I've been here before, but its been a really long time. The restaurant has $12 valet parking in front, which is the easiest way to park. The decor inside is beautiful- hanging glass fish, blue/sea colors, etc. However, I did notice the floor by our table was very sticky- so much so that whenever anyone walked by you could hear it. It just needed to be cleaned. We had reservations and were celebrating 2 Birthdays. They handed us menus that said Happy Birthday at the top, which was a really nice touch. It wasn't crowded, but started to get busier closer to 8pm. Our server was really great- helpful and checked back in regularly. For appetizers we got calamari, crab dip, beet salad and shrimp cocktail. Everything was really fresh and flavorful. The calamari had a soy sauce and almost like a tartar sauce paired with it - it was spicy with the peppers- and very unique. The crab dip could have used more crab but it was really good. The beet salad could have used more cheese spread at the bottom but also great. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and the cocktail sauce was slightly spicy. We enjoyed sharing all this! For entrees I got the Filet with fingerling potatoes and green beans. It had a peppercorn sauce which was fantastic. The steak was cooked perfect and had great char. I wish they gave more sides for the price I probably got 4 small potatoes total cut in half. We also got hush puppies for the table which was my least favorite thing sadly. They were dry and not seasoned. They came with a honey butter that didn't give it much flavor. The grilled broccolini was great!! The other dishes ordered were the Sea bass, Salmon, and A Special Fish dish. All were great. At the end each birthday person was able to pick out their own dessert for free which was really nice. We had the bread pudding there and a tiramisu to go. The caramel sauce was fantastic! I would come back here again to try more things- Overall experience 4.5/5

Because nothing says "I crushed 18 holes" like crushing an entire seafood restaurant afterward. It's #stlouispescatarianapproved, which obviously means: one of everything, please and thank you. Oysters were Slurped. Crab cakes were gone in sixty seconds. Lobster Mac was attacked. And the sea bass didn't stand a chance either. Oh, and I got fries for dessert. These girls came to eat, not to putt. If you're not leaving 801 Fish full, happy, and slightly smug about your taste in food, you're doing it wrong. Shenanigans on.

Family and I went here for graduation dinner. We ordered around 36 oysters (not all pictured) - there were plenty of varieties to try! - lobster and steak were perfectly cooked. -clam linguine was soooooo good and creamy. -mussels were very good and is a must try! - pistachio tiramisu with the dark chocolate melts in your mouth. - the vanilla bean cheese cake was soft with a hint of tartness The ambiance was beautiful and a perfect place to celebrate/ have a high end date night. Service - the team was so professional and knew their menu so well. It was very clear that the team understood their menu and food profile to make appropriate recommendations

The restaurant is done up with modern touches and a coastal theme It lets you know it's going to be pricey but doesn't guarantee its worth it. Our cocktails, with fun, ocean themed names, were decent. My beet salad was sized for multiple diners but the white beets had an odd taste. Despite thoroughly reading menu, choosing an entree that did not list any gluten items, the waiter writing gluten free on my order, my entree came on a bed of couscous. They remade it but it delayed our overall dinner. One of my dining companions ordered the linguini and clams only to be told they were out of clams. AND linguini. He changed to a Chilean sea bass that came on a bed of rather unappetizing bed of spinach. He was disappointed; it's just fish, nothing special. My side of Brussels sprouts were the best thing of my meal. Everything had nuts. not all dishes list the nuts the apply with such a heavy hand. If you're allergic to nuts, or any food allergies, beware. After sitting awhile, we were asked if we wanted to take the rest of our dinners home; we did. They clear our plates only to come back a few minutes later to say they had thrown out my remaining half entree of scallops. Offered to remake a half order or a gift card. I took the gift card bc we were tired of sitting there. I'm not sure I'll use the gift card unless it's for a cocktail and the brussel sprouts...but parking is terrible so I'm not sure when I'll be inclined.

We went there as my selection for birthday outing with the girls. Was my choice of place. I had been to 801local, 801 chophouse, and had wanted to go to their seafood restaurant and I was glad I did. The restaurant decor is beautiful. Out server was very nice and helpful. I had the ceasar salad (sorry on pic I had eaten half already) it came with an anchovie on top which I gave away. It was delicious but better when I added a squeeze of lemon. It was huge and could have been shared. I had as an entree the lobster Mac n cheese which was really good and so big! Everyone else LOVED their meals as well. The scallops dinner, the lobster risotto, clam linguini all great. Lobster bisque wonderful, beet salad all great. They brought me a baked Alaska for my birthday dessert! It was very special and so delicious! Thanks to everyone for the great time!

