemed confident they could free the magazine without damaging the gun. An employee at a gun store I frequent recommended Greta's. I had never even heard of the place before. I called, and Dave told me to come in and they would take care of me. When I arrived I found a great store with an impressive inventory. Dave and Danny not only extracted the stuck magazine, they also swapped the steel magazine release back to the polymer one I brought with me. They refused any payment even though I was more than happy to pay. They did me a huge favor -- I have to qualify with this pistol in just a few days. I'm extremely grateful. They failed to verify the serial number before transfer which is a fundamental requirement under federal law for proper firearm disposition. This is not a clerical error. It is a breakdown in mandatory record‑keeping and transfer procedures, the very safeguards designed to prevent misidentification, theft, and unlawful possession. Confusing two serialized firearms of different calibers underscores a serious lapse in inventory control. Any FFL that mishandles serialized inventory in this way is demonstrating a dangerous disregard for regulatory obligations. I strongly advise others to consider the legal risks before doing business here.

I had already planned everything around it--my schedule, my budget, even housing--and now I feel totally stuck. I spent a lot of time and money expecting to complete the full training, and it honestly feels like a waste. The program itself was okay, but I didn't get the sense that the instructors took safety or professionalism as seriously as they should. There were moments that felt more like messing around than real training. It's frustrating because I was hoping to start a new career, and now I'm left with half a program and no clear next step. I expected more from a school that talks such a big game.
