Lobster bisque
Ashley R.

Stopped by with friends for happy hour! I usually avoid dining in Clayton due to parking, but I parked in the garage right next door (by the bank coming from City Hall), and the restaurant validates parking, making it completely free! The ambiance is beautiful--loved the wine display behind the bar. We got apps and drinks, and everything was fantastic (hands down one of the best sangrias I've ever had!). The lobster bisque was delicious as well, though a few extra chunks of lobster instead of just one lump would make it perfect. What really earned this 5-star review was the service. We had a tiny hiccup, but the manager instantly stepped in and made it right without hesitation. The bartender and entire team were incredible. Delicious food, amazing staff, great atmosphere, and free parking--I'll definitely be back!

When you are in St. Louis, you have to go here. Dress nicely. I started with a chocolate martini, and he started with a scotch. Next up, he got the lobster bisque and I got half a dozen east coast oysters on the half shell. Next up, tuna target are for me, and the special shrimp for him. No dessert because we were full. If you see me there, stop by and say hello.

If you're looking for a beautifully decorated restaurant with staff who go above and beyond look no further than 801 Fish. The restaurant is beautiful and classy and every interaction we had with any staff member was wonderful. The food: My husband loved the hush puppies (I'm not big on hush puppies, but I thought they were okay. The honey butter was delicious though) We ordered the spiced carrots, which I was really excited about, but they were unfortunately under cooked. So kind of a disappointment there. I had the calamari as a starter, and they were hands down the best I've had. 10/10 on the batter, the cook, and the flavors. The Chilean seabass was good, but could have used more seasoning. My husband ordered a steak without realizing it would be charbroiled and he wasn't a fan. The cook was good, however, he's just never a fan of charbroiled steak.

I've been here before, but its been a really long time. The restaurant has $12 valet parking in front, which is the easiest way to park. The decor inside is beautiful- hanging glass fish, blue/sea colors, etc. However, I did notice the floor by our table was very sticky- so much so that whenever anyone walked by you could hear it. It just needed to be cleaned. We had reservations and were celebrating 2 Birthdays. They handed us menus that said Happy Birthday at the top, which was a really nice touch. It wasn't crowded, but started to get busier closer to 8pm. Our server was really great- helpful and checked back in regularly. For appetizers we got calamari, crab dip, beet salad and shrimp cocktail. Everything was really fresh and flavorful. The calamari had a soy sauce and almost like a tartar sauce paired with it - it was spicy with the peppers- and very unique. The crab dip could have used more crab but it was really good. The beet salad could have used more cheese spread at the bottom but also great. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and the cocktail sauce was slightly spicy. We enjoyed sharing all this! For entrees I got the Filet with fingerling potatoes and green beans. It had a peppercorn sauce which was fantastic. The steak was cooked perfect and had great char. I wish they gave more sides for the price I probably got 4 small potatoes total cut in half. We also got hush puppies for the table which was my least favorite thing sadly. They were dry and not seasoned. They came with a honey butter that didn't give it much flavor. The grilled broccolini was great!! The other dishes ordered were the Sea bass, Salmon, and A Special Fish dish. All were great. At the end each birthday person was able to pick out their own dessert for free which was really nice. We had the bread pudding there and a tiramisu to go. The caramel sauce was fantastic! I would come back here again to try more things- Overall experience 4.5/5

Because nothing says "I crushed 18 holes" like crushing an entire seafood restaurant afterward. It's #stlouispescatarianapproved, which obviously means: one of everything, please and thank you. Oysters were Slurped. Crab cakes were gone in sixty seconds. Lobster Mac was attacked. And the sea bass didn't stand a chance either. Oh, and I got fries for dessert. These girls came to eat, not to putt. If you're not leaving 801 Fish full, happy, and slightly smug about your taste in food, you're doing it wrong. Shenanigans on.

My husband took me here for my birthday and it was great! Very personalized service, great atmosphere and a very nice dining room. But I had not gotten my dinner yet but oh boy, when I did it was fabulous! I was served the Chilean Sea Bass with Miso glaze, Kimchi, Bok Choi & Shiitake mushrooms--it was fantastic! Perfectly cooked, and paired with veggies that heightened each bite of the fish that you took. One of the best tasting and most uniquely prepared meals that I have had in a while. My husband had the whole-fried Branzino which was also amazing. For my birthday, I was given six freshly-baked chocolate chunk cookies to take with me and I loved each and every bite. I cannot wait to return for another outstanding dinner--we'll be back soon.

