Econo Gasoline - A galaxy far, far away...

I'm a bit late writing this review, but to say I've been slacking this year is quite an…read moreunderstatement. I have my reasons...very good reasons, indeed. But I wanted to provide my 0.02 cents about this place so here goes: Friday, July 8, 2022, I was waiting on El Camino Real on San Bruno waiting to pick-up my friend at the airport and wanted to fill up on GA$ before I got the text to head to the terminal. I googled "cheap gas near me" and this one popped up as the cheapest. The average GA$ prices at that time were over $6.00 so $5.84 (5 cents cheaper if you pay with cash) was worth the 0.08 miles drive. It's located just off of Skyline Blvd. past 280 in a very quiet and nice neighborhood. There are 8 pumps with plenty of space to maneuver your vehicle. They sell your typical items you can get at any gas station/convenience store. It's also easy to get in and out from with limited traffic in the area. The next "cheapest GA$" on the list was $5.99 just a few blocks away on the same street on San Bruno Ave. As of today, their GA$ (unleaded) is listed as $5.34. Still not under the $5.00 threshold unlike Costco, but it's still "cheaper" compared to other gas stations within the same vicinity. Hope this review saves you a pretty penny.

Something really sketchy is going on here, so I feel like I need to warn people…read more I got gas here and had to pay inside because one of the pumps was marked "out of order." These same pumps have been out of order for over a year, which already felt off. I paid at the register with a young guy working the counter. The next day, my credit card was hit with about $1,300 in fraudulent charges, including attempted purchases from Ledger.com and Crutchfield, plus multiple gas charges. I'm confident it came from here because I didn't use my card anywhere else after getting gas. After that, I learned this wasn't an isolated incident.A friend also had her credit card compromised after getting gas here, in her case, the fraudulent charges showed up on Amazon. Separately, the same thing happened to my husband, on a different day. He paid at the pump, not inside, and his card was still compromised. His card was charged three times, and those charges actually went through (not pending). Same gas station. Different people. Same outcome. I'm not accusing any specific person, but there is clearly a serious credit card security issue at this location, whether it's at the register or at the pump. Please be extremely careful, monitor your statements closely, or consider avoiding this station altogether.

If not I had to pay to use the machine wven though there's a sign right above it that says California law requires customers access to free air. I've been taking my cars to Pacifica Auto Works in Pacifica for over a couple of years now, and I…read morecan't imagine going anywhere else. Dindo and his team have consistently delivered the best customer service and top-notch quality of work--it's why I happily drive from San Mateo every time I need service, even though there are plenty of closer options. What stands out most is how attentive and honest Dindo is. He takes the time to really listen to any concerns, explains everything clearly without using confusing jargon, and never pushes unnecessary repairs. I've had everything from routine maintenance and oil changes to more involved fixes like brakes, suspension work, and diagnostics, and every recommendation has felt legitimate and fair--no upsells or inflated quotes just because they see an out-of-town customer. The work is always done right the first time, with high-quality parts and attention to detail that gives me real peace of mind on the road. The whole shop runs like a well-oiled machine: friendly staff, quick turnaround when possible, and a clean, professional environment. Dindo's passion for what he does shines through--he genuinely cares about getting your vehicle safe and reliable, and that shows in every interaction. If you're looking for a trustworthy auto shop where integrity and excellent craftsmanship come first, Pacifica Auto Works (and especially Dindo) is the real deal. Highly recommend--5 stars aren't enough! I'll keep making the drive from San Mateo because the trust and quality are worth every mile.

My car was leaking and Dindo, the shop owner, even suggested I use my AAA membership to have it towed in for free instead of driving it and risking more damage. That kind of thoughtfulness immediately showed me he cared. When he looked over the car, Dindo sat down with me and explained everything clearly. He was upfront, honest, and showed so much genuine concern for me and my situation. Instead of pushing me toward costly repairs, he told me the truth that fixing it would cost more than the car was worth, and that I'd be better off putting that money toward a new car. It wasn't the news I wanted to hear, but it was the honest one I needed. That kind of integrity and compassion is rare to find in an auto shop. Dindo treated me like a person, not just a customer, and that meant the world to me. I left feeling cared for and with a lot more peace of mind. Taking all my future cars here, 1000% I've never trusted a mechanic before in my life, so this is really different for me. Thank you guys again

The prices…read moreare obviously market dependent, but it continues to be have the best price to the other gas stations in the area. Main reason I'm writing this review is because it's one of the first gas stations I've seen that accepts Apple Pay! You still have to enter your zip code, but the convenience to be able to pay with my phone or watch is the simple pleasures in life that I enjoy. Another reason I felt compelled to write this review is because of the tremendous service I received from the lady working inside. I was having trouble with the air machine and filling my tire, and she was able to assist me no prob. Super sweet and amazing customer service. Fun fact: According to CA law, as of 2000, gas stations are required to provide FREE water, air pressure and tire gauge. It takes quarters, but all you have to do is go in and ask the attendant to turn on the machine. It's on a time sensor so if you can't get it quick enough, you'll have to go back in and ask for them to turn it back on again. NEVER PAY for air at the gas station in California! If you are coming for snacks and drinks, the selection is so-so at best, but it fits the bill. They got plenty of CA scratchers though and my go-to spot to pick up lottery tickets when the pot gets huge. Will I be back, 100%, this gas station has been a go-to since I started driving in 04!
