The most interesting part for me, though, was the roaster in the back and all the bags of green coffee beans. Interestingly, across the street in a much larger building is the Bird Rock Roasting Lab. After looking at the menu, I wanted a carrot cake latte, but I also wanted to try the beans they were obviously roasting. So I ended up ordering a large hot carrot cake latte and a small Americano for myself, along with an iced spiced pumpkin latte for my wife. Since this place was packed, it took a little over 15 minutes to get our drinks. That wasn't because they weren't cranking out coffee, as they certainly were. As for how my two drinks tasted, well, they were both good. I started with the carrot cake latte and thought it was nice. There was a definite sweetness and raisin flavor, which I enjoyed. While I couldn't fully taste the coffee, I still liked this drink. I also tried my Americano and thought it was rather good. There was some bitterness up front, followed by a deep, rich finish that lingered in my mouth for a bit. Weirdly, I didn't pick up that freshly roasted taste that I normally notice at coffee roasters, but even so, it was still good. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I thought the coffee here was quite good, but I would definitely consider ordering online and picking it up to avoid a long wait.