Family and I went here for graduation dinner. We ordered around 36 oysters (not all pictured) - there were plenty of varieties to try! - lobster and steak were perfectly cooked. -clam linguine was soooooo good and creamy. -mussels were very good and is a must try! - pistachio tiramisu with the dark chocolate melts in your mouth. - the vanilla bean cheese cake was soft with a hint of tartness The ambiance was beautiful and a perfect place to celebrate/ have a high end date night. Service - the team was so professional and knew their menu so well. It was very clear that the team understood their menu and food profile to make appropriate recommendations

The restaurant is done up with modern touches and a coastal theme It lets you know it's going to be pricey but doesn't guarantee its worth it. Our cocktails, with fun, ocean themed names, were decent. My beet salad was sized for multiple diners but the white beets had an odd taste. Despite thoroughly reading menu, choosing an entree that did not list any gluten items, the waiter writing gluten free on my order, my entree came on a bed of couscous. They remade it but it delayed our overall dinner. One of my dining companions ordered the linguini and clams only to be told they were out of clams. AND linguini. He changed to a Chilean sea bass that came on a bed of rather unappetizing bed of spinach. He was disappointed; it's just fish, nothing special. My side of Brussels sprouts were the best thing of my meal. Everything had nuts. not all dishes list the nuts the apply with such a heavy hand. If you're allergic to nuts, or any food allergies, beware. After sitting awhile, we were asked if we wanted to take the rest of our dinners home; we did. They clear our plates only to come back a few minutes later to say they had thrown out my remaining half entree of scallops. Offered to remake a half order or a gift card. I took the gift card bc we were tired of sitting there. I'm not sure I'll use the gift card unless it's for a cocktail and the brussel sprouts...but parking is terrible so I'm not sure when I'll be inclined.

We went there as my selection for birthday outing with the girls. Was my choice of place. I had been to 801local, 801 chophouse, and had wanted to go to their seafood restaurant and I was glad I did. The restaurant decor is beautiful. Out server was very nice and helpful. I had the ceasar salad (sorry on pic I had eaten half already) it came with an anchovie on top which I gave away. It was delicious but better when I added a squeeze of lemon. It was huge and could have been shared. I had as an entree the lobster Mac n cheese which was really good and so big! Everyone else LOVED their meals as well. The scallops dinner, the lobster risotto, clam linguini all great. Lobster bisque wonderful, beet salad all great. They brought me a baked Alaska for my birthday dessert! It was very special and so delicious! Thanks to everyone for the great time!

Came here on a Friday night around 5:30 and it wasn't full at all. They have tons of seats, great service, huge area so unless they are slammed you'll get a nice private dinner without too many people around. Food was awesome, we ordered a few apps and 2 main courses. Fish was cooked beautifully and seasoned well. A little pricey but I would guess that's from them flying in fresh fish everyday.

Lobster Macaroni & Cheese, Lobster Fried Rice

Birthday celebration, love the oysters, so smooth and so many options. Asked the waiter to come up with a dozen of his personal favorites. All of them were very good. The calamari was a hit! And the Bronzino is delicious, with Thai like sauce, gives you the texture and a little sour kick. Ordered their whiskey sour and espresso martini, the whisky sour wins all the way. The espresso martini was a miss, it didn't blend well and not enough foam on the top. The Mac and cheese was surprisingly tasty! Not a usual fan of Mac n cheese but definitely loved this! Will come back again and try some other options!

Baked oysters like you never had oysters before!!

Everytime I come to 801 it's a good time!! And most of the time I'm alone! This evening Chef Tyler knows it's me when I place an order because I'm the only one who orders the lobster fried rice the way I do. He brought my food out to me and that made me feel good. I had a small situation and the manager was patient and kind enough to assist me. I'm still full and reminiscing about my meal, I'll just post a few pics!!

went for a birthday dinner and WOW everything was so good the food was delicious and I was surprised there were a few Asian/asian-fusion dishes. The Japanese milk bread was amazing. Service was good. Food came out really fast but we also came around 4:30 so it was early for dinner. The restaurant was beautiful and clean with hints of blue everywhere. There's more seating for smaller parties but there are a few tables for bigger groups like ours of 6 but I didn't see anything for BIG parties. There's free parking across the street but there was also valet available.