Baked oysters like you never had oysters before!!

Everytime I come to 801 it's a good time!! And most of the time I'm alone! This evening Chef Tyler knows it's me when I place an order because I'm the only one who orders the lobster fried rice the way I do. He brought my food out to me and that made me feel good. I had a small situation and the manager was patient and kind enough to assist me. I'm still full and reminiscing about my meal, I'll just post a few pics!!

Came here on a Friday night around 5:30 and it wasn't full at all. They have tons of seats, great service, huge area so unless they are slammed you'll get a nice private dinner without too many people around. Food was awesome, we ordered a few apps and 2 main courses. Fish was cooked beautifully and seasoned well. A little pricey but I would guess that's from them flying in fresh fish everyday.

Birthday celebration, love the oysters, so smooth and so many options. Asked the waiter to come up with a dozen of his personal favorites. All of them were very good. The calamari was a hit! And the Bronzino is delicious, with Thai like sauce, gives you the texture and a little sour kick. Ordered their whiskey sour and espresso martini, the whisky sour wins all the way. The espresso martini was a miss, it didn't blend well and not enough foam on the top. The Mac and cheese was surprisingly tasty! Not a usual fan of Mac n cheese but definitely loved this! Will come back again and try some other options!

went for a birthday dinner and WOW everything was so good the food was delicious and I was surprised there were a few Asian/asian-fusion dishes. The Japanese milk bread was amazing. Service was good. Food came out really fast but we also came around 4:30 so it was early for dinner. The restaurant was beautiful and clean with hints of blue everywhere. There's more seating for smaller parties but there are a few tables for bigger groups like ours of 6 but I didn't see anything for BIG parties. There's free parking across the street but there was also valet available.

801 Fish blew us away. The food was delectable, the atmosphere was chic and luxurious, and the service was super friendly and attentive. Here's what we tried: Fresh East Coast Oysters: 9/10 - Tried 6 different ones. You really can't go wrong. Super fresh and taste like the sea. Came with a wonderful mignonette. Tuna Tartare: 7.5/10 - I loved the fact that there was spicy mayo on it, as it added flavor and kick, the only thing is that aesthetically I'm not sure the ring is the best way to plate this. I would also hope for the tuna to be a little bit more chunky rather than pasty. Lobster Mac: 10/10 - The choice of cheese here was perfection, and the lobster chunks came through with flavor. Such a rich side, and absolutely incredible. A showstopper for sure. Sea Bass: 9/10 - The fish was cooked to perfection, with a paper thin, crispy skin and flaky soft inside. The mushrooms and black garlic added an awesome umami while the kimchi added a vinegariness that cut through in just the right away. Scallops: 10/10 - Melted in the mouth, tasted like butter. I just had a few bites and was still in awe. Wow. Hazelnut Mousse: 11/10 - Somehow, the pairing of the hazelnut flavor with the hard, smooth texture was mind blowing. We LOVED it. While it was hard to cut through with a spoon, the work was worth it. The hazelnut flavor is light yet prominent, and the whipped topping is a perfect airy contrast to the denser mousse below. Flourless Chocolate Cake: 9/10 - So rich, so chocolatey, so divine. Nearly perfect chocolate cake, and beyond fudgy. If you like chocolate, you will love this. The esspresso cream was a fun add as well. SUPER great option for a splurge night out, when you want to be fancy and eat good.

We dined here for the first time for a romantic dinner. We were pleasantly surprised! The ambiance was very nice and comfortable. The dining room was very spacious and decorated in a charming way. Our wait staff was impeccable in every way. He was knew the menu very well and explained how the entrees were prepared. He made us feel so welcome and pampered. My entree was the alaskan halibut, which was very moist and tender with a bunch of flavor. The flash fried brussel sprouts were delicious as well as the the lobster fried rice. I had a negroni, which was delicious as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. There is the big ticket factor, however, we will return.

DELICIOUS. Swordfish special was amazing. Large piece of fish pan seared with panco and bread crumbs. Asparagus was so charred and flavourful. Also enjoyed the sweet petite oysters from MA! Will definitely be back!

