Sunoco Newark Station, MD

(2 reviews)

A comfortable gas station/convenience store/restaurant on a cozy town such as Newark, MD, it sees…read moretravelers and commuters far and wide, as well as the occasional farmer. It's a Sunoco station, so there's much to be comfortable about, and there's seven or so pumps (6 regular, 1 ethanol). Inside, it's as similar to any other convenience store, offering drinks and snacks for the common traveler, as well as alcohol. There's freshly baked food here too, such as fried chicken, sandwiches, breakfast items, pizza, hot dogs, and other things, pleasing those who want a comfortable meal in a place such as this. At the back, there's plenty of options for beverages, such as a soda fountain machine (Pepsi products), coffee/cappuccino/hot cocoa, slushes (Jolly Rancher), milkshake maker, and more. There's also a seating area for those who wish to eat inside (2 tables with a mixed bench/chair arrangement), TV sets for entertainment. You can't drink your alcohol inside the premises though, but the staff are very receptive to customers. There's also an ATM, dispensing 20$ s , but the sparse connectivity in DelMarVa and spotty internet means that you'll probably want to run the transaction again if it fails. Overall, it's a great rest stop, and one of a few you'll see along US Highway 113 for miles on end (north/south).

This is a great store for the deli/grill located inside. They make an outstanding omelet, better…read morethan the breakfast joints in OC and surrounding area. All their food is home cooked on the spot, and it's really delicious. The home fries with onions alone are worth the trip. The best part is it's cheap! The omelet comes with the usual - choice of potato, bread, and it's huge and under $7. The egg meat and cheese sandwich is under $4. Also worth noting is the great coffee. It's a local type place, a lot of farmers and locals eat there (as does the random traveller happening in from Rt 113 to points north and south) and all seem to know each other. It's very friendly and the staff is always pleasant and extremely nice (rare for these parts). The place is clearly run very well (again, rare for these parts) and I highly recommend. There is seating for dining in, and even though it's limited we have always gotten a table. A little dining gem hidden in plain sight in a vast wasteland of terrible food and service. Big thumbs up. **I don't hand out five stars lightly, and in 18 reviews this is my first five star.