For those of us who eat at 5 and are in bed by 8, that's a non-starter. So for a birthday dinner we did the thing you're not supposed to do, showed up on a whim at 5 p.m. on a Thursday with no reservation, fully prepared to be turned away. All four bar seats were open. We took two. Sometimes the shot goes in. The room is modern chic with an old-school soul, green-and-white striped plates, the footprint is small, the kitchen is open, and the staff are polished and professional without being stiff. Jose, the bartender, has been behind that bar for most of the time the restaurant's been open, and he was the best kind of host, warm, unhurried, and honest. Yes, walk-ins are possible. No, don't count on it; some nights there's a line out the door of people hoping to squeeze in. Get there early and pray, or plan on a late supper. The Old Fashioned was solid, served over a mound of crushed ice with a fat orange wedge, which is not how I usually take one, but it went down easy. The crab cake, though, won the night, among the best I've ever had, on par with our favorite Chicago steakhouse...Bavette's. Thick, honest pieces of crab (not filler pretending to be crab), a perfectly crisp golden crust, a scatter of chives, sitting in a buttery sauce you'll want to chase with bread. Order it. Share it only if you must, even though I'm about to tell you to share everything else. Confession, I don't like spending money on pricey salads. Moreover, I don't like blue cheese. And yet the wedge, which they graciously split into two plates for us, turned me into a living contradiction. I'd order it with enthusiasm. Don't look for me to bring that spirit to any other restaurant, this is an exception, not a new rule for me. Crisp iceberg, blue cheese crumbles, a crunchy crumb topping, and a pool of herby vinaigrette underneath. Then there's the bacon: not bits, a full thick-cut slab draped over the top like a trophy. Bacon GOLD. It deserves its own line on the menu...Wright's Tavern, follow Bavette's lead and put the bacon on the menu, we'll all thank you for it. Now the steak. We went with the 22 oz. New York strip, and for what you're paying at a place like this, I expected the main event to be the main event. It arrives pre-sliced, showered in chives, sitting in its own jus. Beautiful plate. The flavor was spot on, no complaints there. The problem was the cutting. I don't know whether it was the cut itself, whether it got pre-sliced with the grain instead of against it, whether it didn't rest long enough, or whether the steak knife just wasn't up to the job, but I was sawing our medium-rare steak. More pressure than I'm used to, the knife catching on the fat, and by the end I'd left a small graveyard of partial segments and rubbery fat on the plate. Maybe it was just a bad cut on a good night. It happens. But at a steakhouse, the steak is the franchise player, and the franchise player had an off game. The side, though, quietly stole some of the steak's minutes. I'd never had dauphinoise potatoes, so I had to try them: paper-thin sliced potatoes baked au gratin until the top goes golden and the middle turns creamy. Excellent. And here's my free consulting for the kitchen: crumble some of that wedge-salad bacon over the top as bits and you've got a stellar side. You already have the bacon. Just walk it across the kitchen. Dessert brought it back. The apple cinnamon cheesecake is really light, none of that giant, dense brick that's the calling card of many cheesecakes, topped with soft spiced apple slices and a streusel crumble, and it was excellent. The scorecard: crab cake and cheesecake were the spotlight, the salad and the potatoes were the surprise, and the entrée was, oddly, the letdown. If Wright's Tavern were a TV character: it's Don Draper. Stay with me. Handsome, clearly talented, a real man's man and a ladies' man, magnetic in a small dark room with a drink in hand and flawed in a few key places. Everything Don touches at the office is brilliant; it's the thing that should matter most in his life (being a father, husband, good business partner) that he can't quite get right. That was our steak. I'm giving Wright's Tavern some grace here, because everything else was so well delivered and this little nook of a restaurant has "future regular" written all over it. I'm coming back for another steak, and I'm expecting redemption. Until then: 4.5 out of 5. The only thing keeping this from a perfect score is the one dish that's supposed to carry the team.

