I went pretty late to the store recently as my dog really needed something to drink, myself as…read morewell. I didn't know what to expect but I was hoping that the jewel osco in Oak Park would be like the one in Downtown Chicago, IL. Upon entering, it seemed pretty organized. There were a few carts here and there scattered about filled with food and two aisles had gates by them to close them off which I am unsure why that was. I know some stores like CVS do that to prevent theft or keep certain things like detergents and soaps or other laundry/household goods but I could never imagine stealing from any of those places. For the most part, it seemed pretty well kempt and the shelves were stocked. There were even workers working late into the night moving pallets around to restock things for the following day. What made my visit that much more special or at least meaningful was the cashier Latia. I felt bad that maybe i was the reason that they have to keep the store open until midnight even though that's the closing time, but they had other patrons walking around as well. Latia scanned my items and though they were getting ready to close, she quickly scanned everything and made sure that i was able to carry everything. I am sure her and others were ready to go home and get ready to close because closing requires different procedures like most likely reconciling the cash register or cleaning the store but she was helpful. We even discussed a little bit about Jewel Osco. Her smile was kind and considering how late it was, she was very patient. I also had to return the next day to exchange an item and went to customer service. The woman who assisted me was very kind as well. Her name was Princess. They have good staff there. I also like how it was decorated for the holidays/fall time. They had a large variety of food items, especially organic items which was impressive.

I have gotten multiple enjoyable meals at this Jewel-Osco. I have also gotten some Jazz apples I…read moreliked here. I was grateful when I found ziploc bags at this store that I was having trouble finding elsewhere, the quart-sized Ziploc brand slider freezer ziploc bags. I am grateful this store has a bunch of different items that I may desire to have. This makes the store convenient They have such a deep inventory, that I could potentially get everything I desired from a single store visit and not have to go to multiple other stores additionally.

This place is weird. But SUPER conveinent to my apartment…read more They carry a few staple items, all with a markup from the Aldi down the street; but the hours here are so haphazard that usually just as inclined to make the trip to a real grocery store. But they have eggs, milk, rice, pasta, and tomato sauce on hand. The chip selection is fantastic. The soda selection is decent. Candies and sweet things are also reasonable (there's a school within a block, it's a bit crass). I am thankful that this place exists in my neighborhood, even though I work actively to avoid needing to go here.

On one corner we have a gas station with a $10 minimum on credit cards and very, very limited merchandise. A few doors east we have a better-stocked tiny store with the usual markups and hit-or-miss inventory. RF fills a certain gap, but they need to (and I think perhaps are, based on the empty shelves) get a few more things before I can safely recommend them. Currently, go-to items are in stock with items such as: detergent, lady products (but generic), snack foods, ingredients, seasonings, napkins, random baby items, and the like. The markups are to be expected. $5 for half-sized detergent, $1 for a 16 oz. off brand creme soda, you know. Regarding food supply, it's heavily, heavily Mexican and there is no freezer which means no frozen meals or pizzas and things. Hopefully they'll get one of those soon. They seem to still be in flux so I imagine when it's all stocked and ready to go, it will be a nice little bodega. Three stars are for cleanliness, cherry RC and a cooler of ice cream. I hadn't had a Push Pop since I was eight. That was awesome.
