Surprised that it was mostly self serve especially with the price point. With that said, the staff were very friendly and wanted to make sure the patrons were comfortable. I ordered the special that day which was the crab boil with crab legs, shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob and potatoes with garlic sauce and mild heat for $47.50. It was delicious but I couldn't enjoy it in the restaurant with the cheap plastic utensils they have, thin and not sturdy at all. I received a crab leg cracker but was unable to get the crab meat out with the plastic fork. I packed it up and took it home where I had the proper utensils to enjoy. If I patronized this establishment again, I'll bring utensils in my purse or order to go. read more

I went in around 5-6pm, no one in there and that should of been my first clue. It was clean on the inside. I ordered a soft crab po boy and some gumbo. Absolute trash, the crab was over cooked and not edible and tasted like the fryer had not been cleaned. The gumbo was also trash, no flavor and the flavor it had was of a white fish taste which gumbo is no usually in. Spent $35 and do not recommend, went to email the company on their website and it isn't even up. I'd stay away, took forever to get the food and when I got it was still horrible. read more

The food is out of this world!!! This is our second time coming to eat here and it did not disappoint. Do not expect "friendly" or "upbeat" service. went here for my nieces birthday. first time. very casual, wasn't sure what to think being a walk up counter to order and things I had read. the food was excellent and the little things like a lid on disposable cups for your drinks so crab doesn't fly in there when you break it up was wonderful. they were super friendly. the prices were a bit much just looking online, but it is a seafood boil. once we got there and saw the specials, and ordered what we actually wanted it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. we had a shrimp basket as an appetizer for our group, the breading was light and flakey like. the seafood in the boil was cooked perfectly. read more

I just finished having dinner here with my family. We used to go to the Mad Crab when they were back on Olive Blvd. It became one of our favorite places after a single visit. The wait staff was amazing and they made you feel part of a family. We decided to make a day trip to eat here on the 26th of July. We live a few minutes shy of 3 hours away so it's not a short drive to eat here. The prices were what I expected, market price of seafood. However, the sides you used to get a good portion of corn and potatoes and now you have to pay 1.99 for each corn and each potato. We did the create your own and chose two whole lobsters, frozen crawfish, black mussels, and head on jumbo shrimp. They were out of whole lobster and so when asked the cashier told us they had the jumbo king crab legs and the dungoness crab. Not even mentioning the snow crab legs as an Option. We decided to go with the dungoness crab. Another member of the family got a fried shrimp basket and Cajun fries which came out far before the food I was splitting with another family member. So they were done eating before we even got our food. By the time it did arrive and we went to deshell the crab to eat, most of the meat was still frozen. They offered us a substitution or another crab. We asked about the snow crab legs and they said that was fine despite not mentioning it as an option before when they were explaining what they were out of. As we waited we ate other pieces of the meal. The potato that we got was bland despite having chosen mild spice and the triple threat a combination of their 3 seasonings. Half the crawfish were bland. The head on shrimp were overcooked and we could barely peel the shells off, being hard once we finally did get the shells off. Half of the snow crab legs were very bland while the other half was flavorful, despite being cooked alone in the same juices and seasoning as previously ordered and stated above. Needless to say I do not recommend coming here anymore. Having loved the place once we are leaving today severely disappointed and out $175.00 from the total meal cost the final price+tip, which you pay before you even get your food. read more

Good customer service. Take out only. Snow Crablegs were fresh and sweet. Meat in the inside was on the small side but surprisingly satisfying. Had with two corned cobs and fried shrimp and fries. Snow Crab had the medium Triple Threat Sauce. Wasn't too spicy, personally, could've used more heat. Sauce was a touch sweet, too. Prefer a more savory but it wasn't bad. Walked into the Bridgeton location just after 4pm. No diners in the room, just one take-out customer waiting for her order. My friend and I stood around for a few minutes, reading the specials menu and the market price list posted on the wall. No one from the restaurant greeted us or offered to seat us. We chatted with the take-out customer who said the food is delicious and that she frequently orders take-out, but still NO ONE from the restaurant greeted us or gave us a menu or did any of the expected actions I'm used to experiencing from a restaurant. After 5 minutes or so, my friend and I left and do not plan to return. We went next door to Chimmi's where we spent the $60 (3 diners) that could have been spent at The Mad Crab. read more