After hearing about it for ages, finally made it to Wright's Tavern! The restaurant felt very upscale - service was extremely attentive and fantastic. We ordered the following and did a lot of sharing: shrimp cocktail, crab cake, Caesar salad, halibut, French dip, and steak frites. Everything was fantastic. My personal favorite was the crab cake - I've never gotten so much crab meat in one before and the sauce was incredible! Caesar salad was good too. The steak to fry ratio on the steak frites was a bit off (steak was fairly small) but I appreciated that they don't skimp on sides at all! The French dip was the most meat I've ever had in one. Sadly, we were not able to save room for dessert, but I cannot wait to go back! Worth every penny, absolutely.

It's a bit, and mostly the kitchen and bar back it up. Nevertheless, we arrived to a full room, hour wait for a table, but we fortunately arrived to snag the last first come patio table. The bar was also full, by the way, which felt neighborhood like, people clearly like this place during happy hour. The old fashioned makes the case: Old Grand-Dad Bonded, pickled rye, cognac, butterscotch bitters. Two whiskeys and a bitter you won't find at an actual dive. Rich, a little sweet. The harissa deviled eggs keep going -- fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro, marinated tomato jam. You know, just like the old dive with the $1 PBR.Deviled eggs for people that don't like deviled eggs. However, we love deviled eggs...foreshadowing. The short ribs are the headline -- fall-apart tender over whipped potatoes substantial enough to stand up to the meat, gravy spot on. Eats like a perfectly executed roast dinner. The brie burger is the sneaky second hit, genuinely decadent, bacon with the cheese melting into the beef. The service was good and pleasant and that felt more like dive-friendly, where you might expect a wine "bar" to be snooty or full of themselves. 4.4 Stars Picking Nits: hip deviled eggs that reach past what they can hold. Tomato jelly on top is a lot going on, in the wrong way, and the egg disappears under it. These are trying to be hip deviled eggs more than they're trying to be good deviled eggs. Every ambitious kitchen has one plate that tries too hard; this appears to be one. A 5 needs those eggs landing, in the same way the entrees excelled. Regardless, we'll be back.

Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing, and the poor service we received put a damper on what should have been an enjoyable evening. We understand that restaurants can get busy, but the level of inattentiveness we experienced was unacceptable and far below what we expected from a restaurant like Bonefish Grill. Our server, a Caucasian male with shoulder-length, curly hair, was simply not attentive to our table. Throughout our meal, he failed to check on us and never returned to refill our drinks. We eventually had to ask another waiter for assistance because our own server was nowhere to be found. It was frustrating to have to rely on another employee just to receive the basic service that should have been provided by our assigned server. The most disappointing part of the evening came when we were ready to leave. We asked for our check and waited approximately 15 minutes without receiving it. After waiting with no assistance, we had no choice but to get up and go to the bar to find a manager. Even then, the manager had to track down our server just so we could pay and leave. Having to chase down both a manager and our own server simply to settle our bill was unacceptable and incredibly frustrating. We left feeling disappointed, frustrated, and embarrassed by the entire experience. When a party of six makes a reservation, we expect attentive service, basic courtesy, and a dining experience that reflects the standards of the restaurant. Instead, we spent a significant portion of our evening trying to get our server's attention and waiting for something as simple as our check. This experience fell well short of our expectations, and we hope management takes this feedback seriously, addresses the lack of service, and ensures that other guests do not have to experience the same treatment. We came to Bonefish Grill expecting a pleasant evening, but unfortunately, the service was what we will remember most--and not in a good way.