801 Fish has been on a downhill slide that coincided with the new chef in the last year. What did he do? (1) Eliminated bread service. (2) Eliminated the wedge salad and a second salad that were both staples. (3) Eliminated the fries with bay seasoning and baked potatoes, replaced them with an amorphous pile of fingerling potatoes. (4) The brandy peppercorn sauce for steaks looks like vomit and doesn't taste much better. No real chef would put this out! Now about the service which has been in steep decline. One server there is very arrogant, lacks warmth and is very cold and standoffish. Our server last time was nowhere to be seen and I finally asked another server to take our order for cocktails and food. The seafood has been consistently good but everything else, not so much. Others have taken note because now I receive regular offers and discounts from 801 Fish to fill the place. Instead, replace the chef and return the items that you had in the menu, retrain staff on service and hospitality.

The cookies arrive hot and gooey to the table - yum. The only 2 drawbacks I will mention...it seemed very loud and we were sitting under one of the arches so we were trying to determine was the restaurant really that loud or were we getting conversations from other areas because of the arches? The other item I will mention is the website does not seem to be up to date with the latest selection - or maybe it needs to be broken out into Lunch and Dinner menus...a person in our party looked at the menu online and when he went to order, he wanted one of the sandwiches shown online (which was not identified as lunch only) and he was not able to order the sandwich. General observation: I would guestimate 90% of the seating is booth seating...it just seemed high and just an observation - not good, not bad.

The bar was also full, by the way, which felt neighborhood like, people clearly like this place during happy hour. The old fashioned makes the case: Old Grand-Dad Bonded, pickled rye, cognac, butterscotch bitters. Two whiskeys and a bitter you won't find at an actual dive. Rich, a little sweet. The harissa deviled eggs keep going -- fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro, marinated tomato jam. You know, just like the old dive with the $1 PBR.Deviled eggs for people that don't like deviled eggs. However, we love deviled eggs...foreshadowing. The short ribs are the headline -- fall-apart tender over whipped potatoes substantial enough to stand up to the meat, gravy spot on. Eats like a perfectly executed roast dinner. The brie burger is the sneaky second hit, genuinely decadent, bacon with the cheese melting into the beef. The service was good and pleasant and that felt more like dive-friendly, where you might expect a wine "bar" to be snooty or full of themselves. 4.4 Stars Picking Nits: hip deviled eggs that reach past what they can hold. Tomato jelly on top is a lot going on, in the wrong way, and the egg disappears under it. These are trying to be hip deviled eggs more than they're trying to be good deviled eggs. I used to be a regular at Rosé with the same talented Chef Pepe, and his food is truly to die for. Our server, Harry, made the evening even better right from the start. He had such a warm, calm, professional presence--the kind that's rare these days. We instantly remembered his name thanks to a fun Harry Potter / Harry and the Hendersons reference, and he handled everything with effortless skill. When our friends had parking trouble, Harry quickly offered helpful suggestions. Then, when it was time to order, he elevated our meal in the best way possible. My husband and I got our longtime favorite--the Roberto pizza from Rosé days--and Harry suggested adding sausage and peppers. That small tweak took something we already loved and made it 1000% better. Absolute perfection. Our friend ordered the spaghetti (her all-time favorite comfort meal), and after taking Harry's thoughtful recommendation, she declared it the best spaghetti she's ever had in her life. We finished with the cheesecake. I'm extremely picky about cheesecake, but this one did not disappoint--it was creamy, rich, and flawless. This was one of those legendary meals you remember forever. The kind where you leave thinking you could die happy. Chef Pepe's food, paired with Harry's outstanding service, made it a perfect night. If you're in St. Louis, do yourself a favor and go to Peno. The oysters were the bomb of course. The biscuits were so crispy but soft on the inside and the shrimp butter had the perfect umami flavor! Entrees: Fish Sandwich & Jerk Chicken Burger. Both perfectly executed! Texture, flavor, spice! We ordered the beet salad as a light side to our sandwiches. If you like earthy flavors, this salad is for you! The food is great. The drinks are well crafted. There's something for everyone here. Love happy hour. Fries are delish. Chicken sandwich and coconut shrimp are bangers. Ask the servers for their recs. If you're going for brunch, also excellent. I've been once. The lobster enchiladas were 10/10.
