One worker said she didn't know and the other said yes. I purchase $42 worth of peaches, plums, nectarines, tomatoe, and apples. On my way home to Frederick Md I started eating the fruit. NOT fresh and not locally picked! I then found stickers on most of the fruit. The tomatoes may have been fresh and local but not the rest. I was wanted those dripping fresh peaches and the two I have eaten were so bad I had to toss them. I will NOT be going back there for fruit! VERY DISAPPOINTED.

When I travel around the country and around the world I try my hardest to find the food of the place. And for the past 15 years while in Salisbury to visit my father I've found it difficult to escape "family" chain restaurants or touristy Eastern Shore fake "authentic" seafood shacks. Until this visit when I was clued in on the soul food counter in the back of Friendly Food Store. A daily menu offering 6 or 7 southern delicacies, home cooked by the charming woman behind the counter. A choice of yummy sides. And all for exactly the price you'd expect to pay for quality homemade food. So far I've had the Goat Curry, Chicken & Slippery Dumplings, Beef Stew, Turkey Wings, and Chitterlings (and watched people swoon over the turkey neck bones). Oh, and rumor has it that they do a wicked good muskrat when they're in season. It is a take out place - they have tables and a TV, but it's like eating in a bus station - so get your delicious meal and take it to a park.

I've not had any trouble at this location and have found most of what I need during my quick shops to/from the eastern shore. I appreciate the quality of produce and their 3 ingredient sourdough is pretty awesome for a delicious melt, BLTA, or roasted veggie sandwich. I've tried the hot honey goat cheese and it is very mild compared to others like Montchevre and Colosse. Great base though for a whipped spread if you wanna zhoosh it up with ghost pepper less honey. This location is bright and always in order. A plus for self checkout, and parking is plenty. Staff are always friendly!

The food is unique and cheaper than many of the name brands you will get at Wal-Mart and Food Lion, the Aldi brands are mostly from Europe. Though doubt you will miss the name brands or even many of the Wal-Mart store brand, as the quality of the brands at Aldi rival the name brands. For example you got the 89¢ cans of Summit energy drinks that are up there in quality to the Monster energy drinks that are $2.28 at Walmart. Only downside is you have to bring a quarter to get a cart and bring your own bags. But it is better for the environment, and it keeps prices lower to not spend money on bags or cart pushers. If you hate carrying cash like me for the cart issue get somthing called a cart token on Temu or Amazon, and put it on your keychain, it will trick the quarter lock into thinking you are putting a quarter in. Hope this helps!

Ladies cooking the chicken were moms and grandmas. We got bake apples, coleslaw and potato wedges, along with a 20 piece chicken. Excellent dinner. Hometown Pride, a seemingly modest country store, hides a wonderful secret. This place has, bar none, the best fried chicken you will ever have in your life. Dead serious. I live in Washington DC, but whenever I'm on the Shore visiting the parents I order a 20 piece to take home back with me. I have no idea what those ladies behind the counter do their poultry, but it's pure magic. Salty and crispy and reheats really well in the oven. I've eaten at most of the upscale-country places here in DC and none of them hold a candle to the fried chicken at Hometown Pride. If you're passing through the Shore on 50 and can make a 15 minute detour to East New Market, do yourself a favor and grab some of their chicken. You will not be sorry. Also, for some reason the Yelp map puts this place in Secretary, which is way off. Use Google Maps or something else instead.