We started with a cocktail. I had the dirty goose and my husband had an espresso martini. Now, here is where I get a bit particular...these martinis were perfect. I had the chopped salad, and my husband had the lobster bisque. Both were fabulous! For our main dish I had the 10 oz filet off the menu, my husband had the filet special with the bone. Mine was with gorgonzola cheese and cabernet reduction my husbands was Oscar style. Both were perfect. We ordered the lobster mac n cheese and the asparagus - both perfect sides! We each had a glass of wine with dinner I had the prisoner and I cannot remember what my husband had - sorry - it was a cabernet - both accented the main dishes perfectly For the birthday dessert was a small chocolate espresso cake with small cheesecake. At first I was like, meh, cheesecake, but here I am surprised again. They brulee'd the top of the cheesecake - that took it to the next level and the chocolate espresso cake was fantastic with my red wine. The ambiance is pleasant. It was a busy night in the restaurant, and it has a certain buzz about it. When our friends had parking trouble, Harry quickly offered helpful suggestions. Then, when it was time to order, he elevated our meal in the best way possible. My husband and I got our longtime favorite--the Roberto pizza from Rosé days--and Harry suggested adding sausage and peppers. That small tweak took something we already loved and made it 1000% better. Absolute perfection. Our friend ordered the spaghetti (her all-time favorite comfort meal), and after taking Harry's thoughtful recommendation, she declared it the best spaghetti she's ever had in her life. We finished with the cheesecake. I'm extremely picky about cheesecake, but this one did not disappoint--it was creamy, rich, and flawless. This was one of those legendary meals you remember forever. The kind where you leave thinking you could die happy. Chef Pepe's food, paired with Harry's outstanding service, made it a perfect night. If you're in St. Louis, do yourself a favor and go to Peno. You won't regret it. Thank you, Harry and team--you helped create a truly special send-off for our friends!

Parking was at a premium and we parked a bit away but it was such a nice night it was a great walk. When we arrived, we were offered inside or outside seating and opted to continue enjoying the mild weather by sitting on the covered patio. Lots of other diners chose that option as well. It is super pretty out there with fairy lights strung up and nice tables. Our waiter was Harry B, he was quite pleasant and attentive. I didn't read the description properly for the drink I ordered, the Lemon cello Spritz, I didn't see it was a cream drink. It was still tasty, my husband described it as a lemon creamsicle! I finished it, very fresh even if it was creamy. I ordered the Toasted Smoked Mozzarella, the Kim Tucci Italian salad, and the Pizza Giuseppe. I loved the Italian Salad! Just the right amount of dressing for the ingredients; mixed greens, onion, mozzarella, roasted red pepper, Sicilian olive, and house vinaigrette. So very good! The toasted smoked mozzarella bites were smoky and crunchy, with a red sauce and a basil oil, also very good. Pizza Guiseppe was hand tossed crust with sausage, red pepper, raisin, pine nut, mozzarella, and basil oil. I love pine nuts and they were flavorful on the pizza. I wasn't sure about the raisins but they were good. Nice setting and service, friendly staff!

It was definitely a Mexican Honduras mash-up. So now on to the review Atmosphere: legit Central American restaurant. Good green salsa, terrible ceviche, as our friend put it, it was viscous which is never good for a fish dish much less a fresh uncooked one. The fajitas were good and large, the chicherones were not something we will ever get my husband (who likes to try new foods) again. My margarita was mid at best. Was it terrible? No. Was it good enough to make it a point to go back? Also no. And if someone could please point me to the real Mariscos El Gato I'd love to know. I miss it and we had been hoping to wow our friends with an amazing meal. :-(

We had a huge carry out order that same for Mother or Father's Day and were treated awful but I attributed it to the busy holiday crowd. However afterwards I continually saw negative reviews from African American customers. However, today my daughter and I went and the food was amazing as always and OUR server was great...let me just say that first!!!! However, the atmosphere and the demeanor and attitude of not just the Hispanic clientele but other older female servers was so blatantly rude it was SAD! POC have soooooo many other worries daily that the fact that I couldn't eat my food and enjoy my time with my adult child is crazy, especially and you're on the corner of Chippewa and Gravios...a literal melting pot. That's crazy work

They said no problem and added a third to our party. I arrived and was seated immediately. Jessica our waitress was the best. She answered all of my questions. She also allowed me to wait until my godson and his mother arrived. The restaurant was not loud nor was it quiet. It had just the right level of interaction. Mr Chicken and French Toast were delicious. The blueberries were fresh, the chicken crisp and the French toast was fluffy. My sis didn't really care for her chicken sausage. It kinda tasted like it was seasoned with chili powder. However, the breakfast potatoes!!! They are amazing. We accidentally ended up with a second order because of the way she asked for them. We were not upset about it at all. They are godson approved. He had one in each hand and as soon as he was done with each he was beating the table for another. We had a great time. The service was amazing and though it was our first time we will be going back. We even ran into my husband's friend and his wife sitting at the bar.