We are not from around here, but being a Friday during Lent, we needed a meatless dinner. So we decided a seafood joint close to where we were staying. Plus, who can resist a seafood boil? I created my own bag with jumbo shrimp (with heads) and crawfish, a pound of each. I chose the mild garlic sauce. OMG, easily the best seafood boil I've ever had! The seafood was fresh, tasty, and perfectly seasoned. My wife got the fried fish with fries and my kids both got calamari with fries. Fish was fantastic and calamari was delicious! Walked in around dinner time and the place was pretty much dead. Had to wait an hour for simple food. I got the oyster Poboy and that was by far the worst thing I have ever eaten. They were clearly from a can and unclean. My mother-in-law got the seafood ravioli and it came out on a styrofoam plate. She couldn't even cut her food because her fork was so cheep. Then the waitress tried to sell up the food we clearly didn't want to eat. Ended up paying $70 and none of us finished our food. What a waste. No refunds, no customers and bad food. First time here. Sweet tea: Not sweet and no sweetener in restaurant ( even after asking for some) to make it to my liking. Waited on quickly, but took a bit for food to come out. We've been eyeing this place for a while but hadn't visited yet. So glad we did! Our server, Jessica, was fantastic and provided some great recommendations about the menu. We ordered a dozen raw oysters and they were fresh and delicious. We also ordered the Angry Combo with Crab legs, shrimp and clams. All were fantastic, but the shrimp were our favorite. I was really hungry for some shrimp boil and crawfish and excited to try this place. I love crawfish!!! The place had a cute decor and the service was good. But the food was just not good! We ordered a bag of shrimp and crawfish. Cajun style; medium spice. The food was quite bland and lacked any flavor or spice! It was overcooked; the shrimp were rubbery and the crawfish were also dry and rubbery. It was also very unappetizing to look at as it was covered with ... I don't even know how to describe it... clumps of a congealed paste. If you look at the pictures on this site you don't see that. For the first time in my life I let crawfish go uneaten. This place has potential but needs to make some important changes. I ordered the Snow Crab as they had a Wednesday night special. Buy one pound get a pound for half price. So $25 + $12.50. (When they brought the bill I was charged full price but I really think it was an honest mistake and was quickly remedied.) Our server was attentive and sans the billing snafu was a positive. My problem with the place is summed up in one word "plastic". If I'm paying $100 for a meal and the meal includes crab I'd really like at least a metal fork to help extract the crab. EVERYTHING in the place is plastic. The crab was OK. I think my rating is in large part skewed by the difficulty I had in eating my meal. My wife had a lobster tail as they were out of whole lobsters. (It's noteworthy that they were out of whole lobsters. As it was national lobster day which is what got us out in search of a seafood restaurant.) The tail was on the chewy side but she did enjoy the dish. They have some crappy policy's... You cant call in an order, then pick it up. I only have a 30 min on lunch, but a co worker had gone there on lunch before for there happy hour and did a carry out. He assured me they get it done fast enough to make it back in time. So I drive the 10 min there, but when I try to place my order (along with several other coworkers orders) they said "No, dine in only". I informed them of my lunch situation that I didn't have time to dine in and I had been told they make an exception. They said "No...". Even after I said "So your telling me I wasted my lunch coming here and to tell my whole office they can't come here for happy hour?" They said "Sorry...." I should have just sat down and said ok dine in. Then asked for to go boxes when they brought it out but, I didn't have time to play stupid games, or to put all that food into to go containers, and also I was quite upset at the moment. But the point being, that I have to play games to get there food is BS... If I could afford to eat here once a week I probably would! I typically get crab and shrimp and the Cajun seasoning medium it's the perfect amount of spice and flavors! came in here with high hopes! and man did they deliver...the boil i got for dinner was amazing spot on with the flavors and heat that the kids both age 10 enjoyed it and got seconds. i had the king crabs with shrimp, and muscles in a awesome full of yumness garlic marinade which was to die for. Worst place I've ever been. My wife spent $140 for my bday, on two lbs of king snow crab. Drive her there, she comes out almost in tears. Why? The "owner" refused to give her the utensils needed to eat the food. She offered to pay, nope. So I went in, with the food, for a refund. I set it on the counter, fat Hispanic dude walks up, him : how can I help you? Me : I would like a refund, please. If you cannot give us the proper utensils to eat this, I don't want it. Him : yeah we can't do that, it's fresh! Me: All these ppl sitting here, do they get utensils? Him: yes. Me: Then why can't I? I've spent $140, and am asking to pay!
